I'm so keen to stop. All advice and tips very gratefully received.

Ok, haven't read any of the posts above, but when I was quitting I found social smoking the hardest to quit. I went cold turkey and found that the best thing for me to do when out with friends who smoked was to get some sugar free lollipops and I would suck on those when they were smoking - it was all about the hand mouth thing for me rather than the actual nicotine. It really worked for me. Good luck with it all.

Only 24 hours ish left

I am bizarrely quite excited about stopping . I have been shopping today and bought some snacks that aren't full of lard in preparation . I have also done no housework at all and intend to keep it that way until after my last cigarette . I know I will be looking for things to do with all that free time .

You are all doing so well , I really hope that I can manage as well .

travellingwilbury · 09/02/2010 16:28

sugar free lollies sounds like a good plan . That could be a job for me tomorrow .

How long have you been stopped for now chickiolina ?

violetbloom · 09/02/2010 16:48

What could be better than that ?

Only joking , can you get a non smoking gfriend to come round and do healthy stuff together ? Cinema is always a good one , now you can't spoke in public then being out as much as possible could help .

And don't get too pissed , that is going to be my big test , when I have a few and I am with people who are still smoking .

Well done on the wine giving up . Do you not drink at all now then ?

You have got to spend all that money saved on something now haven't you ? A trip to the beautician sounds fab . Maybe book a massage as well , shouldn't all be painful this week

Well done you ! You must be really proud . Did you find that hard ?

Mine is getting fit . I am hoping to replace all this smoking stuff with getting out and about more . I need to replace it with something and as tempting the wine and choc will be I know that is probably not the best way forward .

violetbloom · 09/02/2010 17:41

I can't quite imagine giving up beer to be honest ... but I don't drink all that much.

Can't get that ladygarden comment out of my mind now ... Hoping you have short fingers ...

Off on tube walk now. Deep breaths ...

Good luck vb , you will do a grand job .

mrsruffallo · 09/02/2010 18:51

Okay, we've just had dinner and I am desperate for a ciggie. But as I have none in the house I just can't have one.
I am actually very proud, this is the first day in a long time where I haven't smoked.

It used to be my treat after I dropped the DC to school (don't smoke in front of them), but I didn't today as DH was with me and hates me to see me smoke.
I think tomorrow morning is going to be the hardest!

mrsruffallo · 09/02/2010 19:16

Craving isn't going HELP

ChickandDuck · 09/02/2010 19:20

Just read OP - but my advice is to eat, eat lots I'm trying to loose weight now though so I have taken up smoking again

travellingwilbury · 09/02/2010 19:30

mrs ruffallo , how you doing now ?

travellingwilbury · 09/02/2010 19:32

bad chickandduck

How long did you stop for ?

I am really hoping to get fit alongside the stopping the fags thing . I know it is a bit of a hurdle but I need to find something to do with all that smoking time and I really don't want to put on more weight .

mrsruffallo · 09/02/2010 19:39

Better, tw.
I think the children have taken my mind of it- they are being so incredibly sweet and have just finished tidying their room which was in a mess after friends visiting tonight. I will put them to bed in a minute.

However, the craving is still there, and my throat is feeling quite sore

mrsruffallo · 09/02/2010 19:41

How are you doing yourself travelling wilbury?
