Thank you all for the outpouring of supportive messages :-) DC1 has kept busy with their voluntary work & rock band this weekend.

Massive well done to all of the successful studrnts. Ifonly's post illustrates well just how varied IB results can be.

Well done to your DS, @Blametheparents.

Great news Blame and thanks again to Bring for explaining the points system so we can appreciate his achievement. Quick question re finance, DD currently trying to add her NI number to her application, but the system won’t accept it. Has anyone else had this problem? Does she have to do anything to “activate” her NI number before she can use it?

Mustbetimeforachange · 07/07/2019 11:40

I don't think so. Is it a problem with spaces or something?

Decorhate · 07/07/2019 21:56

Try omitting the last letter of the NI number.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 08/07/2019 06:09

@LillianGish did you have any success with the NI number in the end? Do hope so?

OP posts:
LillianGish · 08/07/2019 07:35

Nope - still not working. Think I might need to give them a call.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 08/07/2019 07:39

Oh no, what a PITA. Hope you get it easily sorted @LillianGish.

Mustbetimeforachange · 08/07/2019 07:41

I imagine she will need to call them, they won't talk to you.

LillianGish · 08/07/2019 09:48

Yes indeed - I’ll get her to hop off the celebration bandwagon and attend to it.

Shimy · 08/07/2019 10:02

Sorry if this sounds obvious but can you try refreshing the page and starting that bit again?

justasking111 · 08/07/2019 13:22

Well Leeds Beckett have stolen a march and opened clearing today. If it is useful to anyone.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 08/07/2019 13:41

justasking111 - do you have to visit the individual university websites to see which ones have opened clearing officially?

justasking111 · 08/07/2019 13:46

I just been looking cannot see any other uni. which has done this. Takes some organising so they really have perhaps stolen a march. No harm in looking into it. You can still wait until the results are out.

justasking111 · 08/07/2019 13:48

This went onto FB two hours ago.

ZandathePanda · 08/07/2019 13:56

I think clearing opened 5th July. Not that it’s much use for most until the 15th August.

justasking111 · 08/07/2019 14:01

You need to check how many points needed now not earlier in the year they have been reduced.

LillianGish · 08/07/2019 14:08

Have solved NI mystery (just in case it affects anyone else). DD applied for her loan without her NI number. The loan has been approved, but her webpage says it is still waiting for her to enter her NI number. Just phoned Student Finance who said that because her loan is already approved she can't add her NI number and it will be updated automatically when they contact the Dept. of Work and Pensions themselves. So apparently we can just ignore that message - slightly confusing, but paperwork arrived this morning so all appears to be in order.

Shimy · 08/07/2019 14:23

That’s great Lilian, now DD can get on with the important business of more partying.Smile.

Shimy · 08/07/2019 14:25

UEA opened their clearing database back in June.

You can search for spaces in clearing on the UCAS website, and it clearly shows what's available once you've put the filters on

errorofjudgement · 10/07/2019 09:10

Oh dear feeling quite emotional this morning.
DD performed for her last time in the school Grad show followed by a slideshow of each student with a thank you and goodbye message to the school and their fellow students. All very lovely but very emotional.

Shimy · 10/07/2019 09:52

Error that was a lovely extra touch to exit proceedings! Wish ours had done that.
