Following on from our previous thread.

Good luck to all DC awaiting results and university places.

School question: Is it only the SLT and the Exams Officer(s) who get to see the results today?

Results are in for us too. Two A* and an A. She worked so hard and it's so well deserved. I'm so happy for her

EllieFredrickson · 15/08/2019 07:51

Up at 6. DD's college emailed her results about 15 minutes after that. A really good set of results (she worked bloody hard so deserved them) and her place at Oxford is now confirmed on Track.

Shower now and then we can start on her list she's written of stuff to sort.

The weekends every 8 weeks or so for the next 4 years will mostly be spent in the car!

GaraMedouar · 15/08/2019 07:51

My DS is still asleep. I'm not allowed to wake him. His course wanted AA A but it is BBB in clearing. Does that mean he can possibly still get in automatically if he doesn't get requested grades. He doesn't think he'll get an A, maybe AAA or AAB.

Ragwort · 15/08/2019 07:52

Mine thrilled to hear your DS got his place at NTU, my DS isn’t even up yet so no idea if he’s heard anything ....

Congratulations to students who have already heard and got the places they want, and to Piggy on your class results Smile.

Benjispruce · 15/08/2019 07:55

DD got her first choiceGrin Phew!

Benjispruce · 15/08/2019 07:57

No grades yet, she’s going in to school in a short while but the relief she’s been accepted at Durham is massive.

scarecrowhead · 15/08/2019 07:59

Ds got AAB, got his first choice

HostessTrolley · 15/08/2019 07:59

Dd got her first choice - medicine at imperial. Hasn’t checked track yet, but amazing results of 3xA*. She’s speechless - so proud as she really grafted for this

Good luck all xxx

Benjispruce · 15/08/2019 08:00

Brilliant. Congratulations to you all.

pasanda · 15/08/2019 08:02

DS got into Loughborough!!! Smile

So effing relieved. He's now gone back to sleep so another wait for actual grades but I don't care!!!

Also, his gf got into Cambridge Smile

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 15/08/2019 08:05

I've just relooked at DS's UCAS Track update now that he's set off for school. He misinterpreted it I think. The UEA update is dated 10/08/2019 (not yesterday or today) and says:

"Congratulations! Your place at University of East Anglia UEA for Geography has been confirmed. You are guaranteed a place here if you do not meet the conditions of your firm choice."

So I'm assuming that still means he could be in with a chance for Durham???

No grades yet but she's in to York!

GaraMedouar · 15/08/2019 08:06

DS just got up. He got into his first choice on 'clearing grades'. So he's pleased he got in, but slightly disappointed on not getting the A*AA. I'm relieved he got in on those.

TapasForTwo · 15/08/2019 08:07

Just read a post on FB that Durham take up to 2 weeks to make decisions on borderline cases.

stucknoue · 15/08/2019 08:10

Phew. Missed an element of the offer (was doing 4 a levels but dropped a grade in a subject they said had to be included) but they let her in anyway, she got higher than the offer with the other 3 a levels but had to wait 15 mins for confirmation

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 15/08/2019 08:11

@TapasForTwo yes, that's what I'm afraid of!!!

OP posts:
stucknoue · 15/08/2019 08:13

If they have just missed their first choice it's possible that they will still get in if that university has lots of students decline or defer places. My DD's friend is in this position, she has rung her first choice and has been told she has not been accepted or turned down yet. Last year dd1's friends place for Oxford came through at 4.30pm on results day!

Madhairday · 15/08/2019 08:14

Phew. DD got her firm choice :) one grade lower than the offer but she's got the place anyway so we're breathing a big sigh of relief.

Have yours all had emails directly from the unis yet? We've just got the confirmation letter on track so far. Want to know what to do next!

Tinseltrauma · 15/08/2019 08:15

No results yet but DS is into Durham, his first choice. So relieved! Best wishes to everyone whatever news today might bring.

Loopytiles · 15/08/2019 08:18

Wow, 2 weeks is ages to be uncertain, poor DC in that situation. Guess they have the option of being released and seeking elsewhere.

TapasForTwo · 15/08/2019 08:20

Durham really do take the biscuit for making people wait. Stress levels are already high. I remember reading about them being slow with offers as well.

AWanderingMinstrel · 15/08/2019 08:21

And he's in at Imperial- so-so proud. Actually had a bit of a cry! He is sooooo happy.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 15/08/2019 08:24

What a morning!
Tears from DD as her grades were not what she wanted. Was predicted AABA. Got A* BAB and devastated.
She was talking about resitting a levels and doing different ones while I was reassuring her that they're good results and she needed to wait for track.

Glad we checked on here as it meant we knew track was up early and we got on there and shes in to York, her first choice.

I thought she might based on their clearing grades but it was good to see..

MrKlaw · 15/08/2019 08:24

Son didn’t get into Warwick but was accepted into Southampton. Still doesn’t know his results (going in person) but got the emails from the unis

Would have loved him to get into Warwick - it felt like a good campus for him - but even with potentially lower boundaries it looks like the top 10 are oversubscribed as so few have clearing courses available so they are likely to be firm on offers

A few in the top 20 seem to have quite low clearing options - Sussex/Exeter for example. Bath still showing A*AA which seems the same as original reqs

ShanghaiDiva · 15/08/2019 08:24

Agree with you Tapas re Durham. A friend of ds's just missed his offer last year. It was IB so made the points, but dropped one point in higher levels. IB results come out at the beginning of July and then Durham told him they would make a decision when the A levels came out. Once A levels were released they rejected him so that was 5/6 weeks wasted and a scramble to get accommodation at his insurance offer.
