Oxbridge Aspirants 2022 part 3....Will they or won't they make it to interview? Our Mum nerves are in tatters!

New thread for us, lots of lovely support whilst we wait. Some of our lovely DC now have interview dates whilst the rest of us hold our breath and try not to hassle our teens into checking their SPAM folders at least several times per day .

Great news @kitnkaboodle and everyone else who has interview offers. Expecting to hear from Oxford about physics fairly soon but not expecting good news. On a more positive note, DS has recently had an offer from Bristol which he seems pretty happy about.

Morning! Has anyone had any history/classics/ancient history interviews from Oxford? Still waiting-my nails are gone!😩

@Chapter and @Darby DD has also applied to Worcester college so maybe they are a bit slower. DD loved the feel of inclusivity there. Fingers and everything crossed! She has three offers in but her 5th (safe) choice has emailed to say they are no longer doing her course next year does she want to pick something else🙄 As she hopefully won’t be having to go down to her 5th choice she’s not sure whether to pick something else or change the university completely?

I would think the chances of your DD hearing today are very high MrsElijahMikaelson1, or possibly tomorrow (despite it being a Saturday).

DS thinks he "did ok" in his architecture assessment this morning. I've bailed out of work early & am taking him & his brother for a well deserved Five Guys.
Now to forget about it until the actual interview in two weeks(impossible I know)

Thanks @goodbyestranger! DS1 had setbacks during 6th form pre-pandemic and got rotten CAGs in 2020. Since then he has more or less studied on his own and done a variety of (whispers) resits. He must have done well in the PAT (Oxford equivalent of ENGAA). All credit to him, and to Oxford too, for considering him holistically.

Terrifying and soul destroying @doubleshotcappuccino! She already measures herself lacking and “not seen”, so I really hope she gets a shot.

First entry on TSR spreadsheet for ds’s subject at Oxford. He’s stressing out over coursework and I’m not saying anything to him. Sort of dreading him coming home from school sad.

DD did her MML assessment this morning. Apparently there were a surprising number of applicants, and it was weird to see them all on camera! I asked her what the assessment was about, but she is sworn to secrecy.

Just had a bit of a car crash MML, she couldn't get online for the first 15 mins, nor print the password protected file and got a bit freaked out by all the faces on zoom with their heads down writing away. But she now knows how her medic friends now felt with their BMAT tech!

Congrats to everyone who’s had positive news re interviews. Fantastic achievement in itself!

For prep for interviews, I’m no expert, but it is SO worth revisiting the PS, making sure you are up to speed with anything you’ve listed on there (they will expect you to be well versed in that), and try and have some extra articles/books/journals at the tips of your fingers. And practise thinking out loud - remember questions are rarely ‘yes/no’!!!!
