Looks like we need a new thread.

OP posts:
HingleMcCringleberry · 16/08/2018 08:03

Hubbleisback Fucking get in!! I hope he has a brilliant time at Univ. I was going over the previous threads and I know you were almost beside yourself with despair after his interviews, so I’ve been thinking about you guys a lot. Really pleased for you.

HingleMcCringleberry · 16/08/2018 08:06

Nice work Risotto301! Good old Hillside, I knew he couldn’t go wrong!

HeyBells · 16/08/2018 08:07

DS has made it into Cambridge, so pleased. Well done everyone else.

HesMyLobster · 16/08/2018 08:14

Thankyou Hingle! And for all your encouragement and info over the past year! DD is over the moon (as am I!) Grin

kaiserschmarrn · 16/08/2018 08:15

DS is carrying the calm approach too far now. He's asleep in bed.

STEPmum18 · 16/08/2018 08:15

I can't believe how well all your DC have done. It's so lovely to hear of their success.😄In my house DS has just headed for the shower and will hopefully be ready to go for his results in half an hour.

Hubbleisback · 16/08/2018 08:23

Thanks Hingle you have been brilliant!

Risotto301 · 16/08/2018 08:28

just got he results from school via email. DS pocked 4A*, so relieved and so happy and proud of him !

Thesearepearls · 16/08/2018 08:37

Well done everyone

DS got in so Chemistry can’t have been that bad

PandaG · 16/08/2018 08:40

DS in to Cambridge for engineering!! School open at 10 for results.

ErrolTheDragon · 16/08/2018 08:44

Wow, many congratulations!

vongreenberg · 16/08/2018 09:01

Congratulations to all so far!! It’s tremendous.

Very proud of our DS who got his place for Ancient and Modern History. We are thrilled for him.

He came over quite down. So I thought the worst had happened... No he’s gotten in but “only” AAAA.
Angry How can I get him to be happy! He’s only just gone and got his place at Oxford, but that’s still not good enough for him.

Out of interest, do many applicants get AAA? How does A level results correspond to degree success?

goodbyestranger · 16/08/2018 09:19

So pleased esp for Hubble DS and Lobster DD who both had such doubts. Never one to blow my own trumpet, but I'm super pleased I was bang on about Track at 7.30am :) Big pat on the back for me too :)

jaguar67 · 16/08/2018 09:23

DD in for Biochemistry - over the moon doesn't quite capture it. Smashed her A levels & once she's back from school collecting whatever they collect, we're consuming some serious champagne/ prosecco/ whatever I can lay my hands on.

Wonderful to hear all the good news on here today, fingers crossed for any still waiting xx

HingleMcCringleberry · 16/08/2018 09:43

vongreenberg I’m sorry your boy’s not thrilled, but I think by the end of the day when it has sunk in he’s going to Oxford hopefully he’ll be feeling a bit more upbeat. Is he worried that other people will have all A*? Who cares? No one has a conversation in Fresher’s week about their exam results, they’re just made up to be there.

I have no idea how school results compare to degree results. Again... does it matter? If you think he’s feeling like an impostor, then plenty have us have felt like that, but he’ll get over it after he hands in his first essay.

HingleMcCringleberry · 16/08/2018 09:44

goodbyestranger Massive congratulations! You must be so pleased. I hope you didn’t have too much of a sleepless night waiting for the results to come in. Grin

STEPmum18 · 16/08/2018 09:44

Brilliant A levels but, as expected, messed up STEP. But got Durham so delighted.😁😁😁 Thanks to everyone on here - It's the first time I've joined a mumsnet thread and I've really appreciated being able to come on and talk to other mums in the same position. We all have amazing children haven't we? Good luck to them all wherever they go. X

goodbyestranger · 16/08/2018 09:46

Thank you Hingle! Grin Phew!

goodbyestranger · 16/08/2018 09:50

STEPmum Durham is so beautiful. Sorry to hear about Cambridge. Your DS's attitude is incredibly impressive though - he sounds seriously cool. All the very best to him.

STEPmum18 · 16/08/2018 09:52

Thanks. 😎

HingleMcCringleberry · 16/08/2018 10:03

STEPMum that’s a bit brutal, but Durham is a great university, and it sounds like you both have a wonderful attitude to things.

YippeeTeenager · 16/08/2018 11:05

DD in to Cambridge for natural sciences Grin

MissMarplesKnitting · 16/08/2018 11:14

I chose Durham over Oxford and I'm glad I did. I had a marvellous three years there, I'm sure he will love it. Which college?

STEPmum18 · 16/08/2018 11:28

He put Josephine Butler (a new college at the top of the hill) but isn't guaranteed to get it as Durham was his insurance offer so he's waiting to hear. He is guaranteed a place in halls though which is better than a lot of insurance offfers. I'm sure it will work out fine. I've just managed to persuade him to go out for lunch with me to celebtare. Hope you are all enjoying your day. 🍾🍸

MissMarplesKnitting · 16/08/2018 12:00

What's he reading? Hill colleges are great, I was at one
