Not waiting on Oxbridge but still wishing everyone good luck. Don’t forget if they don’t get in as an undergrad they could still do a Masters there.

catmomof3 · 09/01/2024 09:50

Looks like people are finding out by logging into their ucas before getting an email. My DD is refusing to look so I'm just gonna have to wait till she is ready and try and get on with my day which I fear may be impossible lol

goodbyestranger · 09/01/2024 09:52

Do they really get phone calls? That sounds tricky with mocks today for so many. Or is that quite rare?

Ime very rare. Wadham phoned to tell DD1 she had an offer and her tutor also phoned with her finals' results. None of the others have ever had any phone calls either for offers or results.

KazzaV · 09/01/2024 09:53

My DS was going to apply to O for a masters but stayed in Exeter in the end - also wanted to carry on with his sport there as they got promoted to the Premier uni league . I often think that he may not have enjoyed his sport ( quite a niche one ) so much if he had gone to Oxford as there could have been much more competition and he wouldn’t have been in the first team and club captain - swings and roundabouts!
still waiting to hear for DD

DSandDD · 09/01/2024 09:54

Checking UCAS is the thing to do, no email yet, but he has an offer! Congratulations to everyone with offers so far.

Blutides · 09/01/2024 09:55

Mine didn’t get a phone call, just an early email from the College they applied to but could not offer them a place. The email said they were however offered a place by the other College (second interview).

We had ruled out the chances of an offer and moved on so I’m still in shock and need to process it!

notfeelingcreative · 09/01/2024 09:55

In for E&M. Really really happy.

RIPMatthewperry · 09/01/2024 09:57

DC is logged into UCAS… nothing showing as yet. No news is still good news I guess….

mondaytosunday · 09/01/2024 09:57

You'd think they'd make this less stressful by Oxford/Cambridge saying all offers will be on UCAS by X time followed by an email from college if successful! I am imagining the students now nervous to open their email (which they may need for other stuff) or answer the phone now!
Two weeks for us and dd says she will have blanket ban on any media until she gets home.

WutheringConniption · 09/01/2024 09:58

My daughter has an 'open offer' - which I think means a confirmed place if she gets the grades and then the college allocation follows?

RIPMatthewperry · 09/01/2024 09:59

And… we’re a no.

best of luck to everyone else waiting x

WobblyLondoner · 09/01/2024 09:59

Oh my, DS has got an offer - PPE.

Revengeofthepangolins · 09/01/2024 09:59

Yes that's right. It will be underwritten by a specific college, most likely the one she applied to, so if no other college picks her up to fill a place, they will. She will learn which college after results day. So many congrats to her

goodbyestranger · 09/01/2024 10:00

So sorry to hear that RIPMatthewperry :(

lifeturnsonadime · 09/01/2024 10:01

Well it's a rejection for my son. He's fine about it. He's off to London which is what he always really wanted.

Well done to all of the offers.

SirVixofVixHall · 09/01/2024 10:01

Hurrah Wobbly . Which college ?
This was us two years ago, dd is in her second year now. I remember the stress as dd didn’t want to check , she was too worried.
WishIng everyone’s dc the best, wherever they go.

goodbyestranger · 09/01/2024 10:03

Very bad luck lifeturnsonadime. Your DS sounds remarkable - all the best to him.

zen1 · 09/01/2024 10:03

So happy for you @WobblyLondoner ! Still waiting here. Very sorry to those who have not got the news they hoped for and congratulations to the DC that got a place.

Congratulations @WobblyLondoner

Rollergirl11 · 09/01/2024 10:12

Well done to everyone with offers. @RIPMatthewperry and @lifeturnsonadime onwards and upwards to better things; they will be successful wherever they decide to go!

Thank you, that is very kind of you to say.

He is really remarkable, 2 years ago we didn't think he'd be able to take GCSEs and he has an offer from a very prestigious university to study history. I am sure this is the right outcome for him.
