Ds has unexpectedly started study leave today (was supposed to be at half term) so it’s all starting to feel real now. First exam on Monday

juicy0 · 16/05/2019 17:36

ifonly4 my DD also sat the second cie geog paper today and felt it went well, much better than the first one! Overwhelming relief all round as she was really low on confidence after the first paper.

blametheparents · 17/05/2019 07:39

So - it’s the last exam today! English A SL.
And then it’s all over.
The IB has been tough, but he’s feeling fortunate now as he’s got friends that don’t start their A levels until Monday.
The summer is about to start ...
(Well, at 10.30am)

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 17/05/2019 08:24

Wow blametheparents good for your DS!!

Yay! Congratulations to your ds blametheparents - hope he has a great summer!

Dd just left for her last day - exams start on Monday with physics 1.

ZandathePanda · 17/05/2019 10:04

Mines still got a week before she doesn’t have to go in for lessons. Madness. The lessons will only be interrupted by her doing 2 exams!

LIZS · 17/05/2019 12:49

Final day before Study Leave today. She's starting to realise the uncertainties ahead as opposed to looking forward to another year of school in September - daunting.

BringOnTheScience · 17/05/2019 13:30

Well done to blametheparents' DS! Early finish, and early results, is definitely an advantage to the IB. DC1 has just HL chemistry left for next week, so the postponed 18th birthday celebrations are tonight after their band has played a gig.

AWanderingMinstrel · 17/05/2019 15:26

Further Maths AS finished and 2 AL Physics exams next week and then they finally go on study leave next Friday- go figure. Not sure if going to lessons around exams is a good idea or not!

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 17/05/2019 16:01

Not sure if going to lessons around exams is a good idea or not! Lots of the comprehensive I know about operate this policy and it seems to work in terms of results.

Same system at my DDs private school. Everyone attends academic lessons unless you’ve got an exam.

justasking111 · 17/05/2019 19:36

DS has three more exams in two subjects so will need to attend those lessons, otherwise up to him. The students do tend to go into school and use the sixth form study to be honest as before for free study periods, until they have done their last exam.

VanCleefArpels · 17/05/2019 21:15

DD’s compulsory lessons finished today, but staff are keeping to timetable and so she can go in if/when she needs/wants to from here on in. It’s a mostly boarding school so they need to keep the occupants occupied! Prom next Friday to break things up!

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 18/05/2019 15:17

DS admitted to starting to feel nervous now that his first exam is only 72 hours away.

There is a strange silence in my house at the moment. DS in the dining room revising economics for Monday and DD in lounge revising GCSE Religious studies. This is the calmest it's been for weeks. I am in my bedroom as I have nowhere to sit without making noise, watching netflix with a glass of wine. Bliss 😁

Shimy · 19/05/2019 12:58

Well done to Blametheparents DS. What now? Has he got any plans lined up? You must be so relieved too.

Economics first thing tomorrow.😨

blametheparents · 19/05/2019 18:06

Well, I can’t complain at DS’s work ethic.
He finished exams on Friday, and he’s worked 3pm til midnight at a pub yesterday, 1 til 7 today, and then he’s working tomorrow too.
He’s busy saving for a holiday he’s booked with friends. I’m more scared about that than his exams!!

Good luck to everyone who has got exams tomorrow and this week.

bigTillyMint · 19/05/2019 18:28

Shimy and Minesaeine, same here. It's DSs first one...

Good luck to them all!

minesawine · 19/05/2019 19:10

Thank you BigTilly

Good luck Shimy and to all those sitting Economics tomorrow

ZandathePanda · 19/05/2019 19:16

Bloody Tudors.

ZandathePanda · 19/05/2019 19:22

Apologies for the swearing but their foreign policies are ruining my Sunday.

bigTillyMint · 19/05/2019 20:17

DD did the Tudors. She hated them Grin

FrameyMcFrame · 19/05/2019 21:03

YesDD also finished lessons on Friday but teachers are in their classes on timetable... they can choose to go in to study or stay at home.
Dd has one e am this week then one in the week after half term. They're spread out quite well. And she never had 2 in one day which seems quite lucky!

ProlificLurker · 19/05/2019 22:39

DS just announced he needs a new protractor for physics paper tomorrow. Hope everyone else is better prepared.

MarchingFrogs · 19/05/2019 23:12

A few years back, DS1 announced one evening, on his way to bed, that he had a maths exam in the morning - okay, for which he required a calculator - okay, and I've lost mine, Mum...

Fortunately, this was a weekday night and there is a 24hr Tesco ten minutes' drive away. I made him get dressed again and go with DH to investigate their school stationery department.
