Hopefully this is in time!

My dd at different college today too. She's been told it's to moderate her chosen college's results from her previous 2 interviews. Hopefully she'll be dismissed very soon after that as she has a long ish train trip home. Been assured that today is last day for interviews, not sure if that's subject specific. Be glad when it's all over

Nearly there Inchy and Fatbottom. When does everyone finish for Christmas?

I’ve been pondering a little (I do that a lot Grin ) on what it will be like this time next year when we have them home from what ever university they end up at. How different will they be?

OYBBK it will certainly be a year of change for all of us!! Maybe we can have a 'Starting university any where' thread' next year.

itinerant · 13/12/2017 12:26

I’m up for that, wherever they end up!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 13/12/2017 12:44

I’m sure we will be having one of those threads!

They won't be very different. My eldest wasn't, perhaps a little more grateful for home comforts. The world is small nowadays and they remain v easily accessible.

HostofDaffodils · 13/12/2017 15:36

My daughter was better at cooking. She appreciated the oven - there wasn't one in her university kitchen - and was overjoyed by seeing cupboards full of food. She had also acquired her first proper boyfriend, so I had to get used to seeing her in an adult relationship and him visiting/staying over.

I also had to get used to knowing less about her world and/or having to listen/ask questions in order to try and acquaint myself with what she was doing.

At times she wanted to relapse back into little girlhood so we had to have some conversations about what we expected of her.

Dancingdreamer · 13/12/2017 18:07

My DD also had an interview at another college today. Coincidentally, it was one that was on her shortlist after visiting at the Open Day. She would be very happy at either should she be lucky enough to get an offer.

whiteroseredrose · 13/12/2017 20:27

DS also had a third interview at a different college. Went better than the first two apparently. Others were a bit 'stumbling'. Anyway. Over and done with now. Mocks start tomorrow then we can relax a bit over Christmas.

Fingers crossed for everyone for positive outcomes in January, from whichever college or uni!

toomanytolist · 13/12/2017 23:03

DD got an offer from Imperial this evening following an interview 2 weeks ago. Let's hope that's a good sign!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/12/2017 07:54

that’s good toomany :) well done to him!

Bravo toomany
We are still waiting on LSE and Durham
Do universities inform in the negative?

Hubble25 · 14/12/2017 23:25

itinerant - I really do believe that it is only a matter of waiting for Durham. 66% of offers will be made after January 15th apparently. Your DS was interviewed at Oxford - he will surely get an offer at Durham if his predicted grades meet the entrance requirements. I hope he gets it sooner but it will come I am sure.
Know nothing about LSE so can't help there.

Well done to toomany DS.

Hubble25 · 14/12/2017 23:27

toomany DD - sorry!

TabbyTigger · 14/12/2017 23:36

Durham and LSE are both definitely slow - DS’s gf applied in early October last year and only got her offer in January (for English in this case, but I know DS’s friends had to wait ages for other subjects - if they didn’t apply until December they didn’t hear until March at the earliest) and a family friend’s daughter applied for business management at LSE and kept getting emails about how she’d got through certain “rounds” or something, before finally getting the offer three months after applying. Don’t read anything into having to wait, it means nothing!

whiteroseredrose · 15/12/2017 07:46

DS has had an offer from Durham, about 10 days ago which was a surprise. Number one and number two choices - nada!

kaiserschmarrn · 15/12/2017 17:38

Hubble and Tabby, thanks for the info about Durham. I know they have a reputation for being slow but I sincerely hope we don't have to wait until March!

Dancingdreamer · 15/12/2017 18:04

My friend's DD has had an offer from Durham for Geography AAA I believe.

TabbyTigger · 15/12/2017 19:33

I think most who’d applied pre-Oxbridge deadline heard November-January so hopefully you’ll get something soon Smile

user1464118261 · 18/12/2017 01:36

My DD has had offers now from Durham, LSE, Bristol and Exeter so very happy although Cambridge is her preferred choice even after tough interview.

voilets · 18/12/2017 22:06

Really good news. My DD was talking to a friend tonight at senior prize giving who just went to Durham who reassured DD , 'don't worry you'll hear soon - I did at Christmas!'. Lo and behold - DD received her offer tonight. We were expecting it after the Cambridge 'rejection' Grin She loved the look of Durham and feel of course - so mighty relief!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/12/2017 22:11

That is good news Voilets!

HesMyLobster · 18/12/2017 23:31

That's wonderful news Voilets- congratulations to you DD.

Dd received an email from Durham at the weekend saying that she was still under consideration but that no offers for her subject would go out until after the 15th January deadline.
So at least she knows not to expect to hear anything before then.

voilets · 19/12/2017 08:56

Good lucklobster. After UCAS deadline seems most usual. 66% of offers then I read.

whiteroseredrose · 19/12/2017 22:46

Just got offer through from Imperial. Odd time for it to come through but so glad it's before Christmas!
