Who have I missed??

@chopc a lot of the older Durham accommodation is still like that 😬. My dd last year had a room with a sink but one toilet (no hand basin) and one shower/bath (no basin) between six. The kitchen was a cupboard!
The self catered accommodation is much nicer.

DS is currently luxuriating in his 8 bedroom house with just one other housemate. I think it’s going to be a shock as the others start drifting back next week!

We know that DD is in St Cuths but not which accommodation yet - and I really need to know about the moving in time slot so that I can arrange work commitments and where to break the journey to/from London. Trying to be patient. DD does at least seem on top of emails.

@KingscoteStaff 8 bedrooms you say? Careful that you don’t get invaded by all us “homeless” freshers!

I guess the only solace is that a few of us are in the same position. I think deferral deadline is Monday so will hopefully hear next week

@Meery by the time you guys get there it will be full of 4 rugby players and 4 hockey playing girls AND ALL THEIR KIT. Actually, they do have a cupboard under the stairs and a shed, so I'm sure they could squeeze a few first years in! Tempting bonus - TV the size of the kitchen wall and a table football table!

Seriously don't know whether to laugh or cry. Only two weeks to go and not sure if DS will have a single or double bed nor if he will be catered or self catered 🤷🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️

Do emails about accommodation go to students Durham email or their previous one?

Finally got a chance to book move in slot for Van Mildert! Hurrah!

Also got Particulars of Offer. I am hoping/guessing ds will be in the college as it says the accommodation address is the actual college rather than elsewhere

Who knew we would be put under this stress after results day :(

Hmmm....I'm getting so fed up with this whole process, DS reallocated college well over a week ago and still no detailed information on accommodation! I know our DC are all 'adults' but I'm sorely tempted to take to Twitter (have an account but don't usually Tweet) and to email college Principal etc. I've only done this once before in very different circumstances - CEO of Lidl UK - it had an immediate effect

@321zyx I thought the same but didn't want them to get pissed off with DS as any messages are "chirpy and happy" so far - even the one stating some of them may not actually live in the college 🤦🏽‍♀️

Email re residence agreement went to Ds's original email not his new Durham one.

@chopc we have bought stuff that he may or may not use and I will just return it if needed which I know can be a pain in the arse. I had to order the 3/4 fitted sheet from Dunelm on a click and collect as they didn't have them in their shop.

@Vargas excellent news re moving in slot.

Had a moving in date with dd as mentioned previously Josephine butler going by names, so dd moving in on sat, which am glad about, but no time as yet! Anyone else dc in Josephine butler had a time slot?

We are still waiting for moving day / time , hoping we will know early next week.

We have a moving in slot! 11.00-11.45am on Saturday 25th. Woop!

I've decided not to go up and back in a day so have booked a twin room for DS and I just outside Durham on the Friday night.

Yay @MidLifeCrisis007 .. I guess it’s really happening now huh?!
No news for us yet about allocated room type or where in city or when ..but we have the Saturday night booked (outside of Durham) so we should be ok to drop off on either day as long as we don’t get early Saturday morning!
College freshers Facebook group have been
really good at helping students and with building excitement. Dd much happier since she’s had contact with college

We also have a moving in slot - 2pm Sun 26th!

DD has been allocated an en-suite room at Collingwood so isn't off to Rushford Court after all.....

DD has been very fortunate indeed to get such a smooth run when others have faced so much disappointment. Eldest DS had a terrible time two years ago with the whole university application and college process so DD knows how lucky she is..... particularly in a pandemic.

@chopc I'm so sorry you're still waiting. Surely you'll hear something in the next 24 hours.

Can I just ask.. did the email telling them their room type , block of accommodation etc come to Durham email or their normal email? Also .. do they have to wait again for further email before they can agree to that accommodation or find out the time slot for moving in? . I understand this may be college specific.. but what has been general procedure?

Great news, @MidLifeCrisis007! I shall see if DS has had an email when he surfaces from his bed.

DS is currently in Croatia with a group of friends, a couple of which are Durham bound. I was pleasantly surprised that he managed to get on line and book his slot - and better still that he get one at a time that works well for me!

Annoyingly someone broke into our car last night - smashed the passenger window and stole the stereo. It might be a very quiet journey up and down the M1! GRRRR!
