Just decline your place if they offer it, lots of people I know have declined a couple to take the place they really want :)

mamicar · 19/02/2014 14:38

all done now Grin no more swatting up on the nmc or dignity. if nothing else today I learnt how to make an origami swan!

such a nice feeling, although I have to admit I am feeling a wee bit lost now. Its a really long time till uni starts and at this time of year I am usually pickking myself up and working out what I can do for next year (slight exageration only twice before). Oragami swan sounds good was this at the interview? I learnt how to make a bridge out of straws.

mamicar · 20/02/2014 19:47

Yeah. Was all very strange Grin

I luckily have plenty of college assignments to be doing starting.

Haven't done any since falling down the stairs. boys are off from tomorrow tooConfused

need a kick I think.

I could send you some dita to give you something to doWink

could you get some volunteering to keep you busy?

Found this a bit late but I have just completed my application form for midwifery and it will be going direct to Uni in the next couple of days.
I see a lot of you have already have had interviews and some have offers. I should know by the end of March if I have an interview.

Any tips on what to read up on if I do get to interview stage?

ThePortlyPinUp · 21/02/2014 11:58

Debs, there are loads of practice questions online for each branch of nursing, I applied for adult nursing so revised maths and literacy papers that had been used in previous interviews, plus read up on The Francis Report, The Keough Report, the NHS in the media at the moment and how I could apply the 6 C's to my experience etc. Hope that helps a bit :)

mamicar · 21/02/2014 14:54

few of my friends have applied to midwifery. are you in scotland? I think the application deadlines are different there.

Every child matters could be one thing you could read up on. I did as I applied for child nursing but there was a lot about midwives in there too Smile

Eeeeek I had an email today with a conditional offer which I've accepted!!!!! I'm so excited (and nervous) and never thought I'd get this far! Until September I hadn't been in a classroom for 16 years since I left school and for the last 12 I've been a sahm!! I'm so chuffed, it's my birthday on Sunday so this is the best present ever!!

Debs75 · 21/02/2014 20:56

Thanks Theportlypinup I will google them later.

Mamicar No not in Scotland in Hull, My Uni is direct apply only for midwifery for a deferred year, so they don't even start looking at Midwifery till March when most of the other Nursing places have been interviewed and allocated. Deadline is next Friday and head of admissions prefers them to be as late as possible so I have procrastinated a little.

mamicar · 22/02/2014 20:05

omg the wait.... Grin

OP posts:
Debs75 · 05/03/2014 19:02

So application was taken on Thursday, 1 day before deadline and I must have checked my emails 3 times a day every day since. I can't handle this waiting for someone else to decide my future.

Interviews are mid Aprl so should hear before end of March but that is so far away

mamicar · 06/03/2014 18:44

aww debs you are just starting!

I've had interviews. so waiting for decisions now too.

I know, how you have coped with the almost 6 month wait since applying I don't know

themonsteratemyspacebar · 06/03/2014 20:52

Well i have 2 interviews in the next month and am still waiting on my last option to get back to me.
First interview is on saturday and i am absolutely bricking it! I have momebts where im like 'yeah, i can do this' to 'oh my god, what am i doing this for? Theyre not gonna accept me'.
So frustrating. Gonna have a lie in tomorrow as i know i won't get a wink of sleep tomorrow night!
Eeeekkkkkkkk!

mamicar · 06/03/2014 21:26

I keep telling myself by this time next month I will know if im in or not. its been a long six months Wink

good luck on sat monster xx

OP posts:
mamicar · 10/03/2014 16:19

how did interview go? xx

OP posts:
themonsteratemyspacebar · 10/03/2014 16:36

Absolutely shocking :-(
I'm so angry at the whole process.
Think i got all questions right on the maths, the english which i was confident about ended up being nothing like the practice, so i think i failed that.
The interview was horrendous. I was literally bombarded with questions by these 2 guys, and didn't get a chance to show my personality at all. They just wanted answers IYSWIM?
But looking on every thread about the interviews and everyone who i spoke to on the day, all theirs were how i expected the interviews to be.
I just feel so duped, whereas if i had different interviewers, it would have gone soooo much better.

Sorry for the rant, im just absolutely fuming and gutted at the same time.
Just need to think of the next interview days, even though i wasn't really looking forward to them as they are group interviews.

Thanks for asking though! Hope you have much better news than im probably gonna get :-) xx

mamicar · 10/03/2014 18:11

Sad monster. my friend in college had a similar experience. one of the interviewers laughed each time she answered. she has put in a formal complaint.

you might enjoy the group interviews. I found them easier going xx

OP posts:
themonsteratemyspacebar · 10/03/2014 18:38

Thats what i am hoping for. Like more of a chat instead of an interrogation!
I just want them to get back to me and say no even though i know it will be, if that makes any sense?
One of the unis still havent got back to me which is annoying, surely most of the unis will be nearly finished interviewing by now?

How many replies are you waiting for? All this is torture! Xx

mamicar · 10/03/2014 19:40

ive applied to three uni's. one of which are srill interviewing till 28th March.

had interviews for all three and sods law I think my best interview was the one I dont want. its my last choice! but because I wasnt nervous I interviewed well lol

first interview was 31st jan. thay was group with role play which I really enjoyed!

second interview was more formal one on one and I was visibly shaking with nerves., plus I had fallen down the stairs quite badly 5 days before so was hobbliing, black and blue and had a fat lip!

cardiff was mini Interviews. was fun though. thinking outside the box sort of tasks :)

I really really want swansea though Wink

OP posts:
themonsteratemyspacebar · 13/03/2014 07:14

Did they not say how long they would take to get back to you?
Ours said 7-10 days. I don't think my nerves could take any longer than that!
I have read on the student room that someone has actually changed her mind and wants to go to another uni now due to them taking so long to get back to her. Hmm
Before she would have bitten their arm off to go but as its almost been 2 weeks, shes reconsidering!

Just waiting to see if she changes her mind again if given a place at the other uni. All this waiting does funny things to people Grin

mamicar · 14/03/2014 12:58

Christ 2 weeks. Lucky girl. I had my last interview on Feb 19th. Two have said we should hear by 31st March. The one I want have said end of mar/beginning of April.

By my reckoning this time in two weeks I should know for at least two of them.

OP posts:
mamicar · 20/03/2014 19:09

I am going to be a student nurse Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

offer from cardiff. still waiting from two others xx
