A new, friendly thread.

That's exciting to see an offer on here from St. A.

AIBU to demand that DS go and check now ? Blush

DS had an interview for Manchester and got a slightly reduced offer. It’s his next choice so that’s a relief

Excellent, well done to him and anybody else with offers today.

Well done to all DC receiving offers!

Absolutely YANBU!!

Riverpebble · 19/12/2022 17:36

No news yet, though I don't think he checked as I asked in a roundabout way.

@Riverpebble yanbu! My daughter got an offer from st A's weeks ago (home student tho)

Riverpebble · 19/12/2022 19:32

That's great @beachcitygirl
St A is the second choice here so he's really hoping for an offer. He has two others but they are ones he's less keen on.

Happy Xmas, Yule or whatever to you all.
Fingers crossed for offers for those of us still waiting, if anything we (me) are more bothered about the lack of an offer from the insurance choice

@Riverpebble it is a really tough time for parents and DC alike - or at least we found it so both last year and three years ago.... uncertainty can be a killer

Try not to fret - easier said than done 😀 Many many universities take time to give offers out and wait till way after the UCAS deadline so stay strong and try and enjoy some mince pies etc in the meantime Xmas Wink

Sosilly48 · 23/12/2022 09:03

it does all seem to be a very long game! My DD got an offer from Durham few days ago. She wasn’t expecting to hear from them until much later so was a very welcome surprise. So they must be speeding up this year. Good luck everyone.

Riverpebble · 28/12/2022 02:17

A quick post to keep it on active threads during the quiet Xmas break

I hope you've all had a good holiday time

Hope everyone had a great Xmas.

Very chilled Xmas for us and Oxford was not mentioned at all!! As we get closer to 10th, Im sure the nerves will start to go though! (mine not DS's!!)

princesdando · 01/01/2023 15:36

Happy new year to everyone. Wishing everyone an amazing 2023

DS reminded me it's 9 days to learning the Oxford decision. Does anyone know roughly what time of day notifications are sent out?

Firefox1066 · 01/01/2023 18:59

HNY all. For my DN it was around 09:15 on UCAS Track and around 10:30 for the email to come through from the college. Some of her friends didn’t get their college email until noon though.

dishpatchnow · 01/01/2023 22:22

HNY! Fingers crossed for the next 9 days - waiting to hear about fine art....

Riverpebble · 01/01/2023 23:50

Happy new year everybody.

Decision day is my birthday 🤦‍♀️

Anyone know when Cambridge offers are due? Or is it different for each course?

I'm not sure but here's the Emmanuel page with dates

This is a generic page www.undergraduate.study.cam.ac.uk/applying/dates-and-deadlines

Good luck

So IF they get an offer notification on UCAS will that include the college offering (if pooled) and the grades involved or will it be a simple yes/no and they'll have to wait for the email on the 26/1 from the college?

goodbyestranger · 03/01/2023 09:09

The UCAS offer notification includes the college code which confirms the college.

My DC (Oxford) got their emails from college fairly early - 10am sort of thing - so not a long wait for all the details anyhow.

OnePlusOneEquals · 03/01/2023 13:32

Well, thankfully just a week to go and I’m sure it will be quick now they are back in college. I’ve not mentioned Oxford at all over the holidays, just trying to avoid all uni talk!

juicy0 · 03/01/2023 16:46

Obviously we are all hoping for positive outcomes for our DC, and let's hope that's the case, but has anyone got advice about how to support them best if they don't make it. I don't want to say or do the wrong thing so curios to know your thoughts.

OnePlusOneEquals · 03/01/2023 18:25

I think the groundwork we’ve laid of making the other options as appealing is the biggest thing we could do @juicy0 My son has said from the start that getting to interview stage was his aim - anything else would be a bonus. He will be disappointed not doubt, but he’s an offers holder day in Feb for another choice and he really enjoyed the two he had interviews at.

Riverpebble · 03/01/2023 18:26

We haven't mentioned it much but whenever it's come up in conversation with extended family we've taken the line that we're very proud of getting to [whatever] the stage we were at and that we are equally happy with the alternative choice.

If there's no offer then we'll just have to continue that line.
