Maybe because it is August tomorrow - but seems to have come round quickly. Had a nice break not thinking about anything since last exam and after full on year choosing, applying, getting rejected, getting offers etc....

Might as well switch off and try and get distracted for the next 18 days....as either way it will be v busy few days/weeks after results to get started on next phase of his life.

PFB -- any old hands out there want to give me a slap?

Grin Million!

Dunlurking · 22/08/2016 17:32

Oh and also - toffeenose very pleased to hear your ds has come round on the Durham place. Congratulations to him and Wine to you as well.

Any more MNers with good news over Clearing etc today??

Phaedra11 · 22/08/2016 18:43

I've been lurking on this thread since the beginning (finding it comforting to remember others were going through the same anxious wait, but feeling an odd superstitious reluctance to say anything about DS's situation at all)!

I just wanted to come out of lurkdom to say how relieved I am that Coco's DD got a response and how happy I am that it was the one she wanted.

My DS got his first choice, Sheffield so happy and relieved for him too.

I may become more vocal on any forthcoming empty nest thread. PFB so this is going to be a big deal for me!

Brilliant news coco. Glad it all worked out for your DD in the end. I expect you need a very large glad of Wine now!

NapoleonsNose · 22/08/2016 19:11

Or even a glass!

Cocolepew · 22/08/2016 19:21

Thank you Phaedra, glad to have pulled you out of lurking Grin well done, to your DS.
Thank you Napoleon ☺️

At least Im not going to have an empty nest, I'm stuck with DD for the next three years Wink

hellsbells99 · 22/08/2016 19:47

Well done to the DCs of Coco, Toffee and Phaedra and all the rest of the DCs. Hopefully they will all be fine whereever they go!
We are just in the middle of confirming 2 lots of accommodation and trying to sort out slots for both of my freshers this year Shock

justdontevenfuckingstart · 22/08/2016 20:00

Woooooooooooooo well done, what a relief congrats xx

justdontevenfuckingstart · 22/08/2016 20:02

hells we finally sorted accom an hour ago. Lots of choice still left. Hope same for yours.

Just5minswithDacre · 22/08/2016 20:12

Phaedra (and the other Sheffield people, sorry can't remember who) did you see that Sheffield are offering free Masters degrees up to the value of £10k to students who do their UG there? Great deal from such a good uni (in a lovely city).

Just5minswithDacre · 22/08/2016 20:29

NOT that anyone needs to think about postgrad yet GrinBlush

ReadyToSignOff · 22/08/2016 20:36

Congratulations cocolepew great news! I'm sorry everyone, but I cracked and rang on his behalf Sad - The uni didn't mind, especially as he called them on results day. He will have to do stuff like that soon, rather than rely on me, I know.

hellsbells99 · 22/08/2016 21:09

We have just confirmed DD2's accommodation but apparently can't book a moving slot until 2nd September! In the meantime, DD1 has been offered a choice of 3 days but I don't know what DD2 will be able to select. This is not helping. Both start the same weekend.

jaxxyj · 22/08/2016 22:00

Well done to DCs of Coco,Toffee and Phaedra! Phew! I am now finally done with helping sort both DD and DS and definitely deserve a glass of wine tonight! After supporting DS to have contact with the accomodation office for 3 hours this morning (had to take the morning off work) he finally managed to get affordable Halls down from 12k to 5k! One in Edinburgh, one in Londonish - at least they start on different weekends! Thank you all for your support, couldn't have kept my cool without keeping coming back here!

hellsbells99 · 22/08/2016 22:10

well done jaxxyj! Have some Wine

dreamingofsun · 23/08/2016 04:54

hope you get somewhere thats OK coco.

My DS has gone into meltdown as he's been offered his 4th choice of halls, and reading online reviews doesn't seem to have much going for it except new washing machines. Mould and no wifi are one thing, but putting a party animal in somewhere really quiet is bothering him/me more.

Phaedra11 · 23/08/2016 07:10

Thanks for the well wishes and the help with MAs for Sheffield students is definitely worth knowing about. Thank you 5mins.

So now we have accommodation to think about. Hellsbells, I hope you get your two synchronised, sounds a bit of a nightmare. We had hoped to travel in convoy with friend starting at Sheffield Hallam. I hadn't thought about days and time slots and had naively imagined us just sauntering in some time over the weekend when we were ready!

dreamingofsun - I suspect your DS won't be the only party animal to be given this choice and that they'll find it not as quiet as they fear!

dreamingofsun · 23/08/2016 07:16

phaedra - i hope you are right. at least he's going and we didn't have to go through clearing this year.

Cocolepew - a very belated phew! for your DD - you must be so delighted. Do you have any fingernails left at this stage?

Cocolepew · 24/08/2016 21:46

Thanks Hassled, I've just managed to get rid of a 3 day stressed induced migraine!
Good luck with all the accommodation hunting, for those having to do it.
I hope eveyone on this thread DCs are happy with their choices and enjoy the next year no matter what they are doing Smile
