Hi @Shimy, thanks for answering so quickly. Yes, Tuesday seems a better idea for doing Clearing trawl than tomorrow methinks.

Hope your DS enjoyed his birthday BTW.

It's all getting a bit too close for comfort now, isn't it?

All of DS's "possibles" have the same entry requirements as normal (& the same as his offers). Does anyone know if these are likely to change?

Mustbetimeforachange · 09/08/2019 16:16

I mean they are the same in clearing as originally

Shimy · 09/08/2019 16:39

@Must Universities are holding their Clearing entry requirements very close to their chest. I think the idea is you call then you find out. Some do release their new entry requirements but like most things uni related, the higher the rank of the university, the less likely they are to publicise lowered grades. I found out on TSR by the way that Exeter are accepting “BBB” for Law IF you go to their Penryn campus(which most home students don’t want).

@NewModelArmyMayhem18 👋 Thankyou. DS had a very quiete day, cards from family and we had take away in the evening. DS2 chased him round the house a bit screaming in a weird voice, “You’re a Man now! You’re A MAN! Hmm

The hours now seem to be crawling by and this weekend seems like the longest ever. Am I the only one m8ndlessly checking track? I know there’s nothing there yet, it’s like a tic!

Piggywaspushed · 09/08/2019 16:48

Don't even know Track password any more...

Shimy · 09/08/2019 16:51

Luckily Piggy It’s been saved on my IPad so I only have to go to login page and press return and I’m in.🤷🏾‍♀️

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 09/08/2019 17:42

Does anyone know off the top of their heads what % of students (roughly) get their predicted grades (or exceed them)? Out of interest?

I imagine there will be lots of reporting of A Level results related analysis by the broadsheets this weekend? Seem to recall that The Sunday Times had three related articles last week.

Piggywaspushed · 09/08/2019 18:00

I think those stats are very volatile at the moment because the 'reformed' A Levels are still working their way through.

errorofjudgement · 09/08/2019 18:36

This report from The Student Room makes grim reading. Especially for those of us waiting for English Lit and History results!

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 09/08/2019 18:43

Oh no, @errorofjudgement...

After the fiasco of paying for GCSE remarks to the tune of £300 (maybe more) to no avail for DS, I will be reluctant to do so again unless his teachers advise it. It will be such a dilemma though!

As a student I enjoyed and excelled at english, until that is I attended a different school. My new english teacher made me look stupid precis, precis he would shout at me. It was demoralising. I sat the english papers and just worked as I always had. He apparently was stunned when I got a top grade.

So english really is down to interpretation.

MrKlaw · 09/08/2019 20:27

Plans for results day? Who is going radio silent on email/web until their kids have locked up results from school?

Piggywaspushed · 09/08/2019 20:33

I imagine we are driving DS to school, being ordered to sit in the car park, where we will remain for up to half an hour with complete radio silence being observed from DS who may eventually send a taciturn text.

Danglingmod · 09/08/2019 20:37

Us, too errorofjudgement Sad

MrKlaw · 09/08/2019 21:30

@Piggywaspushed hah sounds like ours :) although he’s close enough to walk

jellybeanteaparty · 09/08/2019 21:33

Piggy this is also our expectation! We also have the mixed pleasure of watching others leave the building either happy or sad whilst waiting. I wish DC was walking distance but hey ho it will be the final lift!

Ragwort · 09/08/2019 23:08

I don’t think I can face going into school with DS, he will check Track first & then probably go in on his own. I can’t bear the thought of the inevitable photo ,with the A* students and the Head .... the other students are manoeuvred out of the way Sad. Neither DH or I will work on Thursday .... just want to get the results now and get on with Pan A or Plan B.

Shimy · 09/08/2019 23:15

DS will get his results online. We will check track first to see if he’s got his uni, that’s first priority here.

LaBelleSauvage123 · 09/08/2019 23:40

DS plans to get his results online. Depending on what they are, he may then go into his college’s ‘Results Day Celebration’ at 11. We’ll take him in, hang around in a cafe, then go for lunch. In the evening he’s going out with friends. Not as much pressure as he’s applying after results but he ( and we) are very nervous as he worked so hard and felt the exams went well but doesn’t trust his own judgement.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 10/08/2019 07:24

Not sure DS will want him us to accompany him on Thursday morning but I am happy to if he'd like. He was suggesting going in, picking up his envelope and then coming straight home to open it????

I am going to have to exercise a huge amount of self-restraint not to check 'Track' before he does though.

OP posts:
Danglingmod · 10/08/2019 07:29

We will definitely be going in with ds (he has unconditional offer though so not worried - but still worried!)

It's more that it's the proper last chance to say farewell to his teachers and other parents.

MrKlaw · 10/08/2019 07:36

I don’t think I have track access. Probably a good thing

burnoutbabe · 10/08/2019 07:36

As a mature student, starting in September I think the best part is having the cash to buy myself the nicest notebooks I fancy!
I accepted my offer s few months ago but assume there is some later date when you actually sign in blood to say you are attending (and at that point you owe the university the tuition fees).
Off for more stationary shopping today!
And bless at 43 I got emailed by another fresher to ask am in on snapchat and which halls was I staying in! God loves a trier!
