Thought I’d check in early! Thanks Justneed

Hoghgyni · 06/12/2019 20:49

Thanks Just I'll probably mistake you for Hugo at some point as I'm so used to seeing her posts highlighted in green!

Unescorted · 06/12/2019 20:54

Thanks just

sandy I think I am starting to bore people with it. I have no cool. I have even been demoted and dh is driving her down.

The problem with living in the sticks means jobs are hard to come by and travel is expensive. Unless it is in the village the first 2 hours are given to the bus company or an Uber.

Just checking into the thread.

Thank you for the new thread

Checking in. DS is unflustered but is swotting. Glad it’s only one day for him.

Justneedatemporaryname · 06/12/2019 21:30

No probs guys! Grin

I'm glad of the short interview process too. I'll be driving her down early on the morning of the interview; she has one short interview in the early afternoon. We'll have a spot of lunch then drive back. Hopefully will be a nice day.

I wish DD was swotting. She's a bit too laid back for my likings! Confused

DD out tonight and a Xmas party Monday. She’s been doing documentaries and podcasts for the last week or so; says she past reading new stuff now but planning to review all the books in her PS this weekend. Last ever hockey match tomorrow. My proxy vote not through yet. She’s staying at her college which is small, no idea if there’ll be lots of people for to hang out with or not. Christmas shopping plan B if Im not wanted/needed

Thanks for new thread. Sounds like some of us will unwittingly pass each other on the M11 or M40 in the next few days! Grin

PantTwizzler · 06/12/2019 21:57

DD had a lovely time in Oxford during interviews last year. She was offered a different college from the one she’d applied to and stayed in, which took the shine off her offer; but she’s had an absolute ball in her first term. Picking her up tomorrow. She didn’t do much swotting justneed, and nor does DS normally; he must be subliminally a bit worried...

PantTwizzler · 06/12/2019 22:00

DS is very much hoping he’ll get away with going by train, alone. I tried hard to persuade him to let me accompany him, but he prefers to go into “travelling man cave” mode. DH was also keen to take him. DS just can’t bear our need for chat in the circs...

sandybayley · 06/12/2019 22:32

Checking in.

I don't have details of what DS1 did on his night out but DS2 clearly does. Best not prone. There is Code of Silence amongst siblings which I respect.

GinWorksForMe · 06/12/2019 22:41

Checking in thanks!

seedybird · 06/12/2019 22:45

Checking in - DD's off to Oxford on Sunday - good luck to everyone with interviews next week too.

KingscoteStaff · 07/12/2019 00:05

Thanks for new thread! DS had final practice interview today - lots of helpful feedback. He’s planning a haircut tomorrow - hopefully a studious look...

sandybayley · 07/12/2019 08:19

@KingscoteStaff - DS1 has rugby match today. What's the betting he comes back with a black eye? That would be a good look for interview!

TerfinUSA99 · 07/12/2019 08:48

Thanks for new thread. I have a hangover after my work Christmas party 🤮 and have to go and set up monthly coffee morning shortly, trying to bribe DSs to help...

AChickenCalledDaal · 07/12/2019 09:17

Checking in. DD just heard that the year 13 prom is on the night before the final STEP paper and is feeling a bit Sad.

bpisok · 07/12/2019 09:32

Also checking in.
Nothing to report except DD has a terrible cold and is in now bed dosed up with every cold remedy known to mankind coupled with a determination to overcome it by Monday morning (interview day).
DH also has it so I am avoiding both them!!

TeaAndStrumpets · 07/12/2019 09:51

It's all getting a bit real, isn't it? Grandson's first interview is on Thursday afternoon, but may be needed to stay until Saturday. Does this mean he is borderline for his chosen college, or just due to scheduling?

Sorry if I'm overthinking it!

seedybird · 07/12/2019 09:54

Does anyone know what they tend to get up to in the evenings at the Oxford colleges?

goodbyestranger · 07/12/2019 10:07

TeaAndStrumpets it's absolutely no indication of anything - just completely standard and will apply to everyone doing that subject at that college.
