So far so good thanks . I have got a friend coming round in a wee while and I am finding all that a bit odd at the min . It is what I did with a lot of my friends iyswim , so now I feel a bit twitchy when I first see them but it does seem to be ok after the first wee while .

Well done for getting out , it def helps . We have just been to my 6yr olds swimming lesson . Bit of a disaster , they had put him up a group and he really isn't ready so we have had a word and back down he is going . He is happy to as he felt completely unsure of himself in the new group . I could have cried for him , he came out half way through and just looked so sad , said he couldn't do it and just burst into tears when we got in the car

my dp has been quit for 3 mths now and just recently really struggled with the what to do part of things didnt want anything that contained nicotine to help as he had the champix tablets that helped him quit blocks need for the nicotine

i went on ebay and bought 2 packs of joke cigarettes and this has helped him hugley with the stress of needing something to do his not eating so much now he'll sit at computer with his fake cig and seems much happier

Hi all, you're all doing really well. And I do agree with Depeche, that you seem to be coping without grumble Travelling!

Yep, I haven't fallen off the wagon, not once actually. It's day 12 for me. It's a lot easier now, I could genuinely say now that the cravings are about 3 times a day but even then they're not like they were in the first few days, they're very mild in comparison.

And I'm enjoying things like arriving at work and not rushing to wash my hands / have a drink so I don't stink of fags etc. Plus dd is very pleased with me. She's 7 so has a reasonable idea what smoking means.

Just had a fantastic moment in which I saw someone smoking and the smell and sight really really turned my stomach! Yipppeee!!!

Well done violet , what a fab moment .

I do feel like I am not really struggling as much as I thought I would be . Honestly I have smoked 20 a day apart from pregnancy for over 20 years . I think I was just ready to do it this time and I actually wanted to stop rather than thinking I should if that makes sense .

Well done to your dp too bubbla , whatever helps him is a life saver .

Depeche and violet Day 12
Is it sinking in yet that you have actually been and gone and done it this time ?

violetbloom · 16/02/2010 15:23

No, not yet. I've been here before and still managed to fail! I'm keeping on my toes about it.

Something inside me says this has to be it though, I can't go back now. I'm just truly fed up with myself for every time I've tried and failed and every time I fail I wish I could get back to the point where I was succeeding and not fail. If you see what I mean?

As dd's got a bit older and knows what smoking means, my conscience couldn't allow me to continue. That's different this time. My bad habit exposed to my daughter.

But I gave up for almost 3 years once and started again. Then I gave up for a year when I was pregnant and first had dd. Started again. And I've quite a few times for a few months / weeks each time and still somehow managed to go back.

So, I don't think I'll ever feel 'this is it.' I think I'll have to keep on staying focused for a long time yet!

Has anyone else noticed, by the way, any symptoms like no cough? Or anything else?

I literally don't have a cough at all now which is quite a miracle as I always have a cough!

Didn't you mention taht you'd just started the ADs? Could be side effects of those? Or is there a list of side effects from the patches?

I've been feeling weird too though. I haven't slept properly at all since I quit, I'm having very vivid dreams and waking often. I've also been anxious and kind of edgy, sort of hyper but at the same time really deeply exhausted. I've also been a bit nauseous over weird things like when i saw that man smoking this morning, i thought the sight and smell was going to make me sick.

Maybe ...

I am as drunk as a skunk
But of fags I haven't stunk?

Depeche, some of what you're feeling may be withdrawal from smoking? How many were you smoking a day and for how long?

I've felt slightly nauseous since I quit and really just a bit all over teh place in lots of ways.

I do still have cravings though.

You guys never mention cravings - are you craving-free???
