New thread for us, lots of lovely support whilst we wait. Some of our lovely DC now have interview dates whilst the rest of us hold our breath and try not to hassle our teens into checking their SPAM folders at least several times per day Grin.

@Igneococcus

dd has a Cambridge interview on Thursday but she hasn't received a link to join the interview yet. Does anybody know how long before the interview they get send?
DS has an interview for St John's on the 9th, he was sent both logins on Friday just after he'd finished the assessments. I think the colleges pretty much do their own thing but it may be worth chasing up today. Good luck to her.
Darbs76 · 30/11/2021 09:59

DS is still waiting (Maths - Worcester college). Quite a few in the Oxbridge group at his school have heard now and I can see he’s feeling the pressure. I hope he just hears soon.

Congrats to all who have interviews, commiserations to all who don’t. It’s just so stressful

ealingwestmum · 30/11/2021 10:00

Home too Pantjog. 3 sets over the scheduled day. I am dreading it, the last uni interview was at home and we needed to use phone hotspot half way through. Virgin Media…no pressure!

Flyonawalk · 30/11/2021 10:08

@SandyBayley Delighted to see your update! Congratulations to her.

Igneococcus · 30/11/2021 10:11

Thanks Millicent She's applied to St Catherine's

Her assessment was yesterday in the morning. Hopefully they send it today, if not she'll email in the afternoon.
Neither of us parents has any experience with applying to UK universities which doesn't help.

VikingNorthUtsire · 30/11/2021 10:16

@Darbs76 we are waiting too for Worcester, Maths and Computer Science. Last year's spreadsheet on TSR shows both the college and subject being quite late with interview emails.

Darbs76 · 30/11/2021 10:20

@VikingNorthUtsire thanks, I’ll let DS know that. I think he just wants to know one way or other now. Only one offer in so far (Warwick for MORSE) - pressure is building for him I can tell.

Darbs76 · 30/11/2021 10:22

DS will do the interview at school if he gets an interview - as he doesn’t trust our wifi and he’s got people at hand to help him at school. And no barking dog!

doubleshotcappuccino · 30/11/2021 10:34

@pantjog DD also wants to do the interview at home. That's me with three giddy rescue dogs on leads hoping that the wifi holds up and nobody rings the doorbell - might put a note on it saying please don't ring ! In mum years I don't know how much we will all ages by the end of this - good job it's coming up to Christmas .. I'm looking forward to a medicinal Baileys

We're going to need a new thread by the end of the day...

doubleshotcappuccino · 30/11/2021 10:37

@SandyBayley @Igneococcus @Isthisjustnormal fantastic news 🎉

SandyBayley · 30/11/2021 10:37

DD will do her interviews at home - 10 and 13 December. Dog will be walked at the time and other internet users will be strictly forbidden from internet usage!

I have to pick DS1 up from Oxford next Tuesday so am wondering about going a bit early and letting DD have a wander / cup of tea.

ProggyMat · 30/11/2021 10:42

@SandyBayley Whoop! Well done to your DD! Smile
Nowt wrong with excessive use of capital letters- my DD did the same in her text to me about her interview! Grin

JulesJules · 30/11/2021 11:08

@SandyBayley

SHE GOT AN INTERVIEW!!!!
Well done!! Great news
Valleyofthedollymix · 30/11/2021 11:36

Really pleased for all getting an interview and sorry for those that haven't - it will all work out in the end and they'll not be able to imagine any other outcome.

Someone mentioned a printer for interviews - what fresh hell is this? We have two but whether they work or not is something that you'd need the entrails of a Phoenix in order to predict. We too have barking dogs, annoying Amazon deliveries for neighbours etc, etc and would much rather DS did his interview at school. My friend also eavesdropped on her kid's interview last year and got really stressed by his answers. I so do not want to be anywhere near!

Panicmode1 · 30/11/2021 11:51

Congrats @sandybayley!

DS has been asked by the school to do his interview at home as there are lots of boys with interviews that day and they are worried about the school WiFi failing. Virgin Media better hold up!!

Grin Grin I know none of this is funny, but this really does sum up so many of our households!

DS is doing his interviews at college (he's got 3 separate interviews over 2 days). They've got a few other students having interviews so I'm sure they'll have all the technology sorted and quiet rooms allocated. Our wifi can be patchy at home so it's a bit of a relief to be honest!
