Still hoping she'll nip down to blacks and buy a nice practical waterproof for cycling in!

DD started appropriating my berghaus shell when she was going to open days so I had to buy her one. More than £40, less than £100.
And she did (with my blessing) appropriate my goretex lined trail shoes.

Good footwear you can walk miles in dryshod is definitely something most students ought to have if they've an ounce of sense.

Trewser · 11/09/2019 18:12

She really wants my berghaus shell. Sigh.

Definitely keep your eye on the berghaus and ask her outright if she’s planning on taking it.

We had a similar situation with a beloved vintage leather coat of mine. Unbeknown to me, as the mere owner, dsd and dd had a debate, dsd status as the oldest versus dds view dsd already has a really nice one. Apparently resolved by agreeing dsd could have mine and dd could have dsds. Obviously I wasn’t invited to join this discussion and only found out by chance. Upon asking why it had disappeared it transpired my coat was apparently going back to uni along with various other items I apparently don’t need but dsd considers vital.

Have a dd at uni

ifonly4 · 11/09/2019 20:22

I sent DD with antibac wipes and funnily enough uni mentioned these were always welcome in packages from home.

One or two personal things for the board in their rooms, photos, congrats cards for unit, fun pictures/personal mementos to pin on them (oh and pins!)

ps1991 · 11/09/2019 20:27

Get her an oil radiator. Most of the time at uni is during the winter and the radiators/heaters in halls aren’t very good. I had an oil heater that would warm my room up really quickly, just check that all electric is included, which it usually is in halls. :)

MarchingFrogs · 11/09/2019 21:01

Get her an oil radiator.

Given the amount of space it will take up in your boot, not until DD / you have had a good read of what electrical items are actually allowed, perhaps.

mushroom3 · 11/09/2019 21:12

I think temperature depends on the age of the halls. My DS was in brand new ones and summer clothes would be in order!
