Looks like we need a new thread.

Two more exams tomorrow- DD's favourite English 'unseen' analysis and she is hoping for either gothic or sci-fi rather than realism....... Nope me neither!
Then the Classics art and architecture paper. Who knew that there were so many types of Greek pots, friezes and statues?!

She finishes next Tuesday, just as I start my GCSE exam marking 🙄

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/06/2018 21:21

That's a lot of writing in one day!

Two more maths papers tomorrow afternoon. They clash, so they are running them back to back and expect to finish at 5. Harsh way to finish the week.

OP posts:
HesMyLobster · 14/06/2018 22:28

Yikes Kitten! That is a harsh way to end the week!
Sending positive thoughts and Gin!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/06/2018 08:32

Thanks Grin We might all be needing that tonight!

DS did the two maths papers today - mechanics and decision I think. DS is feeling chipper - hope all the DCs on thread are feeling chipper too - and it's the weekend! -Have fun all :)

STEPmum18 · 15/06/2018 22:43

OYBBK: Hope your daughter managed her exams ok today; that sounded a tough afternoon.
Pearls : Good to hear things are going well in your house.
DS was happy with yesterday's physics paper and has had a day off today. Next week is a busy one for him - two STEP papers and two Core Maths papers. Then one more maths paper the following week. On the downward slope now! Its the STEP on Monday that's beginning to play on my mind now (although DS isn't saying much about it). I hope it isn't too awful.

SodTheGreenfly · 15/06/2018 22:53

I feel for you all. A year ago, ish, it was about 33° and I had to go out first thing between dd's snivels and find a supersonic air cooler. The only one was £379 (I think) because she could only revise in her uber hot bedroom. Not the drawing room or dining room - oh no. A friend who had spent time in the tropics also passed pn the wrapping of a naked body in a wet towel with a cold tea towel about the head. She also had a bowl with icecubes for feet and dunking of teatowel.

Twelve months on and she's just pissed off about the unreasonableness of compass shifts.

Flowers it sucks.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/06/2018 23:09

It does Sod!

Thanks Step :) She said it was fine. Bit tough to do one after the other.
Next week is the big one isn't it. I'm dreading it.

Good luck to OYBBK DD

DS is working too hard again. Seriously far too hard. He went out for dinner with his lovely GF on Friday but since then he's been hitting the past papers relentlessly. His only exam next week is Chemistry but he's worried about FP3 the following week.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/06/2018 19:09

Thanks Pearls. I hope your ds can let himself have some down time before the exam.

Good luck to all STEPpers this morning!

HesMyLobster · 18/06/2018 07:41

Good Luck STEPpers, and any others with exams today 🍀

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/06/2018 08:16

Good luck everyone!

Just back from dropping DS at school. Sending positive vibes to all DC doing STEP this morning. X

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/06/2018 09:44

How are you holding up STEP?

dd set off super early this morning, so it already feels like it's been a really long day. Confused

OP posts:
STEPmum18 · 18/06/2018 11:27

Is it just me or is time passing incredibly slowly this morning? I'm doing OK -thanks for asking OYBBK. How about you? I've been trying to keep busy do at least the house is looking a bit tidier than usual! I hope there are at least a couple of questions that all the DC feel they can tackle well so theyou don't have their confidence completely shattered. Not long to go now.
And as I said to DS, even if he couldn't answer any of the questions, I'm still so proud that he's got this far.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/06/2018 13:17

Time was so so slow. I was a ball of anxiety in case dd came out upset but I think things went well for dd. She seems happy from her texts. Is your ds ok?

OP posts:
STEPmum18 · 18/06/2018 13:53

Yes DS seems fine. He says he got just about to the end of two of the questions and a reasonable amount of the way through a few others so hopes he will have six answers that they can mark. I was very up beat and said all the right things about how it's good to now be half way through STEP but then he told me that he thinks the next one will be "Rubbish because I don't even understand what the questions are asking, never mind try to work them out". It's the first time that he's really said anything so negative. Maybe the stress is actually beginning to get to him. Or maybe he really doesn't understand the questions in STEP 3. If that's the case, I wish he'd mentioned it sooner!! It's a bit late to do anything now as he's got Core 3 and Core 4 to do this week. Still, he seems reasonably pleased with how this morning went so I'll just go with that for now.
On a different note, I just received some lovely flowers through the post. It was a complete surprise - a thank you from someone I helped out last week - and they made my day!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/06/2018 13:59

I'm really glad he's pleased. I hope he doesn't worry too much about Thursday's STEP, the boundaries are lower.

How lovely about the flowers :) they must have really appreciated your help.

Can you believe they've got to go through this again on Thursday?

YippeeTeenager · 18/06/2018 20:04

You poor STEP people! I really don’t envy you going through that too, it sounds awful on top of everything else but glad to hear STEPmum and OYBBK that your DS and DD did well today. It was Biology 3 today here, so now that’s the last of Biology, which seems real progress. Good luck everyone for tomorrow!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/06/2018 20:40

That is real progress! :)
c3 tomorrow, so more chilled, especially as it's afternoon, so there won't be an alarm going off at ungodly hour.

OP posts:
YippeeTeenager · 18/06/2018 20:51

C3 here too Kitten, and glad it’s not an early start! DD worn out tonight.

HesMyLobster · 18/06/2018 21:14

Another C3 here. This one is DD's nemesis - she did badly in the mock in January and although she's confident now that she understands the processes, she really struggles with time.
She keeps saying she wishes it was 2 hours instead of 90 mins.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/06/2018 21:26

I'm not sure what she can do to speed up Lobster, but it is better to be accurate than to rush through making mistakes and then not being able to find them and panicking.

OP posts:
toomanytolist · 19/06/2018 14:41

C3 here too, not one of the ones DD is worried about. I hope that's still the case when it's over! Just 3 x maths after today and then she's done. Can't come a minute too soon!
