New thread as Part 2 about to fill.

Cremebrulee jeans are totally ok. If an interviewee feels more comfortable wearing smart then they should wear smart. If jeans are the more comfortable option then wear jeans. It isn't of the slightest importance to the interviewers. Plenty of successful interviewees wear jeans.

O2HaveALittleHouse · 18/11/2023 11:09

@Pleasealexa I a m sorry to read that your son’s friend is taking the failure to secure an interview so badly. This is the reality for most applicants for the most popular courses at Oxbridge. We’ve always stressed this is a very long shot to my teen but giving it a go is no harm. We’ve also never discussed it or asked questions about interview emails etc.
Has he had other offers? That definitely helps.

UniDaysAcoming · 18/11/2023 11:16

DS still waiting to hear if he gets an interview for Maths at Oxford.
Fingers crossed... luckily he has an offer from Warwick he is pleased about.

Good luck to those who got an interview call! and commiserations to those who got rejected! It's a really tough crowd

mondaytosunday · 18/11/2023 11:30

@Rollergirl11 @Cremebrulee45 @Jaxx totally agree - my DD's interview online but if in person she would definitely wear something like a shirt with jumper over and hair wild hair tamed. It would make her feel psychologically put together and more confident. I mean she'll still look smart but maybe just from the waist up!
@ladsmum my daughter had to submit documentation about her MS when she sent in her writing examples. They sent a form which you only fill in if needed. She sent a letter from her school with results of tests to determine whether she needed extra time and a letter from her consultant (not a new letter) confirming her diagnosis and how it affected her - he actually wrote that she should get extra time due to her right side numbness (she was diagnosed in April just before A levels - she's applying PQA). Though come to think of it I'm not sure if that was addressed in the email she got about her assessment, which was a generic one sent to all taking it as it mentioned time zones.
Other than that I guess it's doing the DSA later on in Spring which she'd do no matter where she was going.

pinkroseapp · 18/11/2023 11:49

My DS has applied Biology at Wadham college and he has not heard back from them yet. He has convinced himself that he is not going to get an interview as he has only been predicted A*AA (only just meet the entry requirements). He has received offers from Manchester and Lancaster so far and waiting for Imperial and UCL.

Ragdollcharlie · 18/11/2023 13:56

@InvestedButNotOverinvested I just checked back when my DD heard she'd got an interview from Oxford, and it was about now, so hopefully you won't have too much longer to wait. The rejections and invites came out at the same time.

Headingto18 · 18/11/2023 14:00

Dd sent back her interview form and has decided to do her interviews at home after a heavy hint from school _ think they are worried about space and the WiFi

Mirrormeback · 18/11/2023 14:03

Big congratulations to everyone with interviews

DS waiting to hear from O still for Maths and random outing subject that goes with it

No one in his maths FM class has heard yet from O or C

Dafrty · 18/11/2023 14:14

DD waiting to hear from Ox English but assuming she won’t hear a thing until at least 27th Nov.

Malbecfan · 18/11/2023 19:38

Just lurking here as DD1 is now a 3rd year PhD student at C having studied NatSci there. Honestly, they can wear whatever they like for interview. DD wore jeans and a hoodie, and I think boots because C is pretty chilly in December. Congratulations to those whose DC have been invited to interview. Please don't worry if they don't. My younger DD was rejected after interview and is in her Masters year elsewhere having a blast.

ladsmum · 18/11/2023 21:21

@mondaytosunday thanks that’s useful. DS has emailed.
School had to submit lots of info to ensure he got the necessary modifications for the assessment papers (enlarged print and some extra time due to his visual impairment), also mentioned in his UCAS and my Cambridge form. Fingers crossed that’ll be sufficient and if not the college are able to accept the info after the deadline.

ffalafel · 18/11/2023 08:43

Congrats to all this DC with interviews so far and commiserations to all those without, sounds like they've got fantastic alternatives though. We're still waiting to hear about engineering interview at C, not heard of anyone else who has heard yet, probably because of colleges waiting for ENGAA results.

Good luck...my DS was one of the last to hear about his interview in his cohort (Engineering at C) - I'm fairly sure it was very late November that he heard. (He's currently loving his second year at C - tho the workload is intense!!)

Lightsabre · 20/11/2023 11:58

I suppose the good thing is that we'll all know whether it's 'yay' for interview or 'nay' by the end of this week.

mushroom3 · 20/11/2023 12:08

@Lightsabre I'm not sure, everyone will hear this week. Last year people were hearing about Oxford interviews into early December. The MAT2 will probably slow things down for people who did the exam last week. I don't know if anyone has posted this but there is an Oxford interview timetable out.

Good luck to all those waiting to hear x

lifeturnsonadime · 20/11/2023 12:19

I'm not sure it will definitely be this week either.

StElwicks · 20/11/2023 12:27

My daughter has got a test this week and an interview early Dec for English at Cambridge. I am pleased obviously, but 2 years ago went through the same process for my son to do Nat Sci at Cambridge, he was pooled but not picked up. Now at a different uni having a fantastic time with no regrets. DD is being very cautious about even imagining going as she knows it is so difficult and its not the be all and end all.

MirandaWest · 20/11/2023 12:33

@mushroom3 ive been looking at that timetable - if DD did get an interview it would be on one of the days of week beginning 4th December but it all still feels a bit far away. She seems to think she’d find out next week ie week beginning 27th but I feel it could happen any time.

Two of her friends have interviews at Cambridge - I know at least one is in person.

Silkiefloof · 20/11/2023 12:35

We are not expecting to hear this week either, might just do but start of next week expected. Good luck everyone waiting.

I went to a dinner at my old college on Saturday and the Master told me the one DD applied to at Oxford is their twin. DD said she was going to be different to me so applying to O rather than C though same subject and now it's twin college. 😂First time I've ever been invited to the after dinner thing with the professors it was lovely but just having been to a comp myself was struggling a bit with the what do you do next thing and which glass. Also got asked things like which instrument do you play, urm, none. Thankfully DH does and came from a much posher family than me so got his water in the right glass out of the 4 unlike someone else. 😳

catmomof3 · 20/11/2023 12:44

If the interview workshop sign ups close for my daughter's course at the end of the week and you can only apply if shortlisted I am assuming she will hear this week. Otherwise what's the point offering interview workshops for the course if it closes before they send out interviews. I guess we shall have to wait and see I guess.

Revengeofthepangolins · 20/11/2023 13:18

I think it is subject dependent. The humanities are in the week beginning dec 4th so I imagine that they will be out by the end of the week. The subjects in the following week will presumably hear next week. The workshop provider will know the timetable

PandaPacer · 20/11/2023 15:25

It's great to see all the interviews coming through! Well done to your DC, it's exciting times.

The wait continues here :-) I don't mention it. DS does not mention it. The days go by.

Wronginformation · 20/11/2023 16:43

Interview for stem subject received today

FancyFanny · 20/11/2023 16:54

Waiting for Fine Art here- the suspense is killing me! Teddy Hall seem to have sent theirs out a week ago, but haven't seen anyone online get an invite from other colleges. It seems a bit unfair that some get longer notice than others. Especially as for Art they also have to upload new work to their portfolio in advance of the interviews and they are are in 14 days time with new work required 1 week prior to this.

whenindoubtgotothelibrary · 20/11/2023 17:29

Waiting here too for a humanities subject at a large college, although realistically I think we might not hear for another week.

I've just checked my email history, and in 2019 ds was invited on 20 November for a face to face humanities interview at C on 9 December. Now going through it all again for dd, but this time it's O, for a different subject and with lower interview rates. Even if she does get one it will be online. And the entrance exam she took's being disregarded because of the Tata shambles.

So although I've been through it all before, it still feels like uncharted territory. Trying to nailbite very quietly so as not to add to the stress. Thankfully she's had a couple of offers from places she'd be happy to go to, and she's getting on with interview prep anyway just in case.

TenSheds · 20/11/2023 17:37

Classics interviews are w/c 4th December - they've said they'll notify applicants next week. Prolongs the agony, but at least we're not jumping at every email ping this week 😅
