DreamsInBinary · 20/10/2009 20:29

Sorry to hear you are having a rough time of it, BoF. Who'd have thought that the angel in your profile pic could cause so much distress

DreamsInBinary · 20/10/2009 20:31

I have bitten the bullet and gone back onto Atkins. My breath smells; I am fucking starving and I feel dizzy but I am sure to be losing vital organs weight

Lizzylou · 20/10/2009 20:56

DIB, does atkins always work for you?
I could eat cheese and steak all day, but last time I tried it I didn't lose anything.

Hows DD, BOF?

TMW, you have been a crazeee badger tonight, am loving that phrase, we normally say box of frogs, but badgers are far cooler.

SqueezyCheesyPumpkin · 20/10/2009 21:12

Custy has lost LOADS of weight on Atkins, if you see her around ask her, she knows loads about it.

NormaSknockers · 20/10/2009 21:21

Evening all,

Sorry I disappeared, DD had swimming then DH treated us to Pizza Hut where I definately didn't stuff myself or help DD with her ice-cream factory dessert a salad

Personally I don't believe that Atkins is healthy or indeed safe, but I haven't researched it that much (because I couldn't live without pasta and potatoes).

Gnocchi for dinner - the recipe is not very diet-y but I didn't eat much all day. Do you want to know the recipe anyway?

DevilsEnticeMadness · 20/10/2009 21:36

BoF - has dd calmed down now and are you ok. I used to find the best advice was to find a quiet corner and cry if i needed a relase of emotion after meltdowns like that. its horrid. I hope you can unpick what the problem was. Have they had a supply teacher at school. that still throws ds, although life with that devil child seems to be less often now he has started school. I wish i had wise words for you after you wise words when i have needed it but i have none.

Trill: do you remember the lady who died from the soup diet because she wasnt eating any carbohydrates and it lead to organ failure. Atkins can result in a similar situation as the body cant process fat and protein in the same way as carbohydrates and the body will start breaking down muscles and there is a build up of toxic by products which can lead to organ failure. short sharpe bursts can be ok but not advisable as it doesnt take long for ketoacidosis to kick in and from there is can be rapid descent into problems depending on the individual.

DIB are you feeling better then the other night?

DevilsEnticeMadness · 20/10/2009 21:41

parents evening was lovely. it is so nice to hear about the angel child after dealing with the devil child of the last 4 1/2years. Ds is loving school and it on the whole suits him. Although he apparently nearly mad his teacher cry because he told her he was rubbish at reading. He is top of the class. So they have given him easier books to help build his confidence. And are hoping when they start the small group work he will start to build his confidence up when he realises how good he is compared to his fellow class mate. It is so nice to have positive things being said for a chance. Am proud of the boy. He has been trying really hard since the devil child day on sunday. So happy about the return to sleep meds. So it Ds.

NormaSknockers · 20/10/2009 21:41

Trills I couldn't live without carbs - I just couldn't do it! My auntie tried the Atkins (along with several other diets) for years, she finally found something that worked for her.....Divorce Can't say I'd go that far to loose weight

I should go to bed soon too, have to get up early and do lots of work tomorrow before the meeting. Grr.

DreamsInBinary · 20/10/2009 23:04

Night all

Atkins works well for me because I tend to binge on carbs. I stick to lots of fresh meat and veg with no starchy or refined foods and the two times I have been on before my weight, skin and hair improved dramatically.

Tis a sad fact that whilst I adore carbs, they don't feel the same way about me

DreamsInBinary · 20/10/2009 23:05

at Einstein's fabulous reports

DreamsInBinary · 20/10/2009 23:09

Feeling much better thanks DEM.

It was decidedly odd - I had a swollen, tender tummy, swollen boobs and felt vv nauseous. I was terrified that I might be pg, but a test last week (and AF yesterday) proved otherwise. I've barely had a proper period since getting pg with dd (over two years ago) so had forgotten the symptoms

DreamsInBinary · 20/10/2009 23:24

I have been trying to create a wedding album on photobox for the past three days and have completed less than a quarter of the day . It is hard.

Every now and again I do rather wish I was even a tiny bit artistic.

SqueezyCheesyPumpkin · 20/10/2009 23:46

G'night ladies

NormaSknockers · 21/10/2009 07:27

Morning all!

Got to get DD ready for nursery then driving lesson straight after, really can't be arsed today!

Haven't dare weigh in yet, will weigh in shortly when I've plucked up the courage!

DIB it's great when you find something that works for you, I thought about Atkins but I know after 2 days I'll be screaming for carbs

DEM, well done your boy! That is lovely that he is doing so well.

DIB, see this is my fatal flaw. I think atkins and I automatically think "Cheese and steak", perhaps I should low carb it and do lean meat and green vegetables, far healthier.
Can you still have wine?

Would love that gnocchi recipe Trills (for before I start low carbing it, obv ), love gnocchi.

Hope everyone is well, DS1 has woken up all refreshed and full of beans. He slept from 5pm last night to 6.30am and seems fine. He desperately wants to go to school, so am going to send him.
