Just when exam season gets fully underway our previous thread has almost filled up. Everyone welcome Wink.

errorofjudgement oh that's good to hear. I just read some comments on Twitter - maybe they totally missed the point of the question??? Sounds an interesting question.

Any more people's DC finishing this week?

Madhairday · 14/06/2019 08:21

Juicy0 yes, that's what DD is stressing about now - what on earth should she concentrate on for biology when anything could come up now it's been 80% plants?? Rumours abounding of paper 3 being yet more plants, but I'm telling her not to listen to anything and just crack on with overviewing all she's learned. Sigh...

Psychology paper 3 today.

Good luck to all with exams today. Dd finishes on Monday with two in one day, ouch.

slalomsuki · 14/06/2019 09:03

We've finished A levels here and am glad. DS didn't go out last night as most of his friend have an exam today but he's planning to go out tonight with them. His girlfriend has another week until the end.

If the rain ever stops its cricket this weekend and a few pints I think for him.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 14/06/2019 09:27

Just to flag up that apparently 'Clearing' is open from the 5th July, so gives plenty of time to eye up courses where there will still potentially be places come Results Day and beyond.

We finish today as well, DS writing his last Maths paper as we speak Hmm.

5LeafClover · 14/06/2019 09:53

School drop-off for edexcel maths paper 3 this pm was the most depressing thing. Usually I say things like 'stay confident, you've worked hard, there are no trick questions they just want you to show what you know.' Today I went with 'fingers crossed, make sure you know your weather stations and keep off twitter'

Ragwort · 14/06/2019 09:56

DS finishes today as well, seems like yesterday that we took him for his first day at primary. Can’t say I am sad that the school years are over. He is an only child so relieved we are not going through all this again Smile.... wishing all the students and their parents a great few weeks until results day.

This thread has been so supportive and helpful, give me loads of advice about accommodation (NTU grrrrrrr.....), finance etc. Thanks to everyone who has contributed & good luck for the results.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 14/06/2019 09:57

Fingers crossed that the last Edexcel maths paper is kinder to them than the previous two.

FrameyMcFrame, hope it goes well for your DD as well. Which board? My DD is doing AQA.

NewModel, that's exactly what I was going to say.

Shimy · 14/06/2019 11:06

Good luck to everyone doing exams today. Hope to God edexel paper 3 Maths is kinder to everyone.

NewModel I have to say I think you’ve done a brilliant job keeping this thread going, keeping up the momentum when there’s been a lull, making sure you mention everyone and wrapping things up nicely after each discussion. Are you a facilitator in rl? Anyway, we’ll done to you to and thank you, I’ve really enjoyed the thread even though I haven’t been able to contribute as much. Let the waiting begin.

bizzey · 14/06/2019 11:18

shimmy i agree NewModelArmy has been fab .
Thank you NMA

Decorhate · 14/06/2019 11:21

Ds did not seem to find Maths paper 2 as bad as everyone else but he is very laid back so may possibly have overlooked something!! Fingers crossed for everyone today. He is doing Further Maths so doesn’t finish till the 24th.

cardy1969 · 14/06/2019 11:34

Psychology paper 3. Text from dd says went better than expected. That's as good as she could ask for. One left on Monday and an afternoon of chilling now (her and me).

Good luck to all the other today and next week.

MrKlaw · 14/06/2019 11:47

For those that felt bad with maths - my son had a similarly bad reaction to paper one last year, thought it was a disaster. But he only got one grade below his target so it wasn’t as bad as he thought

justasking111 · 14/06/2019 11:56

Aha some progress at last on mental health re: students.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 14/06/2019 12:06

Blush Thank you for your kind words.

I guess we will be treading water over the next couple of months, once all the DC have finished their A Levels, although I am sure there will be successes/highs to celebrate in the interim - passing driving tests, holidays, getting summer jobs, end-of-school celebrations.

Ragwort · 14/06/2019 12:10

Oh dear, just re read the comments about Edexel maths paper 3, that’s what DS has got this afternoon. He also felt that Paper 2 wasn’t too bad Decorhate & as maths is not his best subject I hope he wasn’t being over confident. Still, nothing more we can do now.

Shimy · 14/06/2019 12:14

@Just, I’ve seen that. I think it’s a brilliant idea. Don’t know why they haven’t though of it before. Yes they they are adults at 18yrs but most will be living away from home for the first time and if they are suffering from poor MH, very few people wouldn’t want their parents to know. Those will be exceptional cases where perhaps the source of the poor MH in the first place is home.

Shimy · 14/06/2019 12:15

And to add, even those who may not want home contacted could be asked for a preferred person in the event.

juicy0 · 14/06/2019 15:44

madhairday that's the advice I gave DD too. You can't base your revision on rumour when the truth is that no one can possibly know and it's all guess work. She decided to revise the paper 1 units and then review the syllabus and revisit anything she feels she doesn't fully understand or are her weak areas.

Good luck for Monday to all biologists!

Just chemistry paper 3 on Wednesday and then DD is finished, finally!

Laniakea · 14/06/2019 15:55

Juicy Dd has the same timetable - she’s doing chemistry at the moment but will do biology over the weekend. She’s decided to concentration on the stuff that didn’t come up - respiration, genetics, immunity etc.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 14/06/2019 16:02

Up-to-date info on the student bank accounts with details of freebies being offered too

Any feedback on maths? I’ve just seen that the edexcel paper was leaked ??? Shock

bizzey · 14/06/2019 16:16

Laniakea i saw something about a leaked paper but was not sure if it was this one .

bizzey · 14/06/2019 16:19

NewModelArmy ..thank you .
Maths/money is not my strong point ..
What do you recomend.
We have all of them in our High street. I know very unusual...nothing else mind 😂
So it would be easy to get to for the documents.
