Help misdee and Peter - NOW

Hi all,

I am sure loads of you have followed misdee's posts about her dh, Peter, who needs a heart transplant urgently.

His op tomorrow will buy him some time, but a heart transplant will be needed very soon.

So many people have posted with love and hugs, asking what they could do to help etc. and misdee has previously mentioned carrying donor cards or going on the Organ Donor Register , but I'm sure many of you, like me, feel utterly powerless to assist in any other useful way at all.

Well....

Now there is something you can do.

Harefield Hospital is about 60 miles away from misdee's house and as she is still learning to drive, her folks or her sister, sparklymieow, give her a lift several times a week. The petrol for the trip costs about £10 for the return journey. As you can imagine, doing this every other day soon adds up. If you can, will you sponsor a journey to Harefield ?

Whilst misdee is away from her kids, she also needs baby sitting services, which also add to the cost of each visit. Any sum at all can be used to cover a baby sitter to give misdee a break so she can spend some time with Peter. Could you donate whatever it costs you to hire a babysitter for an hour ?

Peter is facing a pretty major operation tomorrow, and I thought it might be nice to show support by offloading some of this financial burden from misdee, just so life is that little bit easier IYSWIM. She has enough to handle without getting into debt to fund visits to the hospital.

I have run this by MN HQ who have been really supportive of the idea. If more money than needed comes in, misdee can donate it to the Heart Unit at Harefield Hospital, which is under threat of closure.

One of Peter's inspirations in this terrifying journey is a guy called John Fisher. He had his transplant on the 30th July 2000. You can read more at his site here . Accordingly, MN HQ will collect cheques made payable to S Williams until 30th July 2005:

Mumsnet misdee
PO Box 657
Ipswich
IP1 9AE

You can also make a contribution by paypal directly to misdee's paypal address which is djmisdee @ hotmail.nospam.com

(remove the spaces and the .nospam).

misdee, I hope you will allow everyone on MN who cares for you to help you out a little and we hope Peter's heart comes soon.

Please be generous lovely MNers, all of it will help.

Feel free to bump until 30th July !

well thats it.

thank you all very very much. there has been over £800 paid into my paypal account, which has helped fill up my car several times this month, fill up my MIL car and my dads as well. It has also paid for food whilst at the hospital, some things for peter (have ordered him some books) and also for my short break there next week. it has made the last month so much easier and will continue to do so, as i have managed to put a bit of money aside this month so will be able to visit more often next month. i also have about £300 left in paypal to transfer over next month as i am not verified yet so can only transfer £500 a month atm. which is plenty.

Anyway i am waffling on and on and on.

Thank you all so much for helping out my family like this. its has been an emotional month which has been fraught with highs and lows, and i couldnt have donw without all of you. Thank you.

xx

I never even saw this! Must have been when I was offline due to my hard disk blowing up.

What a sweet man Hub2dee is! As is everyone who donated! It quite restores your faith in human nature.. I have known a site quite like MN.. the lovely spirit of the place far outweights the occasional negative stuff..

((((hugs)))) as always to Misdee and family.. I think of you a lot!

How old are Misdee's kid's? Perhaps we could post packages as well as cash? I am sending Misdee my love and thoughts and prayers for Peter. I would also like to put together a "surprise" package for the children. Help needed on ages?

ScoobyDooooo · 11/07/2006 20:05

jollymum this is an old thread from 05 but misdee & peter are still in the same position as far as i know....
