Am sick of my messages never getting through - I have had 7 attempts to reply to Cakes' last post- am starting a new thread ....
this is what I wrote anyway.....

righto, this i my 7th attempt to reply on this thread - everything keeps disappearing !
My assessment is on 25th,and am told to allow two hours for it,crikey !!
Saw a lady in town yesterday who was having rads and finished at about the same time as me and she's just seen the onc. for her follow up - they are running very behind I know- so I emailed to ask about mine - I tie myself in knots in trying to be assertive yet not too needy or a nuisance - I suppose I just like to feel that everything is done in order. Am not worrying about my health -am sure breast is fine and dandy, it's more my emotional state which troubles me.
Anyway, they have made me an appointment but it's at the same time as my assessment so have emailed back and left a phone message...arghh !
Special thoughts for RWU today and of course KurriKurri - hope all ok..and of course you Cakes and Morph.

MAS, I've replied to Teatotal, but suspect as usual s/he is not really interested in discussion.

Is it reportable? Think s/he was flogging something last time. As is the scarily peculiar Dr Day she links to. Last time I reported a loon someone I disagreed with, MNHQ told me to sort it out by debating.

Having spent 3 hours today in the chemo unit because there was a delay preparing my Herc., I'm not in a reasonable-discussion kind of mood!

reallywoundup · 07/01/2010 20:23

last time i reported her i got basically a "fuck it couldn't give a toss" email from mnhq! will be back in a bit- tad stressed after a 'smashing time' have to go and deal with my kitchen- all will be revealed!

reallywoundup · 08/01/2010 00:10

cut and pasted from the email i sent earlier

"Just had a 'smashing' time! literally!! friend came over with her two dd's for tea, so 4ds's and 2dd's sitting round my kitchen table along with millie, back door locked with keys removed to stop escapee children, kitchen door shut and me and mate wrapping her dd's pressies in the next room whilst kids have tea (oldest 10, youngest millie) everything fine, hear knocking and shouts of "mummy i can't open the door", i ran in and tried door- handle moving but not budging can't open the back door as the side gate is locked from the inside (we live in _!!!) therefore 7 children trapped in a kitchen with no way of getting into them or getting them out! told eldest to get everyone in the farthest corner (including getting millie out of the highchair!) and had to bash the door in- took two of us! Now have no kitchen door or door frame- bugger! fair play we sat the kids down in the living room, gave them a hot choc and a cake and they were fine- its us that is more emotionally scarred! Boys are fine and they've all gone to bed now and we are sharing a bottle of wine to calm our nerves!

Phew!!! i wouldn't mind but all our doors are fire doors and are designed to shut automatically unless we prop them open- therefore we didn't 'shut the kids in the kitchen' the blardy door did it itself!"

reallywoundup · 08/01/2010 00:11

WHY ME???? >

MaryAnnSingleton · 08/01/2010 07:39

RWU - wow ! well done though for getting through the door - how scary for all of you ! Hope you're feeling a bit calmer today xx

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 08/01/2010 11:58

RWU, hope you are all OK. Very impressed with your door bashing down ability. The children will be telling Daddy, 'Mummy broke the house while you were away'

sandripples · 08/01/2010 12:39

Blimey - what an exciting life you lead RWU. Has it always been as adventure filled as recently? Have to confess we deliberately didn't fit the auto closing door thingies as thought they wd drive me mad.

I now have new date for op 19 Jan to be confirmed. So that's a bit of progress.

However central heating jammed in the night due to a frozen pipe (stupid design even with lagging this happens in extreme cold such as -13 as last night.

Also no water in the house due other frozen pipe, again despite lagging!

CH heating now working due to my valiant efforts with hairdryer as soon as it was light. Other pipes taking longer and DH is bravely trying to warm up a sort of bunker we have outside, with a fan heater!! Critical pipe is in there - not pleasant as you can't stand up...

KurriKurri · 08/01/2010 13:13

I'm pleased they've given you a new date SR, makes it a bit easier to organize things and plan what you're doing.

Sorry to hear about your CH, hope your DH manages to get it going (without getting stuck in a right angle position!)

MaryAnnSingleton · 08/01/2010 17:18

That's good news about the date sandripples, but about central heating - hope dh can sort the pipes - keep warm xx

OP posts:
reallywoundup · 09/01/2010 16:44

Good to hear you have a provisional date SR- its something to work towards now.

Kurri- how is the chest now? Hope it's sorted

My scar/wound is leaking goo (not much but noticable on the dressing when i changed it earlier, smelt a bit funky too!)- i'm guessing that isn't ideal nurse is phoning me in a bit to arrange to see me asap, or getting the doc out. Not at all sore or anything though so a bit .

how's the heating now sandripples? mine is working fine but i'm still freezing so i feel for you if you are having probs! temp has been in the same sort of area up here- no thawing of the compacted ice yet, i tackled it with a box of dishwasher salt this morning- at least the the path leading to the house is now clear and hopefully won't turn into a sheet of ice again!

The kids have recovered well from the smashing experience and i've got a new treat which i was a big sneaky about our table and chairs in the kitchen is a bit dodgy- constantly screwing the chairs back together and taking our life in our hands when we sit down sort of thing! so when telling dh about the door it suddenly struck me that this was a golden opportunity "yes the kids are fine- yes the doorframe will need to be repaired, oh and the door fell onto two of the chairs and smashed them to smitherines what do you think i should do because we don't have enough chairs now?" Suprisingly the answer was "well we might as well buy a whole new set then hadn't we- can you sort that out while i'm here?" so i went and bought the lovely old farmhouse style set i'd seen and it was delivered this morning by two fantastic strong chaps (hence the need to de-ice the path!) i have been extending it, then shrinking it, then trying all the different ways of putting the chairs round it, testing which fruit-bowl looks best. I am sooo easily entertained lol!

KurriKurri · 09/01/2010 17:46

Hi all. Feeling a lot better today, think this lot of AB's is working at last. My x-rays were fine, no pneumonia or anything awful, just bronchitis.

Hope the nurse manages to sort out your wound RWU, I had the stinky goo thing(medical term) with my mastectomy wound, so sympathise, do you think its a flair up of the infection you had last week?

Your table/chairs sounds lovely, very good of you to sort it all out, so DH doesn't have to worry about it .

We've just been out to buy DH some slippers (exciting!). He's having an op. to have a stone removed from his salivary duct next week. They've had a couple of goes at doing it under local, but failed, so he's having a GA. Think he's rather nervous as he's never had one before, and for some reason he was flapping about the suitability of his slippers. So we got some new ones and he's calmed down.

Hope everyone is OK, having a relaxing weekend and not having too bad a time with the snow.

reallywoundup · 09/01/2010 18:28

at kk's dh being happy and calm because of his new slippers!

wound infected- not sure why how or anything else but nurse has snipped a stitch and put some weird jelly thing in the dressing and will see if it has dealt with it at all in the morning (still on AB's so don't need any more of them lol!)- if not will need to trudge up to the hosp to see the out of hours service doc [yey]

kids have made a mess on my table going to clean and polish it now! peace soon, kids nearly going to bed!! ahhh

sandripples · 09/01/2010 23:05

Sorry to hear about the infected wound RWU. But congrats on your new table etc!

Glad to see KK is feeling better today.

Our pipes were unfrozen by builder and DH by mid-afternoon - big relief after 36 hours so we all 3 (not the builder, but DS, DH and I!) had showers. Afterwards I went to sleep for 2 hours out of relief! Hence awake now, but feeling OK. Have put dishwasher on and also washing machine to try keep water moving in the new, and newly double lagged pipes.

It does feel like a very long wait for my lumpectomy now, another 9 days still. Wish it coule be sooner but on other hand weather forecast still so cold that it might be cancelled again if it were next week. A friend is coming to stay for a few days from MOnday to keep me company- this was planned to be post-op but she's coming anyway and will return post op!

My DS feeling a bit odd after this week off school - says its a bit wierd now! He'll go in for GCSEs on a couple of days soon at least. Take care everyone.

Am so glad to hear about defrosted pipes sandripples - that must've been such a pain - something I dread...we've kept the heating on low over the past few nights and I put the oven on to warm the kitchen in the mornings.
RWU - new furniture sounds great ! sorry to hear about infection though- hope it clears asap.
Glad to hear that KK is feeling better - hope all goes well for dh and his new slippers- when I was going in for my op I bought myself a bottle of Dior Sweet Sun which is very summery and smells of beaches and sunshine -I think buying something that'll make you feel good is a comfort -at least I would smell nice !!
The waiting is horrible sandripples but am glad your friend is coming back after.

Hi all!

Am back off holiday at last - you have all been busy - and not all of it in a good way!

So sorry about the delays for sandripples and the various shitty infections for KK and RWU - and well done to MAS's lovely boy!

Fizzy lemonade, RWU is right I did shave my hair off too. it is a good idea, much less upsetting that way, Glad the wig is looking good, that'll help.

I'll catch up more later.

RWU - an i right that you were sending me something? It is very, very good of you, but thought you should know it has not arrived. We have had people looking after the house while we were away, but they have reported nothing. (They have accidentally broken our front door but - hey ho, it looks like you are having a similar experience.) Just thought I'd let you know in case there was cost involved. Thank you so much for the thought, though!!

Love to all! xx

KurriKurri · 10/01/2010 17:22

Welcome back Cakes, hope you had a lovely holiday.

How's the wound today RWU? hope you didn't have to trudge along to the out of hours doc in the end, and things are healing.

I'm glad you have a friend coming to stay SR, keeping your mind occupied is the way to go, waiting is hard isn't it? thinking of you.

MAS I like the sound of Dior Sweet Sun, must investigate. I think its my duty to smell nice, for when DH has his op.

Our internet server has been down most of the day. So I've actually had to get on with a bit of housework

Cakesandale · 10/01/2010 17:26

Ooh dear, housework. Yuk.

my house looks like a bomb has hit it - there's dirty fleecy warm clothes everywhere (we rented a house by the sea in Norfolk), and no way of getting them dry if I washed them. Ick.

Holiday was lovely and restful. We took dd out of school for a week - bad parents that we are. Hope your infection is clearing up KK.

KurriKurri · 10/01/2010 17:40

Ooh Cakes I live in Norfolk, its beautiful on the coast.

(am feeling much better thanks)

Cakesandale · 10/01/2010 17:56

We were in Wells next The Sea. There's a cottage there we have had a few times. Bliss. And we had some lovely meals too, which made it even nicer.

Far too cold to get onto the beach much (DD lasted about 10 minutes each time) but we did other stuff. And we went to the SeaLife Centre in Hunstanton - there were only six visitors in, so the staff let us feed everything and took us round the behind the scenes areas as well: it was fab. DD has sent them a thank you note.

KurriKurri · 10/01/2010 18:05

Wells is lovely, DS quite often works at the little theatre there. I have a photo of DS at the sea life centre in Hunstanton when he was about 8yrs, holding a boa constrictor! (not sure why it was at a sea life centre).
Glad your DD had fun, the staff will love her note

sandripples · 10/01/2010 18:10

The Norfolk break sounds lovely. So does that Dior perfum - I will also check it out!

Have had a v domestic day - most unlike me! Have does a big clear up and clean up as everything was so messy after builder and DH's work on pipes. Visitors popped in this pm which was nice and gave me a break from hoovering. I do think everyone is being v neighbourly and friendly with this weather - people are not venturing far so are seeing local people more and chatting - good effect of the snow.

Even DS has tidied his room. A rare occurence. Looks so nice.

Cakesandale · 11/01/2010 09:28

Definitely agree - people seem more neighbourly. We have good neighbours here anyway, but the community spirit is definitely to the fore.

I am envious of your clean house sandripples, mine is absolute chaos. Don't do too much, though. One good thing about my treatment time was the amount of time I felt justified in devoting to reading nice books and listening to music. Take the opportunity to be really nurturing for yourself. And on that note, I refer you back to the Dior perfume! Call it aromatherapy!!

Hope RWU's infection is getting better.

sandripples · 11/01/2010 11:03

Thanks Cakes - don't worry our house always looks fairly chaotic even after I've had a big session of cleaning up! Old house with not a huge lot of storage and we are rather a messy family and have various hobbies which seem to produce a lot of stuff.

I feel rather on egde due to waiting for the op so have spare energy I think. Am doing stretching exercises which help, but miss being able to get to a swimming pool for weekly or bi-weekly swim. Am relieved snow seems to be receding today.

I will check out the perfume.
