A new, friendly thread.

When the interview letter gives two dates do they just have to be available all day for both days? Assume they will be at school so how does it work?

Such a shame they aren’t in person it used to be amazing fun going and staying in the college. I really hoped they would go back to face to face post covid but assume it has proven much simpler and cheaper for the colleges to use zoom sadly.

DS just received interview email for PPE - very excited family here. Invited by college he applied to only and not any other.

Congratulations to all who've received and best of luck for those still waiting.

Next step actual interview...

Riverpebble · 24/11/2022 16:43

I'm getting too nervous now. I can't help but think rejection is looming

Which college? Brilliant news for him

Otherunichoices · 24/11/2022 18:06

My DS’s email says there will be a follow-up email with precise dates, and that they will be 5 to 15 Dec.

Snap!

Having been totally laid back I now just WANT AN ANSWER EITHER WAY. Really feel for the kids going through all these hoops

Letitgoagain · 24/11/2022 18:28

DS got an email from Cambridge today for an interview on 5th December. It's for maths with physics at Peterhouse. He is all excited now.
Well done to all with offers and good luck to those waiting.

princesdando · 24/11/2022 18:47

@Taxitothekerb Thanks - it's St Anne's

FriendlyLaundryMonster · 24/11/2022 19:26

Ds heard today he has an interview for compsci at the college he applied to. Yay! He's been given two times on the same day.

Scottishsummer · 24/11/2022 19:31

Has anyone heard anything from Oxford in humanities at all? Praying and praying for some news re Eng Lang and Lit that isn't bad!

TravellingLightToday · 24/11/2022 19:52

Can anyone advise from experience please. DD is sitting a written assessment for PBS at Cambridge, Gonville & Caius. The assessment will include summary of a text which will be sent at the start of the assessment. The summary is to be typed on a Word document and emailed at the end.

To avoid needing to switch screens between the text and the Word doc, is it possible to use a second device e.g laptop for the word doc, unconnected to the device on which the assessment is invigilated? We don't have a second screen to connect to the main computer.

The alternative is to print the text but that would take away from the time given.

goodbyestranger · 24/11/2022 20:06

princesdando for PPE the interview would only initially be at a single college. The two college notification is purely subject specific (broadly sciences as opposed to everything else).

goodbyestranger · 24/11/2022 20:08

Scottish summer your DC should hear any day now either way.

mumofthree22 · 24/11/2022 20:41

@TravellingLightToday as far as I know they won't allow me to use two screens in the exam as it's unmonitored and secondly everyone else doing the exam will have to spend the same time printing the sheet out as well. You may be able to split the screen but it's best to ask the college beforehand.

mumofthree22 · 24/11/2022 20:41

@TravellingLightToday typo error - should say you not me!

TravellingLightToday · 24/11/2022 20:55

Thank you @mumofthree22 . It makes sense that they would want the word doc open on the invigilated device. On the other hand they allow hand written answers too, which are then scanned and sent. This is no different to typing on an offline device then sending.

My DD emailed the college but received no response.

Karwomannghia · 24/11/2022 21:27

I’ve been trying not to ask DS anything about his assessment tomorrow but I’m going to have to ask about this printing out. He’s doing it from home while I’m at work and I’m so worried somethings going to go wrong!

DS's girlfriend hasn't heard yet about Eng Lit at O 😬

babysteps22 · 24/11/2022 21:54

DS has been allocated a great college for his interview. (Hertford) Now I'm getting nervous.

Cocopogo · 24/11/2022 22:40

DS has been offered an interview, just got the email this evening. For maths at Corpus Christi

Karwomannghia · 24/11/2022 22:47

Wow that’s good!

Cocopogo · 24/11/2022 23:25

Yes, not sure I’ll sleep tonight now!

Kersey · 25/11/2022 07:13

@TravellingLightToday I asked a question upthread about being able to print the text but didn’t get an answer. My son took the HAA yesterday, he tried to print it but it wouldn’t let him. I’m not sure about being able to use 2 screens.
