More offer news to start weekend my DD has just been offered Manchester which since she started the process has moved up towards being her favourite :)

Dd didn’t get any interviews. Nor did any of her friends.

dd is now looking to apply to Queen Mary’s Malta campus. Anyone know anything about this?

@Tripadvice Malta is a fantastic medical school.

However don't give up all hope. Every year places come up on results day. I'll be around to help but keep an eye on clearing, TSR and here - be ready to hit the phones asap and if have those A level grades there's still a chance. What is the UCAT as that unfortunately still comes into play at some. St George's nearly always in clearing and last few years several others too. Good luck.

@tripadvice I'm sorry it hasn't worked out this year. I don't know much about the malta course but I have watched many applying after a year out over the years of my dc applying and they all seemed to do really well. Having the grades in hand and an extra year of maturity seemed to make all the difference. X

How do you find out about places? Through TSR?

Same here, 3 interviews, waiting. Good to know my son is not the only one.
Big congratulation to all who got the offers and even better if those are from favourite ones.

@Mumofboys2006 some will appear on the ucas clearing website up to a week before results and some on the day. Unis get the results a week before students do so they know how many gaps they have.

They pop up and go quickly so keep refreshing page. But usually tsr is quite quick to highlight any.

Call as soon as you see them - I'd suggest having multiple phones as it takes a while to get through (I usually have everyone who is there for results days phones on the case ).

They'll ask for ucas number, grades and UCAT. And then if you're shortlisted you'll have a phone interview either the same day or the next. It's very quick !

@Mumofboys2006 She interviewed at the end of November. One of the first batches I think. I feel for you, the weekend is a long time when waiting for news! There honestly doesn’t appear to be any order in which the offers for SGUL are coming out. Interview date, UCAT, anything. My daughter managed to get on a chat group of SGUL hopefuls who posted their stats when offers started coming in, and apart from all being home student undergrad applicants, there were 3000+ UCAT scorers, and 2700s. Band 1 to 3, and those interviewed earlier and later in the cycle.

@Tripadvice A few weeks ago I came across a thread from last August. Someone was asking about the process for med school clearing as her son had no offers. The first few responses were not encouraging. Anyway her son was on the phone as soon as places came out and he ended up with two offers. I was surprised to learn that places can and do come up each year.

@W0tnow 😂 I was v busy last results day. On here and in my school we got 6 in. Think it was a record !

@mumsneedwine wow - thanks - great tips there - I’ll have to get all hands on board on results day …I’m so old… didn’t they used to publish clearing places in the newspaper?🫣

@W0tnow - thanks - that’s helpful - yes DS pretty much falls in that UCAT bracket - his interview was mid-Dec I think 🤞🏼
