Piggy, he has cleaned the loo and sink I stood over him giving instructions, I came downstairs now I can hear the hoover going rofl...

His next mission should he choose to accept is to sort his washing into dark and light, I will stick to 40c temperature, giving him different ones may lead to disaster Grin

bizzey · 13/05/2019 20:16

omg ! The washing . I am hyperventilating at the thought !
I do get asked what wash i am putting on next.
I say dark wash .
Ds comes down with a beige t -shirt and say can this go in ?
Er no it is beige ..that goes in the "mid/mixed wash"
But it has black writting on it .🤣

bizzey · 13/05/2019 20:19

To be fair ..he does like cooking ..and his birtday is in a few weeks ..so would be interested in the student cookbook ..if anyone has a name /link.
Ds2 and 3 can give it to him.

blametheparents · 13/05/2019 21:48

DS has the same book. Tried a couple of things from it, but we have the same idea as somebody else mentioned that he’ll cook once a week after the exams have finished. He likes food so I reckon he’ll be ok. He won’t want to go hungry!

bizzey · 13/05/2019 22:22

Thank you for the book link .. good reviews.
That is him sorted for his 18th!

bizzey · 13/05/2019 22:26

( he will have more than a cook book...i am not that aeful !!)

BringOnTheScience · 13/05/2019 22:41

Thanks Piggy! Something about IB being slightly less conventional does mean it seems to attract interesting subjects.

Blame I don't think that maths (S) went too well for mine today. Not helped by them forgetting to have the formulae books out, and then getting them only for the Maths Studies group! They were quite late starting.

BringOnTheScience · 13/05/2019 22:43

Cooking - yep! Deliberately teaching key recipes & techniques. DC1 is dyspraxic, which doesn't help. Frozen diced onions may well feature a lot! They can do many things with pasta, rice & couscous so far.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 14/05/2019 06:23

DS has that book too (he got it for Christmas). He definitely needs some practice.

Italian Speaking yesterday. She was very happy as she got allocated one of the topics that she's very confident with!

English, Tragedy paper next Thursday then the rest are after half term.

It feels like it's all rushed up on us now.

blametheparents · 14/05/2019 08:34

BringOnTheScience - how frustrating. Doesn’t make for a nice calm start to an exam. DS does Standard too. The non-calc paper is his least favourite of the maths papers, but he felt he did his best and that it wasn’t too awful!
3 hours of exams today so not too bad today. He and some friends are just going to go over some Chinese vocab after the maths and get some lunch together.

ifonly4 · 14/05/2019 11:09

bizzey and NewModel - that's interesting your DCs have their A level geography exams next week. DD is doing CIE A level geography, had her firt paper last week, one this week and two after half term. I had it in my mind they'd be sitting them all on the same day even if different boards.

Framey - it's great when something like that happens for them

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 14/05/2019 12:12

ifonly4 - just had to go to check DS's timetable to make sure I'd not overlooked something! At his school, as far as I can tell it's only art and photography A Level exams this week.

ifonly4 · 14/05/2019 14:38

NewModel sorry if I made you panic, I doublechecked as well. Turns out it's actually AS DD is doing before half term, and A level afterwards, either way sounds like the A level for CIE is on different days to others as it's after half term. That'll explain why she's got four exams in geography.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 14/05/2019 18:17

That's impressive, your DD doing AS and A Level at the same time, ifonly4.

Not a good time for younger Dd to be vomiting Shock. Out to get dettol and kitchen towel and zone the house off...
Hope everyone else bug-free.

blametheparents · 15/05/2019 09:54

@ZandathePanda - oh no! Can she live in the shed until A levels are over, or until she is bug free? Grin
Seriously though, hope all ok.

ZandathePanda · 15/05/2019 10:11

Ah we have a new shed - good idea blame!
A Level Dd is still at school so not near her sister atm. Their study leave only starts at half term (after she’s done some exams). It’s madness but keeps her out of the way of home bugs.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 15/05/2019 10:40

ZandathePanda DD was sick yesterday evening but recovered and went to school today. I had exactly the same thought though. Hope your DD feels better soon and you mange to keep DC1 suitably quarantined.

blametheparents · 15/05/2019 11:11

A new shed?
She is being spoilt!

ifonly4 · 16/05/2019 15:32

DD just phoned after doing CIE geography paper 2. She's happy, 15 mark question on topic she studied for GCSE and revised last night. The topics for the three 10 markers are known beforehand, so she was prepared for 55/60 marks. Paper 1 was hard, so glad it went well. Nothing until after half term now.

How's everyone else's DCs coping/getting on?

TapasForTwo · 16/05/2019 16:00

They actually know the topics beforehand? Hmm
Doesn't that give the students some kind of unfair advantage?

DD did AQA for GCSE and A level, and they had no idea what was going to come up. Does this mean that the AQA exams are harder?

ifonly4 · 16/05/2019 16:37

Tapas - that's my understanding, but maybe they know it's going to be roughly along the lines of certain topics. From what I've read CIE are harder exams - perhaps they're more likely to know what's coming up but can be harsh on marks/choice of questions - the first two questions on previous paper were unexpected 10 markers (not much in text books or taught on those subjects, so only those that know their stuff and more are the only ones to shine).

TapasForTwo · 16/05/2019 16:40

Regardless, good luck to your DD ifonly and to everyone else's DC.
