@stoneysongs I hope she realises that she could be waiting until March ...ConfusedGrin

It seems to vary hugely depending on course and uni. DD applied around the 14th and nothing yet but she is doing a small humanities course (won't say which as probably outing) and most of the offers I've seen come out so far have been for maths, economics, CS or similar. So while it is a bit nerve wracking I figure it's normal. Though I do wonder why some of the maths/CS/economics offers seem so fast!

She knows that in theory, but still...!

Redhotchillipeppers · 02/11/2023 11:52

DS had applied for maths, with application going in 23rd October. So I don’t know if that’s a bad sign, since slightly later applicants have received offers from Warwick.

Redhotchillipeppers · 02/11/2023 13:49

Offer from Warwick is in ☺️

RIPMatthewperry · 02/11/2023 13:53

For anyone thinking ahead, the A Level timetables are slowly being released. Mine is not happy with the clashes….

I thought the final A level timetable was released during summer. I better go check again.

If it hasn’t changed my son’s looks pretty good - starts on 21/5 and finishes 20/6. No clashes and only 2 days where there are 2 exams. No more than 3 exams in any week.

Congrats! How funny that it came in right after you posted :-) Such a relief.

My DS is still sitting on one offer for CompSci at Bristol. He is fairly sure he messed up his Imperial online entrance exam (was almost in tears afterwards) and today has found out that some classmates who did the test after him have been called for interviews. He hasn't heard anything himself so this makes him feel even more certain he messed up the exam and is pretty down in the dumps as Imperial was really his favourite choice. I think he will be more upset about missing this than Cambridge as at least we have always accepted Cambs was a long shot - bit of course on stats Imperial is just as hard. I have just told him he is not rejected until he is actually rejected!

This is so hard isn't it? Trying to stabilise him for the long haul as it is only just the start.

Edexcel appear to have mucked up their final A level timetable. All the Maths and Further Maths papers appear twice in the timetable on different dates! I have called Edexcel and the error is also on their version of the timetable too. They are currently investigating this.

The waiting is horrible, even though it’s not a rejection until it is. It’s difficult to manage emotions.

It’s going to be a long 8 months.

My DS hasn't heard anything from IC yet even though he did well for the test. He applied JMC course.

PandaPacer · 02/11/2023 15:43

OK thanks @User11010866 , that's reassuring but not sure if I should tell him as he has seemed quite resigned to it for now - is it worth getting his hopes up again!?

User11010866 · 02/11/2023 15:50

@PandaPacer IC looks not only at the test but also at the predicted grade, PS and reference.

Ermengarde · 04/11/2023 00:50

Much excitement and some nerves today as DD had an email this evening for a Cambridge interview 🎉 Not until mid December so time to prepare. She knows she has the STEP hurdle to cross so she’s being very realistic about her chances, but she’s just really pleased to have got an interview.

MirandaWest · 04/11/2023 06:39

Congratulations to your DD - very exciting news!

ShanghaiDiva · 04/11/2023 07:36

@Ermengarde
yay! Congratulations to your dd!

Lightsabre · 04/11/2023 07:51

We'll done to your dd @Ermengarde - first one off the block! Is this for maths? Several of ds friends have applied. Apparently they do offer to a lot of interviewed applicants for this subject so fingers crossed.

Congratulations Ermengarde DD

Revengeofthepangolins · 04/11/2023 08:12

Always exciting to see the first one come in! Fingers crossed for her

Headingto18 · 04/11/2023 08:57

@Ermengarde great news - hope the prep goes well

IThinkIMadeItWorse · 04/11/2023 09:19

Exciting news @Ermengarde Is she going to the STEP zoom webinars that are coming up?

O2HaveALittleHouse · 04/11/2023 09:26

@Ermengarde - fab news on the interview. Every stage is a step forward.

squirrelnutkin10 · 04/11/2023 09:37

l'm late to join, very but interested.
My DD wants to do Theology, she is very excited by the course at Cambridge, followed by Exeter or Durham but has a challenging health condition so its very tough for her as it fluctuates.

Predicted 2 A and one A so it is a bit intimidating to hear of all the 4A 's!

Pleasealexa · 04/11/2023 09:37

@Ermengarde exciting news! I guess it makes it all real! Which college has she applied to?
