Help misdee and Peter - NOW

Hi all,

I am sure loads of you have followed misdee's posts about her dh, Peter, who needs a heart transplant urgently.

His op tomorrow will buy him some time, but a heart transplant will be needed very soon.

So many people have posted with love and hugs, asking what they could do to help etc. and misdee has previously mentioned carrying donor cards or going on the Organ Donor Register , but I'm sure many of you, like me, feel utterly powerless to assist in any other useful way at all.

Well....

Now there is something you can do.

Harefield Hospital is about 60 miles away from misdee's house and as she is still learning to drive, her folks or her sister, sparklymieow, give her a lift several times a week. The petrol for the trip costs about £10 for the return journey. As you can imagine, doing this every other day soon adds up. If you can, will you sponsor a journey to Harefield ?

Whilst misdee is away from her kids, she also needs baby sitting services, which also add to the cost of each visit. Any sum at all can be used to cover a baby sitter to give misdee a break so she can spend some time with Peter. Could you donate whatever it costs you to hire a babysitter for an hour ?

Peter is facing a pretty major operation tomorrow, and I thought it might be nice to show support by offloading some of this financial burden from misdee, just so life is that little bit easier IYSWIM. She has enough to handle without getting into debt to fund visits to the hospital.

I have run this by MN HQ who have been really supportive of the idea. If more money than needed comes in, misdee can donate it to the Heart Unit at Harefield Hospital, which is under threat of closure.

One of Peter's inspirations in this terrifying journey is a guy called John Fisher. He had his transplant on the 30th July 2000. You can read more at his site here . Accordingly, MN HQ will collect cheques made payable to S Williams until 30th July 2005:

Mumsnet misdee
PO Box 657
Ipswich
IP1 9AE

You can also make a contribution by paypal directly to misdee's paypal address which is djmisdee @ hotmail.nospam.com

(remove the spaces and the .nospam).

misdee, I hope you will allow everyone on MN who cares for you to help you out a little and we hope Peter's heart comes soon.

Please be generous lovely MNers, all of it will help.

Feel free to bump until 30th July !

Hub mentioned in his first post to keep bumping the thread until the 30th, so I assume these payment arrangements are fine until at least then.

marjoriedawessassy · 06/07/2005 09:49

This was a brilliant idea hub2dee and shows mumsnet at its very best.

handlemecarefully · 06/07/2005 10:18

Since you're on at the moment Misdee

GOOD LUCK FOR TODAY

Angeliz · 06/07/2005 10:18

LORD I AM THICK.
Where it says shipping address, is that for my card?

almostanangel · 06/07/2005 10:22

[[[[[[[[[[hugs]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]misdee

Kayleigh · 06/07/2005 10:24

Angeliz, the shipping address is for if you were actually buying something, for where you would want the person to ship to - so your home address. In this case as you are just sending money you can tick the no address needed box.

vickiyumyum · 06/07/2005 10:24

sending a cheque to mn hq as my paypal account is in a negative balance at the moment, due to bank error! aaagghh!
but small problems compared to misdee and family. good luck for today and hope all goes well and peter makes a speedy recovery.

hub2dee · 06/07/2005 10:26

tee hee misdee.

I'm trouble, me.

I hope the cash helps ease the worry about visiting him, looking after the kids etc. etc.

People can continue to paypal cash to misdee until she is an old woman with 8 children if they really want !!! LOL. But it is easiest for MN HQ if any cheques get sent to their PO Box by 30th July as they can then gather all the checks and forward them to misdee in one hit IYSWIM. By setting an end date, it also means this won't stay in active convos for too long - 3 weeks or so - and it allows people who might only come into some cash later in the month or at the end of the month to give anything they feel able to.

So glad there was a smile on your face this AM misdee, and LOL at you nearly fainting !!!!!!

HMC - re those strapped for cash - hope Misdee will have her magnifying glasses out next week to see my donation

Expecting money in my account next week (now if you'd posted this 2 days ago Hub2Dee I could have done it straight away as I hadn't requested the money from my paypal account to go to my bank account LOL).

FIMAC1 · 06/07/2005 10:44

Angeliz

You should get a confirmation email with the email address of has received the paypal transfer - you could ask them to send it back to you and then resend it?

Twiglett · 06/07/2005 10:46
