Maybe because it is August tomorrow - but seems to have come round quickly. Had a nice break not thinking about anything since last exam and after full on year choosing, applying, getting rejected, getting offers etc....

Might as well switch off and try and get distracted for the next 18 days....as either way it will be v busy few days/weeks after results to get started on next phase of his life.

PFB -- any old hands out there want to give me a slap?

Hmmmm, mine said she was off out, thought she'd been a long time - went to check and she was also asleep coconutty. Maybe all our DCs will be asleep by 10 - tired out with the worry?!

hobobulate One of the unis was Reading which is DD's firm choice. She wasn't emailed though Sad

poppledopple · 17/08/2016 21:16

Bucking a PP up thread tells of a situation last year where uni accommodation emailed confirming accommodation early which DC assumed meant she was in.....but that was not the case. HORRIFIC

Only ucas track will confirm if you have your place at 8am (unless you get grades from school earlier which meet or exceed offer)

10 and a bit hours to go....feel sick....Ds keeps asking do you think I have got in...and then randomly recalls a Q that he thinks he mucked up on a paper (didnt mentions that at the time)

DS is in the shower. Plans on staying up till midnight when his STEP result comes through. It's going to be a long night...

Northernlurker · 17/08/2016 21:20

Just ordered pizza as need o eat but can't concentrate on food. Dh is tense, this is not good as it's my role to be the tense parent and his to chill. If he's swapping roles after 18 years I think that's a worrying sign

HmmGrin

I am rubbish at chilling too. Ok, less than 11 hours......,...

Leeds2 · 17/08/2016 21:20

Does he need the STEP, EllenJane? Good Luck to him. Only two and a half hours to wait now.

lionheart · 17/08/2016 21:23

Napoleon, I think they only sent 370 odd emails so only a partial release.

Leslieknope45 · 17/08/2016 21:24

Good luck to everyone! I'm a teacher and I am super nervous about tomorrow! Feels slightly worse than when I got my own a level results.

flyright · 17/08/2016 21:27

Aaaagggghhhh

DD s course in clearing with same grades on the university's website as her offer. AAB. so does that mean she's no chance of being accepted if she's slipped a grade?

Stress city. Good luck everyone.

EllenJanethickerknickers · 17/08/2016 21:29

Leeds Either grade 1 in STEP and A in FM or grade 2 and A* in FM for Warwick. He and I think grade 2 and an A is the most likely result, though, but good enough for his insurance at Exeter AAA (Cross fingers) Thank you!

TaIkinPeace · 17/08/2016 21:38

DH and I were commenting over supper how depressing all the media hype is.
Back in the stone age when he and I got our results it was all letters and possibly a few phone calls.

hobobulate · 17/08/2016 21:42

oh gosh...it is probably best to try not to second guess at this stage.
ds is in his room, says he thinks he won't sleep at all tonight.
he doesn't need his STEP for either of his offers, so claims he isn't going to bother checking the results Hmm
we will be at school for 7am tomorrow....not long now......
He has worked so hard, and I know will be soooo gutted if he doesn't get his first choice.

hobobulate · 17/08/2016 21:52

northrnlurker I think if dh decided to be tense at this stage it would tip me over the edge. 18 years on is very late to swap roles!!

hobobulate · 17/08/2016 21:54

ok, can confirm this is DEFINITELY worse than waiting for my own results 20 odd years ago!

Hassled · 17/08/2016 22:03

You're right - it is way worse. I'll just be absolutely gutted for DS if it doesn't work out for him - he worked so hard, and he wants it so much. And he's one of those kids who isn't really used to failure - I don't know how he'll be with it.

RandomMess · 17/08/2016 22:08

I know the grades my DD has (she doesn't know I know), she is on holiday at the moment.

It is torture, especially as she is having wobbles about if she even wants to go to her first choice.

poppledopple · 17/08/2016 22:12

Our school are posting grades online same time as ucas updates at 8am - I was initially envious of those whose schools are releasing at 7am - which would be all good for those who have met or exceeded their offer - but for those who have missed it a very looooong hour to wait. DS not bothered by grades just wants his place....in our case will def look at ucas ahead of school website.

Napoleons Nose, my DD's firm choice is Reading as well, she also didn't get the e-mail.

Her course has appeared on the Reading clearing page- they haven't dropped the grade requirements either.

Urrrgghh this is awful!

Good luck to eveyone ❤️

RandomMess · 17/08/2016 22:38

Through my job, although I have DD permission to collect her grades I can't tell her til 8am

poppledopple · 17/08/2016 22:47

"Her course has appeared on the Reading clearing page- they haven't dropped the grade requirements either."

DONT PANIC - some unis are publishing their lowest clearing grades and some are not - they are just leaving up the standard grades but this does not mean that this is their minumum. DS course standard offer AAA at both unis - both are in clearing one publishing BBB minimum other just says standard AAA - but I know that they will (or could) also go to BBB as I called
and asked earlier in the year what was the lowest that they had taken in past couple of years -- (although no guarantees that this year will be same - but assume similar).

Have also seen that some unis have clearing lines open at the weekend (mornings only) - thought we would get some respite>>>>
