Oh and good on your dp for wearing a helmet. Trying to get the boys to wear one is just so tiring. DS2 wears one going to school and back - he is also doing his cycle proficiency at school on a Thursday. But any other time, they would rather not ride their bikes than wear a helmet.

TrillianAstra · 03/07/2010 19:02

If you cycle a racing bike with clip-in shoes you really really need a helmet! I admit that when I'm just cycling around town I dont' usually wear mine.

Lizzylou · 03/07/2010 19:05

Evening all, have had a bugger of a day at work, but only 6/7 more to do so gritted teeth.
Had to do all the viewings (they are sacking lovely Ann the viewng lady ) and it was bloody hot and I am knackered.
Some nice houses though.

Trills, hope DP is OK, good on him for wearing his helmet.

Vinny, your DS1 just sounds like an amazing young man, you've done such a wonderful job with him, I will be looking for tips!

Mittz, oh you poor, poor thing, honey. I don't know what to say just that I don't understand why shit stuff happens to such amazingly fab people and I wish I could magic it all away for you x

Bella, yep, turn to drink and good on you for the takeaway!

Fanny/Crispy, have wonderful times, it all sounds idyllic. A seafood BBQ?! I'm there

Bitter, lovely, hope you are OK. Have been thinking of you today.

Mousey, you are such a romantic, warm lass

Sooo, that's me then, have some white wine chilling and just had a roasted tomato and celery soup (was going to be Gazpacho but couldn't wait for it to cool ).

Alicetheinvisible · 03/07/2010 19:06

Evening all

Mitts have a just for you.

Trills - Ouch, poor manly pride too! Have a good evening, at least it is a nice evening for walking.

Bella - i think a stella and a curry is just what you need to get through the evening

DH has put up some of the ikea stuff while i went to bed for the afternoon think it will look good once everything is tidied and in the right place. We got a lamp that DH and i think is Very grown Up

Chicken stirfry with pad thai sauce this evening May have a G&T too....

PortiaNovmerriment · 03/07/2010 19:07

Sorry I've been awol- if you miss one day it gets hard to catch up, and then it just ran away with me.

I will have to pick it up as I go along, although I'm going to a barbie at DP's ex's soon.

I started a new 'job' today- grandad-sitting for a friend whose dad has had a fall and has had to move in with her. He is ninety, and told me loads of stories about The Olden Days. For five hours . He is lovely though.

Alicetheinvisible · 03/07/2010 19:07

Hi Lizzy

Alicetheinvisible · 03/07/2010 19:08

And Portia

Lizzylou · 03/07/2010 19:19

Hey lovely Alice, have you Ikeaed up the house now?
Your dinner (and G&T) sounds lovely. Glad you're feeling good, not long now!

Portia, that is a lovely thing to do, I used to love listening to my Great Nan, and my Nan talking about the Good ole days.

My Nan used to take a donkey on the train to the Lickey Hills (Fluffy will know em) and then charge for donkey rides.
Imagine, a donkey on a train?! Health and safety would go berserk these days

PortiaNovmerriment · 03/07/2010 19:21

Wow. I got lots of stories about him going poaching with his dogs

Mouseface · 03/07/2010 19:27

Evening, tis me, Mouseface.

Trills - your poor DP, I missed that in the thread. Glad your Fitfplos are going to get a good use tonight!! Have fun.

Lizzy - poor lovely Ann!!! And poor you for having a bigger workload in this heat.

Alice - dinner sounds yum!

Portia? Portia who? Kidding!!

Tis the only one I've dished out so far today so count yourself lucky missy!!

Well, BBQ yet again here tonight! And yes, I live off BBQ in the summer. Yum!!

Has anyone heard from Bitter? I and others were worried last night...

And Yank? Anyone know how she is today??

I bet Fanny and Crispy are on the tipsy side of sober by now!!!

Ah, my first vody. How nice. It would appear that MrMouse is well trained after all!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 03/07/2010 19:37

Oh Mitz, hope the garden gives you good vibes.

Did I forget to mention the air display by a Spitfire that I laid on for Crispy?

bellavita · 03/07/2010 19:38

Hello ladies...

Tummy now over flowing with curry and beer - was nice though

Lizzy, not long to go now.

Alice, do you feel better after your nap?

Porrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrttttttia - aww bless you for grandad sitting.

Does anyone know how bitter is today?

bellavita · 03/07/2010 19:41

Fanny are you having a good time? Crispy is one hot girl isn't she..

FiveGoMadInDorset · 03/07/2010 19:45

Having a great time thank you Bella. i think it must be the Officers Mess summer ball as we have just had an air display and I reckon there will be fireworks later.

She is fantastic, DH's have hit it off as have DC's so all is good.

bellavita · 03/07/2010 19:49

Aww, how fab!

VinnyTheTit · 03/07/2010 19:49

i am having spicy chicken kebab as i couldnt think of anything protien wise that i fancied, i am not eating the pitta or the salad just picking out the chicken

the man in the take away was very generous with the chicken though, i swear there are 2 whole chicken in here, i think he fancied me

wastingaway · 03/07/2010 20:50

Hello lovelies.

Mittz, hope the garden's helping.

Portia, that's a very cool job.

Lizzy, poor Ann, she sounded a grand dame.

Hope Mr. Trills (and his pride) recover quickly.

Bella, extra children sounds stressful.

Sounds like you've all had yummy food and have yummy drinks. Good.

I brought two grow bags back from garden centre in the buggy this morning, and then pushed sleepy, chunky DS to Morrisons and back this afternoon, my exercise for the day.

Mouseface · 03/07/2010 20:56

Bella - I did ask that earlier re Bitter and e-mailed her last night.

No word.

DeFluffy · 03/07/2010 20:58

Im not really here, Im bugging you all on fb and loading my Etsy shop, BUT just to bug Norm, I won a THIRD prize this morning from the same magazine!! Tickets to a quilting show at the NEC that I wanted! Am I the only subscriber??! 3 prizes in entering 2 months of competitions!

DeFluffy · 03/07/2010 21:07

Where's Bitter?

Mouse - how come you have her email you favourite you.

Lizzy - why they sacking the viewing lady?

Vinny - will be thinking of you tomorrow text us all the minute she says YES!!

Portia - that's brilliant, reminds me of my Grandad telling us tales of his adventures in the war. I miss him so much.

Started weaning Mole today, she buried her face in it she was so excited, nearly ripped my aarm off. Is well grumpy now though so maybe tummy is hurting.

Bitter - to cheer you up when you come back, today karma was after me. After my lecturing you last night, today I was swearing at DP, told him to 'f off' seriously, he'd annoyed me badly but can't remember why . I realised that dd who I thought was safely miles away was actually right behind him as I did it . Nearly died of shame and kept thinking about you laughing at me

I am lucky in that DP never swears at me or calls me anything no matter how many times I call him cunt a pig

Mouseface · 03/07/2010 21:11

Shineys - I've had an e-mail from Bitter (checked my spam ) and she said she's fine.

Just going to have an MN break for a while and is having a few 'ishoes' (to quote the delish Mittz) with H.

Thought I'd let you know. xx

DeFluffs - my mum quilts too!! She has done for years on and off depending on her MS. We have a quilting shop in the village here.

Apparently, it's extremely expensive!!

TotalChaos · 03/07/2010 21:14

spooky DeFluffy -I was just about to tell Portia to ask the guy about his war time experiences, I find all that stuff v. interesting!

Well done on your compo win - and do you know there is a new Dexter book out, £12.99 in HB, called I think Dexter the delicious.

Lizzy - phew, well done for being hard at work on a hot saturday

Bitter - hope you are OK pet. I am v. sweary when I drop things/things go wrong, so could not criticise anyone else's language!

Five - wow, the hostess with the mostess, carry on enjoying crispy

jet = hope those abs are kicking in and you feel better

hello everyone else!

TotalChaos · 03/07/2010 21:16

Mousey - glad you heard from Bitter, waves in friendly fashion in case Bitter is lurking.

Mittz - look after yourself, I worry your dad could end up upsetting you further.

DeFluffy · 03/07/2010 21:22

Bitter - don't stay away sweetie and I'm sorry if you are because I was so lecturey last night. I was on a roll Im afraid

Come back and I'll post you a brooch

Mouse can you cc and paste the above and send to Bitter for me please. I don't like the thought of her being sad.

Total - Ace re the book. Just bought the new Karin Slaughter and got the new Tess Gerritsen on order should be here next week.

Miitz - you need some 'normal' I think, you have too much on your plate . Come and stay here, with the 2 kids, DP, the 4 cats and me you'd be too tired/stressed to think of anything but HELPPPPPPPPPPPP

Mouse - we have a quilting shop in Bewdley, ridiculously expensive. I don't quilt myself but I use the material for the brooches. No idea really why I entered the quilt show ticket competition but DP's mum quilts so (although hes not speaking to her) hes going to offer her the tickets Maybe he'll use mime??
