Looks like we need a new thread.

I too thought Durham was beautiful. I hope he gets good accommodation and congrats for what must be excellent A level results. Smile

kaiserschmarrn · 16/08/2018 12:18

STEPMum, we're in the same boat - DS got Warwick. A* x 3 and an A, but he got 3s in both STEP papers. He says his mark on one of them would have been enough for a grade 1 in another year. We knew it would be brutal, and it was.

That said, he's very philosophical about it and is very pleased to have got his place at Warwick, which was also a tough offer. And now we can start planning properly. Smile

Well done to all the DCs on here who have made their offer. Time to celebrate! Wine Glitterball Cake

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/08/2018 13:09

Well done everyone :) really really well done.
Durham and Warwick are both awesome universities too.

Anyone else exhausted?

OYBBK because we hadn’t heard from you post track opening up I was a bit worried, but was it all riding on STEP? In which case, congratulations!

YippeeTeenager · 16/08/2018 13:37

Kitten, has your DD made her offer? I’ve been checking all of the threads to see if I could see your confirmation to no avail. Fingers crossed it’s good news Flowers

We took DD out for breakfast to celebrate and then as soon as we got home she fell asleep on the settee!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/08/2018 14:01

Yes, it's very good news :) She did really well.

Hurrah! Well done, well done, well done!

STEPmum18 · 16/08/2018 14:41

Just back from a pub lunch and feeling very full. Glad your DS is happy to be going to Warwick, Kaiser. My DS liked both Durham and Warwick - I can't remember what made him decide to go for Durham in the end. Can you believe he doesn't know what grades he got in the STEP papers?! He just knows he didn't get Cambridge so has moved on and not bothered checking. I'd love to know what he got but don't want to bang on about it in case he thinks I'm disappointed with his results. Maybe I can find his log in details and take a sneaky look later........

STEPmum18 · 16/08/2018 14:42

To MissMarple, He's doing maths.

Hubbleisback · 16/08/2018 16:03

Utterly exhausted!!! Just woke up after a couple of hours sleep and feel completely disorientated. Goodbye and Hingle so want to pick your brains about everything in the future. Really happy for everybody - Oxford, Cambridge, Durham and Warwick!! Not shabby!!

ErrolTheDragon · 16/08/2018 16:17

Well done to them all.

And now, if you're anything like our family, starts the shopping...Bedding, laundry bag, kitchen stuff (as apt depending on the available cooking facilities Wink), bicycle (depending on which college) etc etc...Grin

Hubbleisback · 16/08/2018 16:27

Really want to start shopping - DH probably less keen. Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/08/2018 16:37

I had to remind myself to look both ways crossing roads when out for a wander just now! My mind wasn't really with it!

Maths was always taught down at Elvet Riverside back in my day. Top location. No college is miles away as it's central so whatever he's allocated wont be an hour's trek!

I always felt bad for people in Hild Bede studying psychology. So many hills.....including the appropriately named 'Cardiac Hill'

He will love it. I'm actually a bit envious!!

Hubbleisback · 16/08/2018 16:52

Concentrate kitten. We can't lose you now!!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/08/2018 17:04

lol Hubble! Bum is firmly planted on the sofa now.

Kitten is, I'm convinced, a weather goddess and the weirdness this year is due to her distraction. I'm hoping normal service will resume soon.Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/08/2018 17:35

That's too funny Grin

OP posts:
kaiserschmarrn · 16/08/2018 17:48

STEPMum, that must be very frustrating about the STEP results. Your DS sounds remarkably chilled, which I'm sure will serve him well.

Hubble, yes, a choice collection of universities!

STEPmum18 · 16/08/2018 18:03

Yes, Kaiser, it is very frustrating! Has your DS had any communication from Cambridge? I wondered if DS will get an official rejection. We're still waiting to hear if he's got into his college choice at Durham - although how he's going to find out when he is glued to a computer game I don't know. I think I am more excited about results day than him!

Thesearepearls · 16/08/2018 18:55

I'm absolutely exhausted TBH

Was due to be in London today but very fortunately a tractor got stuck on the lines and trains cancelled (YAY)

Well done to everyone - glad everyone has got in to great places

And thanks to everyone for the support Flowers particularly Kitten for starting the thread.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/08/2018 18:56

:) I'm really glad everyone seems to be happy.

Started champagne at 8 this morning and drinking it now. Off to Tapas bar in a min. Should sleep/collapse really easily tonight! Can't believe we actually made it through! Wine

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/08/2018 19:10

I'm still on tea Grin I'll be out of it once I start on any alcohol.
