Congratulations to all those getting interviews!

DD still waiting; doesn’t seem like any Physics invites are out yet.

Revengeofthepangolins · 24/11/2023 12:30

Oh splendid, cat. Am now a bit tense as that is DS's subject too !

Revengeofthepangolins · 24/11/2023 12:38

I think it says on the admissions feedback from last year that they aim for everyone to have two interviews (at same college) but some colleges opt for one 40 minute one

Oh that's interesting, I thought it was one at one college than one at another. Maybe that will come after. She's happy though because she adores the tutor we met at open day and really wanted her to interview her.

Cx5 · 24/11/2023 13:50

Mum of 2 Oxbridge applicants here. One has recently received an interview invite for Cambridge Maths. The other is waiting to hear from Oxford Maths.

Lightsabre · 24/11/2023 13:54

Wow, that must be tough @Cx5 and double the tension. I recall there was a mum of twins on a previous Oxbridge thread but can't remember what happened to them. I guess as they're doing the same subject at least they can support each other.

ShanghaiDiva · 24/11/2023 13:59

Great news on all the invites coming through.

Cx5 · 24/11/2023 14:05

@Lightsabre it's certainly nerve-wracking!! They both have an offer from Warwick but it would be nice for them to go to different universities to each other if possible.

mushroom3 · 24/11/2023 14:20

@Cx5 we're also waiting on Maths @ Oxford. From the Oxford interview list on student room, it looks like Maths, Physics and CS interviews aren't out yet. (except for a single Maths & CS rejection on there). I'm guessing now these will be next week.

Paging @Mutterphore from the Oxbridge 2020 threads! We are still on the Current Oxford/Cambridge students chat thread. (Her DS 1 & 2 have just graduated from Cambridge and Oxford respectively)

Ds has just called to say he has an interview! Very happy for him as, although he didn't say anything about it, I think he was getting a bit despondent seeing others with invites from Monday onwards. It's on the 4th - eek! His school are planning mock interviews for next week so hoping he gets a couple under his belt.

catmomof3 · 24/11/2023 15:12

Congrats to your DS @Lightsabre! My DD had mock interviews last week and is gonna go into school Monday and ask for some more as her interview is on the 5th. She's very good at talking her thoughts out loud anyway as that is how she also revises. But good luck to him! Very exciting times tbh.

mushroom3 · 24/11/2023 15:16

Congrats to DC of @Lightsabre and @catmomof3 !

TenSheds · 24/11/2023 15:19

@Lightsabre @lifeturnsonadime @Rzim @Silkiefloof @catmomof3 and anyone I've missed, this is all terrific to hear, congratulations to all. Catmom, I gather two at the same college is normal. My DD has applied for joint honours, therefore has 4 interviews, all at the same college. One is a substitute for the discounted admissions test for subject 1, one is for subject 2, and the others are given mysteriously as Panel A and Panel B! Assuming they will be one for each subject too, but who knows? She's not had times for any of them confirmed yet.

Lightsabre · 24/11/2023 15:19

Thank you @catmomof3. I hope anyone else hanging on gets good news (or any news) soon. It's hard trying not to be over invested when it's your own dc.

I'm wondering how useful our dc are finding the mock interviews? I guess they vary wildly in quality. For the STEM courses it seems to be straight into problem solving so I hope the school interviewees will understand that.

E&M interview for DS! Very happy here.

Lightsabre · 24/11/2023 15:20

Crossed posts - thanks for the good wishes.

@Lightsabre - congratulations to your ds!

Goodgriefken · 24/11/2023 15:27

Congrats to everyone with offers! So exciting.

Engineering interviews are planned for a week later than most of the interview dates that are being mentioned here, so I'm remaining optimistic that we'll have good news next week 🤞

Silkiefloof · 24/11/2023 15:39

Congrats to the offers and good luck to those waiting. The waiting is quite painful but it does seem to be at O quite close to interviews and E&M was 12 days pre first interview date, think PPE was same. Think some hear on Saturdays too. And sorry for anyone who hasn't got through. There's more 4 A star rejections on Student Room E&M.

Silkiefloof · 24/11/2023 15:42

DD had a mock interview, nice of them to offer and do them but very generic not subject related, think it might be to just reassure them.

Lightsabre · 24/11/2023 16:01

What a day - ds has just been offered a Bath place too. I know some of you are waiting for Bath so hope you hear soon too.

OP posts:
Silkiefloof · 24/11/2023 16:05

Congrats Light

Goodgriefken · 24/11/2023 16:15

Wow that's amazing lightsabre, celebrations in your house tonight 🎉

Wronginformation · 24/11/2023 16:24

Bath offer here as well! That will take the pressure off for C interview
