Physics - grim I was told the top girl student did not even finish the paper.

Biology lots of maths but ok.

sluj · 06/06/2019 18:04

DS said AQA biology wasn't too bad and didn't think EDEXCEL Geog was too bad either but harder than the biology. He wants to do Geography at uni so is hoping for a decent grade. He has done 4 out of 9 now and has six days off to work on the next batch. He has decided to go out tonight to watch the football which is probably a good idea. Hope everyone else had a good day.

Final exam tomorrow.
Yesterday's went quite well apparently and dd was happy with what she'd spent her time on revision wise.
Still not had any dramas or blow ups which usually do precede exams as a way of the stress rearing its head and dd has felt shes done the best she can on everything.

She has a trial shift at a local place straight after college tomorrow... no peace for the wicked.

Laniakea · 06/06/2019 18:50

justasking one of dd's physics papers was horrendous, lots of tears & stress from the whole group.

Decorhate · 06/06/2019 19:05

Ds is only halfway through. He thought Biology was ok today & FM was hard but not as bad as first paper

MrKlaw · 06/06/2019 20:52

End of DS’s first busy week (5 exams). Same again next week and then just two stragglers the week after

He feels ok from this week and even quite liked the Edexcel maths paper yesterday!

blametheparents · 06/06/2019 21:37

Nice to read about how everyone is getting on. Good luck for the remaining exams,
DS is off to Prom tonight. I've seen some pics and they all looked fabulous! Some elaborate schemes were afoot from those that were still not 18 to obtain drinks from the bar!
The exams will soon be a distant memory for your kids too.
IB was pretty intense - especially the exam timetable - but it does finish early!

juicy0 · 06/06/2019 21:47

ifonly4 DD said the geog was okay but the questions weren't what they'd been told to expect. Apparently they were more traditional essay based questions rather than case studies or examples which she has spent t a lot of time revising. Not hard but different in her opinion.

errorofjudgement · 06/06/2019 23:08

Sorry to read that there's been a lot of really tricky exams this week. DD was quite lucky, she had History on Wednesday and then a break until Drama tomorrow.
For anyone else with exams tomorrow, good luck!!

Mykingdomforanickname · 07/06/2019 00:44

Did anyone else's DC take OCR maths A level on Wednesday? DS found it tough, but some others at his school found it OK.

SirB0bby · 07/06/2019 07:44

@Mykingdomforanickname my DS did the OCR maths paper. Said he found it very difficult, as did a lot of students in his exam. Sounds like Maths was pretty hard all round this year.

ifonly4 · 07/06/2019 10:49

juicy0 DD did say something about the questions and she chose to make comparisons, wasn't sure about summing up. Also, one markers weren't what she expected them to be. Time will tell.

Shimy · 07/06/2019 11:18

This time next week DS will be done, then the wait begins.

justasking111 · 07/06/2019 13:13

Panic here. DS had an exam at 9am. School phoned he was missing and not in the exam. Tried phoning him went straight to voice mail. We were tearing our hair out. School phoned back oops he was in the exam hall.

Picked son up told him what had happened, well he was the first one there it was another child who was missing. Confused

bizzey · 07/06/2019 13:21

justasking111 what a nightmare !

Thing is ..if they are not curled up in bed asleep ...what are you supposed to do ?
What i mean is .. i migjt be at home and i knpw ds has left ..what then ?

bizzey · 07/06/2019 13:24

My letters do not want to work in the right order !!!

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 07/06/2019 13:33

justasking111 what a todo....Glad your DS was in the exam...How long before they realised who really was missing and I wonder how much of the exam they missed?

Isn't there some type of 30 minute rule about showing up late for an exam?

OP posts:
Mustbetimeforachange · 07/06/2019 14:05

There certainly used to be a rule. My DH missed a large chunk of one his A levesl because he didn't wake up & his parents didn't bother to wake him either. He got there just before the cut off but didn't do terrbily well!

Mykingdomforanickname · 07/06/2019 14:30

SurB0bby, thanks for that information, which gives me some hope! DS needs a B in maths. I am hoping the ones who found the paper "OK" will be the A* and A grade maths students and that at the point OCR get to doling out the B grades they will be getting into the realms of students with quite low marks!

Shimy · 07/06/2019 18:15

Justasking just catching up, how awful for you that moment you thought it was your DS Shock and how awful still that someone was missing from their exam. Were they found? Was it someone off sick maybe? I’m sure your DS found it all hilarious I know mine would be 🙄.

cardy1969 · 07/06/2019 19:52

Anybody's DCs do AQA psychology today? DD said it was horrible, not at all what she'd revised. Her friends said it was fine, which is making her more worried. She said that
the worse thing is she thought paper 1 went well and this paper has let her down 😞

questioner123 · 07/06/2019 20:30

Cardy, my DD did AQA psychology today and is disappointed with how it went, considering psychology was her best subject. She said the questions were very tricky and worded unclear, and nearly ran out of time so had to rush quite a few of her answers. A lot of others she knows found it hard too, so I wouldn't worry- grade boundaries will probably be lower than usual.

cardy1969 · 07/06/2019 20:40

Thanks @questioner123. I think it was her friends saying it was fine that worried her. She has since been looking at Twitter and the funny memes about the odd questions (something about a rugby player advertising cleaning products 🙄) which has cheered her up. Just need to move on I guess.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 07/06/2019 20:50

Straight from her last exam (psychology and apparently 'piss easy') then straight to a trial shift for a job at a local cafe/laundrette (weird).

Cant believe that's her last day of high school/6th form college done and dusted.

Roll on results day.

Piggywaspushed · 07/06/2019 21:05

Spanish and business today (another clash, but no equipment to confiscate!). He has not said a word about business. Spanish he said 'they ask weird questions' (umm... yeah those would be the ones that say 'this film you watched : what's it about then?')

One more exam to go next Thursday : quite a lull now.
