Thought we might need a new thread for the results...

dd is in. Phew.

Littleham, I think you are right. Really good luck.

BlueStringPudding · 14/08/2014 07:48

Dd got AAB which means she definitely has a place at her insurance, which is great. However on Track her firm (Bristol) is showing as Conditional still, she needed AAA so has missed the offer. They've not rejected her yet though so she is going to call them.

To complicate things slightly one of the scores on her B subject was unexpectedly low as she felt she had done really well on that paper, so we are trying to work out whether a remark would !take sense, but how long do they take and how long will her Insurance keep her place? Also it would impact her accommodation options at her insurance choice too I presume? decisions..

boys3 · 14/08/2014 07:49

ona likewise I think here.

Track says insurance (Durham) met, Cambridge still shows as conditional offer.

First timer so not quite sure what track says if you don't make your offer.

DS1 a bit down. School not open until 9 am for actual results.

If it is definitely Durham, still I think a fantastic result.

Needmoresleep · 14/08/2014 07:49

Littleham, a bit of Googling and this from UCAS to the same question:

"that means your university hasn't sent us their decision yet"

They suggest contacting the University.

DS is in. Then pleads to be allowed to go back to sleep.

Littleham · 14/08/2014 07:55

Thanks Needmoresleep. Will get her to contact the University when the lines open.

Happy to say, DD going to Cambridge! She's gone back to bed now........

Needmoresleep · 14/08/2014 07:57

Blue String, we have asked for three remarks to date: 2 x GCSE and 1 x AS. Two resulted in significantly increased marks and improved grades. The last was GCSE Eng Lang two years ago that threw up all sorts of surprises. Errors are made.

First step can be to ask for the script. This can be with the school within a few days. Teacher should be able to advise whether an emergency remark is worth asking for.

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 14/08/2014 08:00

They need to ask for a PRIORITY remark as they will lose their place if the conditions of the offer aren't met by 31st.

traceyinrosso70 · 14/08/2014 08:00

Littleham sorry about Durham but fingers crossed re Bristol !

GnomeDePlume · 14/08/2014 08:03

DD is in to her first choice (Biochem at Nottingham Trent). A few happy hugs & tears in the DePlume household.

We were only testing that the UCAS site was open!

Littleham · 14/08/2014 08:04

Congrats to BeckAndCall and TraceyinRosso. Brilliant news!

Needmoresleep · 14/08/2014 08:04

Sorry, Lets Face is right. I was thinking back to AS. Worth asking for. Mistakes are made.

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 14/08/2014 08:05

Also they need to ring the uni and tell them that they are going for a priority remark. Having their ums marks to hand will help. The unis only get the graades so if they've missed a grade by a tiny bit, the uni won't know that.

I've got print outs and flow charts and everything

BlueStringPudding · 14/08/2014 08:06

Well done to your DD Beckandcall!

Needmoresleep thank you we will get the script first I think as if it went down it could mean she might then miss her Insurance.

She did get an AS paper remarked last year as she was 0.5UMS off an A, but it came back unchanged, so she resat it this year and got an A in it, although it is the subject that overall she now has a B in..

BlueStringPudding · 14/08/2014 08:09

ah cross posted, so it looks like we have to go straight for a priority remark then due to time. still hoping Bristol may take her with AAB, but if not then I think she'll go and check the mark scheme before deciding what to do..

Needmoresleep · 14/08/2014 08:10

Blue string, I read some figures recently which suggest only a tiny proportion of remarks go down. Many more go up. Your school should be able to advise. They may not have anyone who can look at the paper anyway.

zizza · 14/08/2014 08:11

Congratulations to those with firmed places and fingers crossed for those ringing in to plead with first choices :-)

ds is firmed for Reading, his first and only choice because he changed his mind about doing what he originally applied for (after some interviews and offers!) but Reading offered him the opportunity to duo a different course which he loves the sound of and noone else does. Would've been a gap year and a rethink otherwise so I'm so happy for him.

College website crashed so still waiting for actual results.

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 14/08/2014 08:17

I do hope anyone who's still biting their nails geets good news soon.

Congratulations to those DCs who are sorted.

fridayfreedom · 14/08/2014 08:18

Still throwing up so still waiting.....argh!!!!

TeaAndALemonTart · 14/08/2014 08:20

Apparently nearly 96,000 were remarked last year, 18% were changed. 17,000 Went up and 393 went down.

happystory · 14/08/2014 08:22

Dd has got in at her first choice, email from the uni. Won't know grades till later but.... All crying here. She had a very tough time esp in year 12 so am so proud of her.

46direct · 14/08/2014 08:28

Dd got B C D
Offer was CCC
C in the main subject.
What does she do?
I'm about to go to work!
Nothing on the offers page UCAS
Not updated

Littleham · 14/08/2014 08:32

Hi 46direct - My advice is to get your dd to ring the university, as the fact it hasn't disappeared as a choice means they are considering her. Also research clearing just in case.

OP posts:
lismore · 14/08/2014 08:38

DS is in at Cambridge!! Don't know actual results yet, just that his place is confirmed on track- off to school to get results now, not that the actual grades matter anymore.

Congrats to BeckandCall, Littleham, Headgirl, TraceyR and anyone I've missed and I hope it's good news for everyone else waiting.

Will pop back later to see how everyone is doing

LoofahVanDross · 14/08/2014 08:40

46direct - if she got BCD won't that equal CCC because of the B?
