And just to second that they can wear what they like for interview. DS was successful in casual clothes and trainers, although apparently there was a real variety in the waiting room, with one boy in a suit and tie! I think being comfortable and relaxed is the thing.

Classics interviews are w/c 4th December - they've said they'll notify applicants next week. Prolongs the agony, but at least we're not jumping at every email ping this week 😅

”We” are waiting on classics ….. no offers from anywhere else as yet, so it is making it just slightly more nerve wracking.

losingtheplot999 · 20/11/2023 18:06

Does anyone know when medicine interviews for medicine will be at Cambridge?

Redhotchillipeppers · 20/11/2023 18:31

Well done to everyone with an interview invite. Now we try and keep busy until it’s time. I’m actually grateful the next two weeks are so busy for me at work.

Gosh, that's tight. Not really in the spirit of a week's notice but I agree, much better to know now

FancyFanny · 20/11/2023 20:08

I'm beginning to assume the lack of email probably means no interview for dd as I would assume that they would give at least two weeks notice for Art.

Sorry, didn't mean that to come across as a cringy "we're applying" type phrase!
Where else has your DC applied?

Pleasealexa · 20/11/2023 20:40

@FancyFanny Not sure that's the case as apparentely rejections and interviews tend to be same time. Some college seem a litle later this year.

@ThirdTimeBuyer might be like buses and all come together 😀 an offer from elsewhere does help to settle the nerves. Where else have they applied?

Silkiefloof · 20/11/2023 20:49

I think rejections and offers come at same time so no news is just that. We are also at no news from any or at least DD hasn't communicated any news. But its Oxford E&M, LSE Economics who don't hear from until later and Bristol has just gone in but she has to fill in a form.

Keeping motivation question - DS applied to Cambridge for Maths. Just had rejection via UCAS - bit brutal as no email. He signed up to various Cam and other uni STEP classes and predicted 4 x A* and top GCSE grades across all subjects; state school.
Now wants to drop STEP as says no point - quite deflated tbh. He has offer from Warwick and waiting on Imperial (thinks MAT went well so fingers-crossed). I thought they might also make lower offer if he sticks with STEP and that it's useful to do regardless? Just wondered if that's correct?
[as aside - little surprised re: Cambridge as hoped he might at least make it to interview but wondered if it was a mistake applying to poss most competitive college (Trintiy). He also did PS himself but wondering if should've sought advice on same - although good enough for Warwick etc?] Thanks

My daughter would have loved to go to Trinity for NatSci. But she felt it was too competitive and she wasn’t clever enough. Even though her teacher tried to persuade her to. She got into a different college instead. She seems to think Trinity are a cut-above.

Who knows. I know nothing about Oxbridge really, so left it to my daughter.

There is a huge element of luck with these things that none of us can account for. My other child didn’t get into Oxbridge and is very happy elsewhere.

Sorry ! Didn’t even pick up on it … I put “we” because i feel so invested in this whole process. Apologies .
@Pleasealexa - applied KCL, Durham, St Andrew and Edinburgh….. At least we will know soon for an interview/rejection soon and then have prelims to distract for the rest of the wait.

TenSheds · 20/11/2023 22:02

@ThirdTimeBuyer know the feeling!😅Ah, from these threads, looks like you might be in for a wait then. DD's waiting on Edinburgh too and they're notoriously late. Fingers crossed that it's good news next week.

WellBellShell · 20/11/2023 22:02

My son has applied for maths at Cambridge (Fitzwilliam) but hasn't heard anything yet. Anyone else had an invite for maths at Fitzwilliam?
He's starting to think it's not going to happen :(

allquiettonight · 21/11/2023 08:00

Son found out Friday interview for law at Cambridge. He has no offers yet - slightly worried by that. Applied for Bristol, York, Leeds and Warwick. Anyone think interview at Cambrige shows LNAT was quite good? He has 3A* predictions and 8 x 9s and 2 x 9 at GCSE. Grammar but send v few to Oxbridge.

Revengeofthepangolins · 21/11/2023 08:14

@allquiettonight it surely must be promising - lots of luck to him

goodbyestranger · 21/11/2023 09:25

DD4 was given a Classics offer from Durham before her Oxford interview (she's a current Oxford student, so this was recent). It came towards the end of November.

Her interview invite was emailed the week which corresponds to this week rather than next but if the Classics Dept have emailed to say next week then that's when it will be (unless they've said 'by'....).

Pleasealexa · 21/11/2023 09:57

@allquiettonight I would assume it must be good news. I think all the universities wait for the assessment results and then it takes time to process. However I do know someone who waited months for Bristol Law even after LNAT so you never know. This process tests patience.

@WellBellShell I don't think many colleges have sent interviews notifications yet but I think that is likely to change this week. In person interviews seems to have earlier notifications due to travel arrangements.

Lightsabre · 20/11/2023 11:58

I suppose the good thing is that we'll all know whether it's 'yay' for interview or 'nay' by the end of this week.

Last year we heard next week.

PandaPacer · 21/11/2023 13:06

One very excited DS here - he has a CompSci interview for week of 4 December

RIPMatthewperry · 21/11/2023 13:16

OOh 👏 @PandaPacer - is this O or C?

RIPMatthewperry · 21/11/2023 13:16

And congratulations to @allquiettonight DS - amazing achievement.

allquiettonight · 21/11/2023 13:22

Thanks @RIPMatthewperry particularly proud of him as school told him not to bother applying and disinvited him from the Oxbridge prep group.

RIPMatthewperry · 21/11/2023 13:26

@allquiettonight well I hope he has the last laugh. Sometimes you have to wonder about a school’s selection methodology don’t you? Best of luck to him and may his light shine brightly on the day.

It's C, sorry to not be clear!

This is a great story, congrats to him and good luck. He is already in an elite bunch, even to get an interview.
