Thought of more.

LIZS · 11/09/2019 14:32

Wouldn't bother with kettle , toaster or hob - accommodation usually provide and may not allow in rooms. Bathrobe / flipflops for midnight fire alarms. Sharp knives. Bathmat and toothmug if ensuite.

Megsmcgoo · 11/09/2019 14:33

Something to hang wet clothes after washing?

Megsmcgoo · 11/09/2019 14:34

Door stop - useful in communal halls, especially on move in day.
Cake - to go with doorstop, open door, invite people in for cake. Make friends!

‘The contents of your kitchen cupboards and fridge’ Grin

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 11/09/2019 14:42

We're currently wondering what we might have forgotten too.

Have you got:

-an extension lead
-bin (this might be provided)
-blanket/throw (handy if it's chilly at night as well as comforting)
-important documents (eg. offer letter, passport, NI number, driving licence)
-photos, nicknacks, plant, pictures etc to make it homely
-small first aid kit

Fallofrain · 11/09/2019 14:48

Rule breaking things like an extension lead and a door stop! Im assuming things like plates are already in?
Take a bottle opener and a screw driver. Tuppaware
Bags for life such as canvas bags
Things to make things feel like home: i took a table cloth for my desk, material for my notice board, blanket, and photos. Check to see if shes allowed any smelly things

Plasters!
Its difficult to know if you might end up with 6 toasters, and no kettle etc so id wait for that
Also if your room is big enough for an airer.

Id say go for a big food shop for things like good cleaning stuff, washing powder, toiletries, oil, salt and cooking basics (a spice rack was revolutionary for me as was a slow cooker but would be nonsense for others)

You can always buy things there that are forgotten

lozaa · 11/09/2019 14:49

Sharp knives

Door stop

MaidenMotherCrone · 11/09/2019 14:52

Mattress protector/topper.

Alcohol

Condoms!

cinders15 · 11/09/2019 15:02

Flu jab and meningitis C jab!! Check uni webpage for recommended jabs
Dental check (may need gum guard for grinding teeth - don't laugh - we had to get this quite quickly!)
Eye check - may need glasses

Trewser · 11/09/2019 15:15

She has a mattress topper
Needs a toaster and desk lamp apparently
Has had jabs!!
Has a couple of sharp knives

Cheese Grater

drivingtofrance · 11/09/2019 15:19

Hamman towels instead of regular bath towels. They dry very quickly which is a blessing when there is limited space to air them after a shower.

Extension cords with multiple sockets.

Plasters, paracetamol, lemsip etc.
