Looking for a circumcision doctor

Jaqchic · 20/01/2005 13:13

Can anyone recommend a private doctor in the London area who has performed a (male) circumsion for them? I don't want to get into a debate about the whys and wherefores of circumcision, but I am trying to find a reliable and reputable doctor with experience in this area. I don't care if they are a mohel or muslim practioner or non religious but I am looking for a doctor who will perform this in a proper surgical setting, not someone to come and do it in my home.

Thanks.

It'd be a dull if you did that, secur. And I'd have to do some work.

i think i am probably the one that lockets is talking about.
I haven't disappeared... just had other stuff to do! and I did say on the other thread that I wouldn't be posting on there any more because it made me angry and i would end up saying stupid things.

The only point I wanted to make here was that it IS a bit out of order to judge jaqchic when we don't know WHY she wants this information.

we all have to try and show a bit of tolerance, that's all.

I dunno, maybe I am being hormonal and irritable today, but it just upsets me a bit when I see these heated debates and people ARE being hurt by things others are saying simply because some people aren't very tactful

Just wanted to add as well...

I know that no-one has said "you" to jaq, or made an "attack" on her per se... but some of the comments have implied that she is bad to want information on circumcision drs.

I DO agree that there has been a lot of info and advice thrown up as well... i for one know a lot more about it than I did before (is that good or bad???)

I don't wanna start an argument with anyone here, or get a reputation for being someone who "chastises then leaves"... i just know when to leaev a matter before I say something I'll regret!

morningpaper · 21/01/2005 16:37

TBH starlover I think that if people are 'being hurt' by things then they should say so and I'm sure that people will back off. I don't see that on either of the threads you are referring to? IMO it's just a bit of debate to liven up our otherwise very boring lives...

starlover · 21/01/2005 16:37

I didn't give permission to continue the discussion.. i said that I would be leaving and that you were all free to carry on talking about me and saying i was wrong once I was no longer active on the thread!

Soraya1 · 21/01/2005 16:39

I'm sorry to have started a thread that has turned into a huge ... whatever you want to call it. I was honestly just looking for information. FYI my husband and I are leaning towards circumcision for various personal reasons but no final decision has been made - one of the reasons I want to find a reputable doctor who will discuss this sensibly with us. We are not ogres and thank you, having worked for the last few years with refugee women from all over Africa I do know all about FGM. Thank you everyone for your responses.

starlover · 21/01/2005 16:39

Look I'll go and post something about myself in the Intros section which will hopefully allay your fears that I am some kind of trouble maker but after all the rudeness I doubt I'll be participating in this forum very much at all. Cheers everyone. And no I won't let the door hit my ass on the way out!

True but I don't think I should have to leave a personal attack undefended. My husband and I have our reasons for wanting this procedure carried out, they are personal to us and I do not intend to disclose them here. I made a simple request for information - some people have responded in the spirit of that but it seems others cannot resist making assumptions and throwing stones.

those are both quotes from jaqchic... so she did feel as though it was an "attack", even if it wasn't meant that way.

starlover · 21/01/2005 16:41

I am not against debate... i do however feel that sometimes we need to have a bit more tact.. maybe I am included in that? because it IS a controversial subject...

and why is my opinion on this any less valid than anyone elses? why do you feel the need to have a go at me just because I think that a couple of threads have got out of hand?

you'd think so wouldn't you.
it was actually said tongue-in-cheek... which then goes back to the other thread about intonation!

i feel really sad now

i know she did.
I didn't mean to sound like I was telling anyone off...

urgh, i can't even write what I wanna say.. it's in my head but I can't make it make any sense when I try and type it

ok, agree to disagree...
i have always been one to get upset over perceived "injustices".. used to get me into trouble at school...

i just sometimes think that people could put their views forward slightly more tactfully, considering (as you say) that we are all adults... and respect other people's views, even if we don't agree with them.

the comment one person made saying "shame on you".. WAS a personal attack, and was really unnecessary.
I know that jaqchic doesn't need me sticking up for her, far from it... but it was in my head and it wanted to come out SO I HAD TO SAY IT!!!!!!

starlover · 21/01/2005 16:58

btw... is post preg brain better or worse than pregnant brain?????

i used to work for a lady who had 6 kids and she was completely demented.

do you still live in the area?
