Thank you....Im hoping next week will be a good one!

My dd would have loved to have gone to South Korea for a year...It must be so hard for you being apart for Xmas though but Feb/March will soon come around.

specialted · 10/11/2024 11:02

Nice to hear your news @Daisysway @aibutohavethisusername , and good luck for masters results.
Ds 8 weeks into grad scheme at food production company. He's really enjoying it so far. Been out in the fields with pigs then following the process right though to final product on supermarket shelves. I'm so pleased he's finding it so interesting as he really had no idea of what he wanted to do when he finished uni . And having him back at home is working so far, tbh we barely see him as he's up and out during the week then he visits uni friends etc at weekends so he's getting great balance at the moment.

Daisysway · 10/11/2024 18:36

Glad your DS is enjoying his job @specialted

Daisysway · 14/11/2024 16:09

All smiles here ...dd got her Distinction in her Masters confirmed.

specialted · 14/11/2024 20:02

@Daisysway congratulations to her!! 🎉🎉

aibutohavethisusername · 14/11/2024 22:00

Great news!

PearlStork · 14/11/2024 22:19

Great news. Hope she gets the job too.

Daisysway · 15/11/2024 22:22

Thank you - Sadly Dd doesnt think the job interview at Oxford went well...however the other interview at a corporate consultancy went much better and she's feeling more positive about that one... so its back to crossing fingers again!

sammyjoanne · 17/11/2024 23:29

@Daisysway Fingers crossed for your daughter for the job :) @aibutohavethisusername glad shes having a fab time in south korea, what an amazing experience.@specialted thats nice your DS has a good balance of work and uni friends and socialising. Its nice to see everyone all having a blast and living their best lives.

Fair bit has gone on since the last post. 2 days after the post we lost FIL so its been busy sorting the funeral and getting his affairs in order. DD2 moved into student studio with B/F and they had nothing but problems iw a blocked sink for two months which the student halls cant be arsed to fix. But saying that, the pair of them has had an absolute blast. They both loving their courses and friends, and socialising, and shes had a lot of time with the animals on campus. Shes very settled compared to last year when she wanted to come home with her being homesick at Reading. But loving her time in the city at Notts. DD1 moved into her accommodation at Manchester and enjoying her phd. Manchesters sorted a new laptop for coding/programmes as her own one is 4 years old now and has given up the ghost. She went to Spain up to the pyranees foothills to an experiment that she will be going to on a regular basis, and did a health and safety with 3 other uni students from Valencia. She went back with them on a five hour car journey to the hotel as the flight was from Valencia, but it was the night of the floods. She was about 10 mins drive away where the worst of it was. Following day she could not get the metro back to the airport, because of it flooded, and uber and cabify did not work, so she walked to a taxi rank, waited, and managed to get to the airport that way. She had 10 days at home, then shes now in Florence Italy. She applied about a month ago for a two week Autumn residential at the Galileo Institute and she got a place. So at the moment shes there now until Saturday when shes coming home and then later that evening been invited to a toga party.

Sounds like both your girls are doing really well @sammyjoanne ...the floods in Spain have been truly awful, so glad she managed to get home safely.

Hi it’s been a while 😊 hope you are all well . DD has finished first year of PhD particle physics . Since been to Spain working there a few times , Florence for a summer school and Portugal for a collaboration with other students and researchers. Both DD 1 and 2 learning to drive. DD1 wants to pass so she can live with boyfriend 40 mins from Manchester uni and commute by year 3. Family hols to Cornwall this July with DH , DD1&2 and their BF was fab. DD2 finished her undergrad first year and has some interviews lined up for her third year sandwich year for zoology. Saw Coldplay last weekend with both DD. DD1 following day went from London to Durham for a physics summer school whilst DH, DD2 and her BF and me went sightseeing in London. Then Monday 1st moved DD2 and BF in new student halls and the lift was out so 5 floors and 90 steps when your a big gal is not fun 😂 . Been on a health kick walking, Zumba and eating better and lost 21lbs so far in 3 month. So the stairs on Monday was my ‘workout’ lol . This past year had been a fab one for both DDs. I really hope everyone’s had a good 2025 so far and DC enjoying their best lives x

Good to hear your news. DS is starting a PhD next week - perpetual student is this one! And a younger sibling is doing a Masters. I thought we’d be trading in the people carrier and retiring!!

sammyjoanne · 06/09/2025 20:23

@ShaunaTheSheep Thats great news wishing both your DC all the best 😊
