So, here we are on the 63rd(?) thread...

Much intellectual discourse has been held...The big bang theory rewritten...thermodynamics hotly debated, the Election mused upon....

Alongside which, we coax, encourage, arse kick, tease, boost and cajole our way into a healthier lifestyle, with whatever 'diet' or exercise regime suits, and drinking more WATER (are we drinking our water ladies? )..

Please pay homage to our mascot as you enter the thread.

Anyway, where were we? The life and works of Aristotle I believe.....and over to you Total...

claudia - quick choc fix it chocolate butter icing. Icing sugar, coco, and bit of marg. if you add a tiny drop of coffee (liquid) it makes it less sweet.

But shhhh didnt tell you this.

ahem. try a carrott stick or a handful of dried fruit. well done for being good

VinegarTits · 19/04/2010 12:39

DeFluff at your dating disasters

i've had a few myself, i met the finnsters dad online, its the only way i get to meet men these days, bit out of practice though, as i gave dating sites a wide birth for a couple of years now

DeFluff · 19/04/2010 12:48

was just about to say hit the icing sugar!!

Come on then Vin, spill your dating stories

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 19/04/2010 12:49

I have been ironing since 9am.

There is still about 2 hours worth left

That will teach me not to do any washing for a week.

Defluff - at that dating story! This is why I can never get divorced. I haven't been on a date in a decade

Mitts - ommmm makes me think ommm nom nom, which is probably not helpful on this thread

I'm happy to throw out general positive thought though.

wastingaway · 19/04/2010 12:54

Afternoon everyone!

Defluff, , that guy sounds charming. Glad you're more chilled.

That was an odd thread.

I use a lot.
I save to mean various things, entirely dependent on context. Usually self-reproach.

DH is away again now til Thursday. We had a pleasant morning.

After the pre-planned bacon sandwich for breakfast I had the end off the Soreen, and then potato salad, lettuce and toms, cheese and crackers for lunch. No yoghurt as DS wanted another one.

DeFluff · 19/04/2010 12:57

BOF - You're not really having a break are you? I promise never to use again EVER. (sits on hands hard).

DreamsInBinary · 19/04/2010 12:58

at Bitter's stream of conscientiousness.

Just re-read that Shiney thread and it has made me grumpy. Oh and, sorry, but ... who starts a sentence with "Sorry, but.." other than guests on Jeremy Kyle?

Your pasting was entirely undeserved, DeFluff, I thought the Cos/Shiney revelation was hilarious. Love BBH's roundup.

Have eaten nothing for breakfasy, a chicken salad with no dressing and a creme egg. Am going for the balanced approach. I have my weigh-in tonight and am cringing in anticipation.

DreamsInBinary · 19/04/2010 13:00

I use to mean "hmm", so that can be "hmm...I think not", "hmm...what a load of crap", "hmm...wondering" or "hmm...silly me" etc

ClaudiaSchiffer · 19/04/2010 13:02

Phew, the urge has passed.

Thanks for the emergency choc icing tip - will save it for another time

Wasting - odd question perhaps - but do you mind your dh being away? I think I would be perfectly happy for my dh to be away a few nights every so often. I do love him, blah blah blah, but things are much, um, easier, when he's not around. Not to say I don't miss him etc but I am enjoying a night to myself.

Anyhoo, I'd better get up to bed, I'm nearing the end of a Lee Child thriller - my first one, and it's ACE.

DeFluff · 19/04/2010 13:04

DIB - Was watching JK this morning. Bloke who'd failed lie detector was back on because he'd finlly admitted that yes he had cheated on his pregnant girlfriend (as the last lie detector proved) but with a man not a woman. All very strange.

Am eating salad - lettuce, tomto, red peppers, sweetcorn, cheese and lashings of salad cream. I can't bear it without the salad cream, do you think it is still healthy though??

ooooo cream eggsssssss

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 19/04/2010 13:04

Oooh, claudia, which one? I love Lee Child.

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 19/04/2010 13:05

mmm, chips and salad cream.

Alicetheinvisible · 19/04/2010 13:05

Defluff - breadmaker is fab. We buy one sliced loaf about once every 3 weeks to keep in the freezer and then use the breadmaker for the rest. I don't feel as bloated after our own bread as i do after shop bought, so definitely worth it.

Bitter - tea/coffee is needed today! Couldn't stand the thought of it when pg with DD, but this time the need is greater i think.

Have just made some cinnamon biscuits, they are not great and i feel a bit icky today anyway, so hopefully won't be too tempted to eat them all.

DreamsInBinary · 19/04/2010 13:07

Oh yeah, DF definitely still healthy

(all posts may now contain a )

Am trying very very hard to bleach the fabulous icing sugar idea from my mind.

ClaudiaSchiffer · 19/04/2010 13:09

oo oo Bitter it's his first, 'Killing Floor'. I kept hearing his name crop up in book reviews as in . . . "it's a fairly good book but NO LEE CHILD" so thought I'd give him a go and I'm HOOKED. Also am developing a fairly big crush on Jack Reacher . Have you read many? Are they all fab?

Slugbrains · 19/04/2010 13:14

Sorry

I have to confess that my coffee cake contained a whole box worth of coffee butter icing and that the cake was the excuse for the icing

I got paid to bake chocolate cake at uni.

I am suffering hormones today and attempting to cook boiled eggs. which some of you might remember i am not very good at when preoccupied.

Slugbrains · 19/04/2010 13:14

500g box .

wastingaway · 19/04/2010 13:15

Claudia, I love having my own space and time, so it's nice to have evenings, but I do miss him. I wish we had more fun when he was here though. The weekend wasn't especially relaxing as he was building up to this week. Hopefully things will be a little more relaxed after May 8th.

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 19/04/2010 13:15

Claudia, yes they are FAB! I will have a looky later and recommend some for you if you like?

Slug - cake sounds fabulous!

Slugbrains · 19/04/2010 13:17

it was. So have to earn it by training hard tonight.

ClaudiaSchiffer · 19/04/2010 13:19

Cheers girls

Up the hill to Bedfordshire now, night night x

Slugbrains · 19/04/2010 13:31

Night claudia.

I managed to cook boiled eggs without burning them .

DeFluff · 19/04/2010 13:40

Wasting - what's May 8th?

Slugs - thats a lot of icing sugar

[tiptoes off thread to sneak into kitchen to make some up to scoff]

Can anyone who knows anything about the Book People help me over in chat please. Everyone else knows nothing, apart from one very kind lady.

Also, any good book suggestions? I want to try something totally different. Normal fodder for me is Karen Slaughter, Mark Billingham, Stuart MacRae (?), type stuff also loads of Phillipa Gregory or other historical type bits, especially tudor related. Also read the Shardlake (think that was his name) novels, very good. So, recommendations of anything totally different appreciated, or recs of something v similar appreciated.

[appears to have gone into manic stage of pmt)

MitsubishiWarrioress · 19/04/2010 13:41

Night Claudia...

Lol at DeFluff's dating story...

I took DD out for lunch. Which was nice but soooooooo slow I have lost the will to live.

I was quite good. Jacket spud with a delish salad, followed by very appley apple pie and ice cream.

Must crack on before I fall asleep.....

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..bonk....xx
