Maybe because it is August tomorrow - but seems to have come round quickly. Had a nice break not thinking about anything since last exam and after full on year choosing, applying, getting rejected, getting offers etc....

Might as well switch off and try and get distracted for the next 18 days....as either way it will be v busy few days/weeks after results to get started on next phase of his life.

PFB -- any old hands out there want to give me a slap?

Did she get the grades she needed Random?

RandomMess · 17/08/2016 22:54

Yep where I work does and I'm helping all day Sat...

Very glad I'm not manning the phones!

itfcbabe · 17/08/2016 22:56

My son checked the grade boundaries for English Language the only A-level he took and his coursework is 1 point off a C!!!

He needs a C I hope his exams gets that 1 point up.

I am starting a new job tomorrow only applied yesterday evening so not around till 3.30 to help him if he doesn't get that C.
His older brother who is about to start his 2nd year at Uni is at home to help push him if needed.

Fingers crossed for everyone's son or daughter tomorrow.xx

hairymairyfromthedairy · 17/08/2016 23:05

Mine is still at his girlfriend's house - I feel sick thinking about tomorrow & keep having hot sweats!! He seems convinced he hasn't done well enough for either of his choices although he didn't seem that despondent when he was sitting the exams!

Needmoresleep · 17/08/2016 23:12

Best wishes to everyone.

The STEP thing sounds awful. You know at midnight that you are going to need an A* in the A level. At this point I think sleep would be impossible.

EllenJanethickerknickers · 17/08/2016 23:19

I know, but he won't sleep if he knows it's available and he hasn't checked! Your name is very appropriate tonight. Grin

MorvahRising · 17/08/2016 23:27

I'm not sure I shall sleep at all . . . . . am in bed, but wide awake and stressing! Meanwhile DH is spark out dreaming happily. He is in the 'what will be will be' corner. I am not.

Peebles1 · 17/08/2016 23:59

We're still up - she woke up again (with a stress headache). She's offered for me to go in with her to college in the morning. That's unexpected.

EllenJanethickerknickers · 18/08/2016 00:08

Ah, grade 2 STEP, 2 marks off a grade 1. Oh well, that's actually closer than expected. Bit frustrating for DS1 but I'm proud of him.

homebythesea · 18/08/2016 00:13

Just popping by to say good night and thanks again for your kind comments about my MIL

DS in resigned mood. He commented that if he doesn't get to where he wants tomorrow AND Granny dies then it will be the worst day ever. But in the next breath he says "but I'm still going out clubbing though". Something about the black humour in that made us both burst out laughing. Quite a nice way to end the day 😀

Peebles1 · 18/08/2016 00:21

That's nice Home, good to keep smiling. Hope it goes well tomorrow.

Well done to your DS Ellen. Two marks off! Frustrating but he did really well. Hope he gets what he needs tomorrow.

Janjanmama · 18/08/2016 02:58

Good luck everyone! We still have a few hours to go! Smile

hobobulate · 18/08/2016 03:50

I'm awake! Did manage to sleep, but woke up about 3 and couldn't get back to sleep. ellensorry ds missed his grade 1 . Sounds like he did really well though. Good luck for the morning.
Ds1 needs an A* and an A. Not much room for manoeuvre! Only 3 hours to go now for us......

IDismyname · 18/08/2016 03:55

I've decamped to the spare room. Both DH and I are struggling to sleep.

This is agonising. I had no idea what people were going through. I will be SO much more sympathetic to others in the years to come over this awful wait!

hobobulate · 18/08/2016 04:02

Not long now ishould

inwinethereistruth · 18/08/2016 04:47

I'm awake too! Just sitting in the garden on my second cuppa.
Oodles of luck to everyone's Dcs out there in MN land. Dd needs AAA with no leeway at all on her firm offer. I only discovered the other day that she needs 90% at A2 to get that A, I was reasonably calm before that.
Not long now all 😘

hobobulate · 18/08/2016 04:48

I've given up trying to get back to sleep, I'm downstairs drinking coffee!
DS is awake, watching something on his laptop and being generally non communicative. Please, please, please let it be good news!

hobobulate · 18/08/2016 04:50

morning inwine good luck to your dd, and indeed all MN babies!

hobobulate · 18/08/2016 05:14

anyone else up yet? DS1 just gone in shower....we will be leaving home at 6.30, to be at school for 7. DS doesn't want us to come in building with him...fair enough. I just want to know NOW!

Dunlurking · 18/08/2016 05:33

I'm up as well. So sorry for the rest of you who spent the night like me - 2 hours downstairs in the middle of the night and woke hourly the rest of the night. It's worse than 2 long haul flights with a couple of hours changing planes in Dubai at 2am Shock

I had one small success last night when I found another course for ds to consider for clearing - he's up to 3, with one still being way too big an ask in grades. It could be an awful jolt of reality for him this morning.....

Good luck all. Not long now. Well done to your ds for his STEP. Ellen Sorry about the 2 mark miss.

Lomaamina · 18/08/2016 05:34

Ive been up since 4. I was convinced I'd sleep, but no chance. Sheer agony. DS is bewilderingly confident he's got enough for his firm, but I'm the family pessimist, so I won't rest till I know for sure... Especially as AS results had a couple of unexpected blips which he's retaken this year.

inwinethereistruth · 18/08/2016 05:35

I'm still here hobo, all showered, hair done and now contemplating full face make up to pass the time.
Thank you for your good luck message, good luck also to your Ds1 and everyone waiting this morning.
We are setting off at 7 to drive to school. Dd is awake but just lying there. I think I'll pop in with some tea for her.

smilingeyes11 · 18/08/2016 05:48

I'm awake- been refreshing UCAS since 4, even though I know it is pointless.

thepurplehen · 18/08/2016 05:53

Good luck everybody. Slept really badly. Today is potentially such a life changing day. I hope everybody gets what they need and if they don't, that plan b is a positive thing.

hobobulate · 18/08/2016 06:03

right, I've showered and dressed, slapped on a bit of foundation, put a load of washing on....
now drinking a cup of peppermint tea as I decided more caffeine was a bad idea!!
Leaving the house in 25 mins...
