Welcome all- old and new- this is our fifty-something Healthy Eating thread, where we chat, support each other's ascent into vibrant slinkiness full of bright eyes and glorious glowing skin etc etc...

Post as much as you can, and you'll be sure to catch the gossip and the gamut of human emotion that make up the Shiney threads. They have grown from one woman's noble quest to ditch curly-wurlies for breakfast into a veritable Mumsnet phenomenon, which has actually seen some of us lose rather a lot of weight and get much healthier...

Not me- I am still trying to get there, and have a permanent cold, but hey, let's not split hairs: there are other regulars who are a positive inspiration! So jump in and find us again, or join us anew, and follow whatever approach suits you.

Hi all, I have been for a meeting with DS's Dad to see the headmaster at DS's school. It went really well and I came away with the feeling that things had been resolved all round instead of that nagging feeling that won't leave you alone.

Doesn't sound like you and this guy are going to get anywhere I am sorry shiney. Whatever his preferences I am at his approach.

Will catch up when I have caught up so's to speak.......

YanknCock · 24/03/2010 12:28

VT, shiney's not-so-hot-anymore-date is reasonable looking (not an adonis though) with icky looking chest hair.

Agree with Trills (v good statement), give him a chance to stutter and apologise, if nothing else you have done a good deed for womankind.

I have a 'mum date' this afternoon. One of the ladies from my baby group is coming around. I am stupidly nervous, what if she thinks my house is a tip? What if she sees all the dishes piled up in the kitchen? Is the loo clean? OMG, I need to go get some biscuits or something don't I? I don't keep them in because we'd eat a whole packet in one go!

Alicetheinvisible · 24/03/2010 12:41

Yank - the visitor normally brings the cake and biscuits, you just provide the tea and sofa have fun.

Mitts - glad all is settled, what a big weight off your shoulders.

I am a bit shaky atm, think it was because i didn't have a mid morning snack, so have just had a huge crusty roll filled with cheese, smokey ham, lettuce, cherry toms on the side, a bag of c&o crisps and a bucket of tea. Just starting to feel normal.

DD is going to her first dancing class this afternoon, i am stupidly excited

Alicetheinvisible · 24/03/2010 12:45

OMG! Has anyone seen the thread with the petition to stop tesco selling lads mags? What a waste of fucking time! Seriously

dawntigga · 24/03/2010 12:46

Waves to all, I'm off to make my famous ham sandwich.

shiney you will find somebody. I had a list when single that had about 50 things on it. I then narrowed it down to:

Has own place
Has own transport
Is solvent
Is not a twunt
Can make me laugh

Which weeded out all the arse's I'd previously been dating and ended me up with a fabulous nice guy!

hellsbelles · 24/03/2010 12:52

morning all

at not so perfect man Shiney. I agree with all the wise words on here...but really no need for you to be feeling bad in any way. He messed up. We all make stupid (well I do) statements from time to time so it's possible he'll get himself out of this when you talk to him again (and if he can then it'll be very impressive!).

But DO NOT get upset - he has not seen you. He hasn't judged YOU he has just made a stupid sweeping statement. If he did see you he would take in the full lovelyness of what makes up you not just what size you happen to be right now. My DH used to prefer blondes...he doesn't any more.

Mitts - so glad the nightmare with DSs school has reached it's conclusion. Well done - the way you handled it all was amazing.

Right more work. (waves to everyone)

MitsubishiWarrioress · 24/03/2010 13:29

Thanks hells

Do you feel better Alice? And I hope you enjoy DD's dancing?

I want to turn my life around and I don't know where to start.... I am finally getting my emotions sorted, and depression seems to be heaps better, but the prospect of getting off benefits and into a decent, fulfilling, financially rewarding 'career' seems insurmountable and beyond me. I can't even get one step ahead at the moment. It is a bit dispiriting, I am 40 and I don't have a lot to offer skill wise. I barely have the energy and time to run the house, work, raise the DC's and get a bit of me time, let alone retrain to do something productive. It is making my brain ache from worrying and trying to work out what to do.

Not complaining or moaning, just trying to figure out what the hell to do.

Hi Sazz... sorry about the gain... that is out of pattern for you... but I am sure you will whip yourself back into shape.

I am OK, a little better, greatly boosted by over the counter meds I am afraid, but I am bad at giving in and listening to my body. Thanks for asking .

I need to get a plan for where I want to be in 6 months/ 1 years time. I could do with 2 of me I suppose...

Awww Norma, what's up lovey?.... That is not like you... (( ))

TrillianAstra · 24/03/2010 13:50

Had an email re the dress, it should be here tomorrow.

What's with the paddy Norma?

NormaSknockers · 24/03/2010 13:52

DH is driving me bonkers, if I so much as look at the laptop he starts pulling faces & suggesting housework, DD has come home from nursery tired & grumpy so is sat moaning & DS is following me round from room to room pulling at me & whining in a very high pitched voice. It is days like this I feel like running away

MitsubishiWarrioress · 24/03/2010 14:02

Barter Norma..''lets do x or y with the DC's, then I will get tea and sort the laundry, while you bath the children and tidy their rooms and then I'd like an hour with the computer and a cuppa''
bright smile, kiss, and stamp on his toes if he says no........

NormaSknockers · 24/03/2010 14:07

Usually I would but he's decorating so we can't go out. I've already made the beds, tidied the bedrooms, done the washing up, folded & put away one load of washing, washed & hung out another load, sorted out the hallway, put some stuff out for the charity collection, sorted through a pile of photos, cleaned all the bathrooms (3), cleaned the kitchen & am now making lunch!

BitOfFun · 24/03/2010 14:12

Hi all- just poking my head in until later. UPDATE on the parcel incident, if you're interested

iggi999 · 24/03/2010 14:12

Shiney - agree with tosser comments. Or he's just socially inept and can't read signals ("ooh, she must be up for sex talk on facebook" ffs bit presumptuous.
If he found it so easy to date women who are his ideal body type he wouldn't be on a dating site would he. I think you should request a similar photo from him first, post it on your profile and we can decide whether he meets his own standards.

iggi999 · 24/03/2010 14:14

Norma, do you want to do a "strangers on a train" type double murder with me?
My DP actually jumped over our bed this morning to get away from me when I was trying to talk to him about why he is being so unpleasant to me. Can't wait to go home tonight.

NormaSknockers · 24/03/2010 14:19

Oh iggi

bellavita · 24/03/2010 14:21

Phew BoF - all's well that ends well

getting ready to go to the dentist

Goober · 24/03/2010 14:33

I don't know. You lot. I go away for a bit of RL and it all kicks off.

Shiney: Step away from the perv.

BOF: I hope that is the end of it.

Norma: Go do the housework.

Iggi:

Tits: No message as no doubt she'll never read it, being out in her new car.

Everybody else: I love you.

Have just had a brown pitta with salad, grapes and a yogurt.
Tonight, more exercise for me.

MitsubishiWarrioress · 24/03/2010 14:41

Iggi I am so sorry, that must be disheartening especially right now....

Bella.. thinking of you, soon be over and NO more pain.

MitsubishiWarrioress · 24/03/2010 14:42

Oh, I love you tooooo Goober . How are you?

NormaSknockers · 24/03/2010 14:44

I've already done it Goober, I've done a whole list of jobs today already (see above) only things left that kind of needs doing is the ironing & I always do that once the Dc are in bed.

Hope dentist goes well Bella
