Have joined your other thread kitten as well. Seems a bit more relaxed somehow. But it is also good to have Oxbridge place too for related support - maybe not so active on here at moment as DC have heads down working??

We've had that conversation Kitten! DD's insurance means she could live at home so shopping after results I think

That would definitely make sense toomany.

It may not be necessary to shop yet but kitten I understand that it is all part of the overall excitement! Normal for us mums to think ahead.

I think that's the case alittlechampagne :) we had the mega stress before the offers went out, I suppose there isn't much to say at the moment. Good to have you on this thread too!

I think most of the shopping will be done in august, but we are also keeping an eye out for any bargains, or stuff that looks particularly useful. Spread the financial shock as it's going to be quite an expensive time.

x post!

I think it is very normal to be thinking ahead, and I'm definitely one for planning Wink For us it's also part of the preparation of letting go and mentally preparing for a brand new phase in life,

Also, I was looking forward to DD's Offer Holders day this weekend as haven't set foot in Cambridge for years and have never seen DD's college. But postponed due to snow to the end of April. Very disappointed! Offer Holder days seem generally to be held by colleges that have large numbers of pooled candidates, which makes a lot of sense.

We might not be actually shopping until August, but the list has certainly been started and is growing quite fast! And knowing DD (and me!) I'm sure the odd thing will sneak in before August...

Sorry kitten but i'm not understanding your post "making conversation goodbye"

Oh ok Kitten I thought you were actually worried....

Oh ok Kitten I thought you were stressing. No need anyhow, they really can get by with very little and since rooms have to be cleared each term, less is more :)

Not sure how the odd double sentence happened but yes it makes absolute sense that offer holder days are held by colleges with lots of pooled applicants and I can see that it would account for the different practice between colleges.

I bought uni towels already in a brilliant sale in Sainsbury's a few weeks ago. :)

Also I watch copious amounts of Morse and Endeavour just to see the city. :)

How sad am I??

Big very good quality thick fluffy bath sheets for uni is the one thing we do push the boat out on. But the local department store has a top brand on offer each September regular as clockwork - ideal :)

My reasoning was if everything goes pear-shaped I have nice new towels for home! :)

Report
OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/03/2018 22:10

That's good to know about the towels. I'll keep an eye out then. Though I did wonder if we could get away with giving dd our old towels and splashing out for us Wink

I've not seen dds college either, only the outer walls. I'd love to know what it is like inside.

I have started a Really Useful Box, with basic tools in and stuff like that.
