Welcome all- old and new- this is our fifty-something Healthy Eating thread, where we chat, support each other's ascent into vibrant slinkiness full of bright eyes and glorious glowing skin etc etc...

Post as much as you can, and you'll be sure to catch the gossip and the gamut of human emotion that make up the Shiney threads. They have grown from one woman's noble quest to ditch curly-wurlies for breakfast into a veritable Mumsnet phenomenon, which has actually seen some of us lose rather a lot of weight and get much healthier...

Not me- I am still trying to get there, and have a permanent cold, but hey, let's not split hairs: there are other regulars who are a positive inspiration! So jump in and find us again, or join us anew, and follow whatever approach suits you.

I try to eat when i am hungry, but i seem to always be bloody hungry! Decided to have cereal in the evenings instead of ice cream, as although about the same calories at least cereal has some good stuff in it. Bit of a thing for custard atm though....

TrillianAstra · 23/03/2010 18:20

I'm going ot be having a very yummy chinese dinner with work people, but not til late.

Alicetheinvisible · 23/03/2010 18:21

yum

NormaSknockers · 23/03/2010 18:22

Trills

Lizzylou · 23/03/2010 18:24

OOH Trills, lucky you

Is it just me, or is MN extremely strange atm? I keep going onto active convos and it is all very wierdy.

I think I shall stay in here, curled up in the foetal position

Alicetheinvisible · 23/03/2010 18:34

I agree Lizzy, a lot of strangeness

bellavita · 23/03/2010 18:37

Mmmm Lizzy, your dinner sounds delish.

I think you have really earned what you have eaten today Alice

Nice chinese sounds well errr nice Trills

Wasn't sure what to have tonight for tea (DH will get something on the way home from Liverpool), so I did sort of a Syc concoction of sauted mushrooms with melted philly cheese stirred into whole wheat pasta. Was actually quite nice, but I could eat more.

bellavita · 23/03/2010 18:39

So today I have eaten...

Scone and low fat spread

1 roast beef sandwich
pot of cherry toms

1 pear
1 banana
2 plums

1/2 pt skimmed milk

pasta, mushrooms and philly

3 chocolates

NormaSknockers · 23/03/2010 18:44

That pasta sounds yum Bella, I love Philly stirred into pasta especially with a bit of smoked salmon

Lizzylou · 23/03/2010 18:47

Bella, I would have loved one of your scones for breakfast, they looked delish

So today I have had:

Conference pear

Wholemeal Pitta with 3x extra light laughing cow, salad leaves (lots of)
1 x Carrot and Coriander low cal cup a soup

Dinner I have just described.

Have felt v full all day, so had to sort of force myself to eat, which is strange for me, but I didn't want to waste my gym night by passing out through hunger

Ooh, DH back now, off to burn some fat off, see you all later

YanknCock · 23/03/2010 18:53

Lizzy, yay for big bazumbas!

at band size 34. I am currently a 40F or a 44DD depending on who you ask. Never been smaller than a 36 band

shiney, the eczema sounds awful, poor Ted. I wish my boobs were still up on my chest, they are gradually sliding downward

VT, yay Mini!!!! If you feel shaky, you need to make sure all your meals and snacks contain some protein and 'good' fat (monounsaturated).

Mitts, I think if I lose loads of weight I'd consider an operation to get rid of loose skin/haul my boobs back up. We shall see....perhaps I have enough elasticity to shrink back. (a girl can hope)

I haven't completely caught up (only got to about 12:20 today), still two pages to go, but need to feed DS and go to pilates, so see you all later!!

NormaSknockers · 23/03/2010 18:56

Have fun Lizzy!

I opted for a bacon sarnie (WW bread) & a bag of Monster Munch

MyCatIsABastard · 23/03/2010 19:07

Evening all. Ailsa is being annoying tonight. To be fair, she is just being lively but I'm being annoyed and because I cannot have a mood on my own, DH is being annoyed too!

Shiney a good friend of mines DD has eczema like that. She is now 5 1/2 though and is starting to grow out of it. I hope the same happens for your DS.

DH now putting DD to bed and I am about to embark on a large glass of wine

DreamsInBinary · 23/03/2010 19:16

Oh, bacon sarnie

MitsubishiWarrioress · 23/03/2010 19:24

DC's been to dentists. My head is still full of mush.
At least you nipped in the bud shiney. I get the card thing, although more with texts with DS.

What's up on Active convos? I am not flavour of the month with the feminists but apart from that have not really been on the boards much.

A taxi driver had just ripped me off with my change. Not much, but I was dealing with DD (got a taxi as the bus sailed passed us). I'd left my washing out and it got rained on and the washer won't work cos the door won't shut. Piriton is helping Sazz thanks but I must confess I feel rather drab. And I think all my dignity after the split has deserted me because I got this irrational urge to shout at the DC's Dad. Not that it is all his fault but I was overwhelmed with the need to blame somebody for everything. I have loads of work, a dentists appointment, a doctors appointment, two out of house jobs, my counselling and the usual DC stuff to do between now and friday and it all feels like too much. buggerbumbastardshittywankingcraparseypox........

I is GRUMPY.

as you were ladies..... I need time out.

bellavita · 23/03/2010 19:25

Enjoy your fat burning Lizzy and I can confirm that the scone was lovely - yum.

BitOfFun · 23/03/2010 19:25

I am not having any tea now after The Most Recent Incident

hellsbelles · 23/03/2010 19:27

evening all....what a day it's been on here!

Shiney - Taya will not be doing that again! How fantastic that the teacher told you. I do remember that there has to be some sort of rebellion at that age - par for the course really so she's just doing what she should but how perfect for you (and awful for her) that it can be dealt with!

poor Ted! I didn't realise you were having to go through that with him....and Alice too. i hope the antibiotic eases DD.

BOF - can you try not to read it? It'll make you feel awful.

Lizzy - Yay for big boobs and small back! You have always described yourself as 'big build' but that must be wrong if you have a 34 back. From now on you must say 'with my small build'

Hello again Norma - lovely to have you back

Mitts- sorry you are suffering and having nightmares (gives a huge while shiney isn't looking)

Trills - has the dress arrived yet!? And very of the chinese!

Well - no news here other than I'm working my bollocks off at work. Totally knackered. But in a good way. I like being busy as long as it all bloody well pays off (we shall see!).

bellavita · 23/03/2010 19:27

Aww Mitts - would a brownie cheer you up? They are baking nicely in the oven, won't be long...

hellsbelles · 23/03/2010 19:28

gives mitt's a 'hug' not a 'huge'

hellsbelles · 23/03/2010 19:29

oh and so nice to hear mini yank is on the mend and bouncing again.

BitOfFun · 23/03/2010 19:32
