Welcome Luckye :) dd knows someone being reinterviewed later this week. I know it prolongs things, but fingers crossed. It's good that your dd has been picked out as being intteresting.

Good luck everyone's dc. They've done so well to get to this point. I'm crossing our fingers for everyone here.

Good luck to everyone for tomorrow. Smile

Nearlyoldenoughtowearpurple · 09/01/2018 21:51

Good luck all , second time around for us. Dd reapplying after narrow miss last year. I think I’m more twitchy than she is ( just worried about picking up the pieces again) . She is in a better place this year though without the associated exam stress.
Her Cambridge college has def said they will be emailing tomorrow and not sending a letter.
Fingers crossed for all of our dc.

marmiteloversunite · 09/01/2018 21:54

Good luck all and hope you get some sleep!!

Hubble25 · 09/01/2018 22:24

Goodnight everybody and thanks for all the support through this process. Will be thinking of you tomorrow.

HeyBells · 09/01/2018 22:28

Good Luck everyone for tomorrow.

HesMyLobster · 09/01/2018 22:35

DD has her friend staying over so that she won't be alone if she gets news in the morning (DH and I both have early start tomorrow)
Usually we have a no sleepovers on a school night rule, but I can't imagine there would have been much sleep anyway, and it's a very welcome distraction for her.

I'm breaking another self imposed rule (new years resolution!) and opening a bottle of wine on a school night Blush in the hope that it might help me sleep!

Wishing lots of good luck to all your brilliant DC Wine

Luckye · 09/01/2018 23:00

Hi Pandag yes she has. We weren’t expecting to hear anything until tomorrow but on Saturday out of the blue she got an email from one of the all girls colleges telling her she was in the pool and asking her for interview. I’ve gone from being fairly nonchalant and resigned to whatever happens to being a nervous wreck! It seems just cruel to put her (and me!!) through the stress of interview again!!

A boy who was rejected from Oxford last year talking about his experience (with a big smile on his face) - very refreshing and good for perspective.

Thinking of you all tomorrow, I don’t envy you!

toomanytolist · 09/01/2018 23:36

Wishing so much luck to all our DC for tommorrow and wishing so much success to them for their futures, whatever the results.

And wishing all of us the ability to say the right thing, be the right thing and celebrate or commiserate with our DC in a way that's just what it needs to be. Gulp!!

Here we go....

Tuo · 10/01/2018 00:02

Occasional lurker, delurking to say that DD is expecting to hear something tomorrow... She seems calm enough, and knows that she has other good options if Cambridge doesn't come off, but still... I just want it all to be over (which, of course, it won't be till the Fat Lady sings on results day in August... Aaaargh!).

toomanytolist · 10/01/2018 00:35

Welcome Tuo
Looking forward to you sharing it all with us tomorrow
As you say - aaaagh!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/01/2018 06:48

We,come Tuo :)

Morning all. I had a self allowed break off dry January last night for a small beer. Did it help? Not one bit. argh. As well as all our dc getting the result they would like, I also hope they get it nice and early to put us everyone out of their misery.

Good morning!
Hope everyone managed a bit of sleep.
Left DD in bed this morning, hopefully she’ll sleep in and have less of a wait!
Will try and log in around lunchtime and hoping to see lots of good news here by then.
Thinking of you all (is it too early for gin?!) Gin

whiteroseredrose · 10/01/2018 07:48

So, inspired by the previous post... . While we're waiting does anyone have stories about renowned scientists, musicians etc. who were rejected by Oxbridge but went on to great things?

Would be very helpful as not feeling very positive in the Rose household!

fatbottomgirl67 · 10/01/2018 08:21

I'm dreading the email arriving. . Hate the thought of dd being disappointed with the result. I know there are plenty if other places but don't like seeing her going through all this stress.

Whitlandcarm · 10/01/2018 08:31

J. k Rowling certain is one! She went to Exeter and studied French and ClassicsWink

Whitlandcarm · 10/01/2018 08:33

Certainly*

Tuo · 10/01/2018 08:35

Well, Rose... I'm not famous or anything, but I'm a professor in a RG university who was rejected by Oxford (didn't even get an interview), which is probably why I'm quite pragmatic about the whole thing. Now, looking back, I know I'd have hated Oxford, and I think not getting in was a lucky break. My DD is a different character, and I do think Cambridge would suit her, but it's not the be-all and end-all...

[Doesn't mean I'm not obsessively checking for texts from her today, mind...]

kaiserschmarrn · 10/01/2018 08:43

Welcome , tuo.

DS has a mock this morning. He seems quite relaxed but it's hard to tell. I am keeping my expectations low.

Very best of luck to all your talented, motivated, hardworking DCs. They will be fine!

whiteroseredrose · 10/01/2018 08:43

Thanks Tuo.

I actually think DS would enjoy the extra 'space' of a 10 week term too. But it would be the first time he's had a knock back (although there'll always be a first one of those!). Just thinking of ways to soften the blow. 🙂

Risotto301 · 10/01/2018 08:50

Hi all! finally we are HERE!
I woke up at 8am HK time today, read all the messages on MN and TSR, managed to sleep again till 1130! Then kept myself busy lunching with my niece, did my manicure, shopping/baking/cooking... now it’s 1650 in the afternoon! The decision may come anytime!

My feelings are mixed but I would say excited more than anxious! I am happy that the wait will be over soon and we can move on with whatever plan to be, which I believe must be a better , destined plan for DS!

I would be happy and proud regardless of the outcome!

Risotto301 · 10/01/2018 08:56

Oh just got msg from DS, he got 39degree fever and now in med centre! I hope it’s not caused by the nerves!

PandaG · 10/01/2018 08:59

Really feeling for DS today, he and 2 best mates plus at least 10 other friends all expecting to hear today. Whatever his specific result some will be happy and others dejected. So glad I am on a team vision day, at least will be with people and busy...

Saker · 10/01/2018 09:14

Well I think we are the first to hear. We got an email from LMH first thing this morning and it's a rejection. Sad. Ds1 felt like he had done well in both interviews so he was a bit taken aback as he didn't even get pooled, so it was basically a straight rejection. But on the positive side it was going to be a difficult choice between the Joint Course in Manchester and Oxford and now that choice is made for him. He seems okay but I think it might hit him later and hard for him if all his friends get in although not wishing any ill luck on them.
