Is anyone starting the journey of drama school auditions and starting to feel the stress? Maybe sending them to drama group was a big mistake lol.

A friend’s dagger was offered a Bird place off the waiting list in July but it was a diploma with DaDa offer (she’d originally applied for the degree)

dramamags · 06/05/2025 22:56

I thought Bird only do a 3 year MT BA Course

Comefromaway · 06/05/2025 23:04

They also do the 3 year Trinity diploma

dramamags · 06/05/2025 23:37

I didn't realise they did both, don't understand why they have a 3 year diploma and a 3 year BA

dramamags · 06/05/2025 23:50

Bird only do a 3 year BA honours course, they don't do a diploma course

Comefromaway · 07/05/2025 00:21

They used to only offer the Trinity diploma & students from the age of 16 could apply. They also did a BA hons in acting (my husband taught on both courses) that was an actor singer course but that course was dropped.

I’m not 100% sure of the date they started to offer the degree as well but it was somewhere between 2012 when Dh left & 2018 when my daughters friend started there.

it appears however that they have now dropped the diploma. This is very new, I know a student who graduated from it only a year ago. I wonder if it changed when Luis & Shirley left. Their ofsted inspection from last year mentions the diploma & the fact they had 81 students with a DaDa.

So last October they were advertising the 3 year diploma course. By January they wernt.

There was when my DS got his space. I recall we had to confirm before he had all of his offers back

dramamags · 22/05/2025 21:14

Thank you, well done to your ds on his offer

Hello does anyone have any experience of what it's like to live in accommodation for Emil Dale...i.e. what the commute is like etc. thank you

Emil Dale doesn't have any student accommodation. Most people do flatshares or live with landladies etc. There are some host families who will feed students etc as well. But sadly there isn't any official student accommodation. People do commute from a wide geographical radius, though.

My DD has just completed the Cert HE at EDA. She was renting a flat in Hitchin. She had a car so it was about a 7 minute drive to Letchworth. However, there are regular buses between the 2 towns and it’s 1 stop on the train, so easy to get there. Students live in various locations including Letchworth, Hitchin, Baldock, Stevenage and Hatfield, and some commute from London.
