Oxbridge Aspirants 2022 part 3....Will they or won't they make it to interview? Our Mum nerves are in tatters!

New thread for us, lots of lovely support whilst we wait. Some of our lovely DC now have interview dates whilst the rest of us hold our breath and try not to hassle our teens into checking their SPAM folders at least several times per day .

DS has heard from 4 of his 5 (Cambridge, Imperial, Bristol and Loughborough..waiting for Durham...but no surprises there 😆).

Hope history assessments went well today for those that had them.....

DS has an interview at Oxford for classics!!! Very excited although he is in deep disgrace as I only just found out and he got the email before lunch!!!

I interrupted his homework to tell him he should probably email the college because interviews start next week and the original email said to chase if you hadn’t heard by the week before. When I told him off for not telling me earlier as I’d been worried he had the cheek to say I’d always taught them there’s no point worrying about things outside their control. Gggrrr.

Amazing news @Horace123 - DD's boyfriend has an interview for Geography as well. Much excitement at school today 😉

And one of the hockey team has an Economics Cambridge interview!

@MrsElijahMikaelson1 I'm so sorry for your DD, I hope she's ok. That other offer sounds as if they are bending over to lure her in - how lovely to be wanted that much, I hope it softens the disappointment.

@NinaProudman2022 DD's friend is waiting to hear on English from St A and Durham still. DD also waiting to hear from them re Maths and Physics.

@MrsElijahMikaelson1 beautifully put - it is indeed a journey for us all. I'm sorry yours has ended but it seems only in one particular direction and steaming ahead in others. @Stockpot I think in the past the LSE won't be anytime soon but that's just based on last year. With a 9% acceptance rate DD put that one into the "pretending to forget about but secretly hoping for" file
Good luck to everyone waiting, preparing or dealing with disappointing decisions- very tough on able DCs when up until now they've shone so bright. The journey will continue for them but obviously a real blow to press pause and process before they do.

We laugh about this as DS will be applying next year (not Oxbridge though). He is so laid back compared to DDs dramatics that I will probably find out many days later what offers he's had when he casually drops into a conversation. So happy for your son!

I’ve been lurking but not posting as Ds is a long shot/we’re determined not to overinvest ;-) but I’ve got a Ds who has an interview for comp sci towards the end of this week (C) so just sticking my head round the door.

@Isthisjustnormal Welcome and a huge congratulations to your DS I think CS is one of the most competitive so he has done exceptionally well. I am not over invested no not at all....... Somehow as this gathers pace its hard not to become a little bit giddy that DD has an interview for C even if she doesnt get in.

Thanks for the welcome all. His school (MN typical leafy comp) had three comp sci applicants for C this year. Which simultaneously normalised it and made for some pressure…
He’s happy to have got an interview, but not very interested in doing much more extra prep for it! Refuses to google his interviewers in case it puts him off!!

Where are everyone’s offspring doing the interviews? DD has decided to do hers at home. Cue stress that the printer decides to play up etc. I’ll be at home with the younger DC so will be banished to the furthest corner of the house well out of earshot…
