For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Oh that's completely reasonable.

If he doesn't like swimming, could he do a duathlon instead (usually run, bike, run). Or does he require an extra challenge?

FrannyandZooey · 23/05/2008 18:40

I don't know
can I make him do that one where he has to run through a freezing river with his bike over his head?

That sounds exciting Alarka.

Ds2 slightly happier but don't know if there is more sick to come. Today has had its dramatic moments.

Franny, the time I worry with 4dcs is with a bug like this - can the others escape it? Can I escape it? How soon will I know? How much clean bedding can I have on standby? And towels and old nappies which are INVALUABLE.
There are times when we keep passing colds around too but on the whole not too much illness trauma

Ds2 is now requesting tomato soup. Is it wise?

OsmosisBanana · 23/05/2008 19:49

I bloody hate B&Q. I'm going to torch the one near us soon.

Have done quite well on the F&V, not spectacular though. Tis beer night after all.

Prob 7.

TooT - hope the bug spares you. Sympathy avi. FMF, how is the eye?

Franny, I was just about to burst out with 'oh dh is after a new bike too ', when I remembered we have rather other issues atm today was dreadful, I am incredibly hurt I rang a friend to ask if the boys and I could go there for a while if necessary, but she wasn't in. That moment has passed but I am floundering.

We stood on in our flourishing balcony 'vegetable and herb garden' just now and it was all blooming, broad bean flowers and everything, and we should have just been pleased and happy and relaxing into the weekend

I think I will keep my marriage off here. Nowt anyone can do.

Bero...

AIBU to be rather pissed off at old friend who has invited herself, child and dog round to stay tomorrow night, depsite the fact that we told her we were going to the boat...she would NOT take no for an answer!
I felt sucked into backtracking because she is ddriving for 5 hours, albeit not solely to see us. Pah! The boys will be ecstactic to see her child again and I do love her as a friend but she has a history of doing this sort of thing tome.
She is the type of person who will turn up and say - as dinner is being served - ''oh, of course I'm on a dairy-free diet these days you know. No, no, don't go to any trouble, a simple bowl of home-made soup will suffice..oh no, I can't eat That bread...''

Sticker for Slur

FMF I'm having tea with ILs on Monday, dinner out with DH on Tues and going to see my sis on Thurs but I was supposed to be going out with friends on Wed and now we're not so I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself [daft]

I've decided to make my own sodding laminated currant buns and hijack the singing session at toddlers Everyone will be able to have a go and it will be fair! (Except for the poor child I don't notice and the mum will be cursing 'that awful lady with the currant buns at toddlers'!!)

I have planted more veg today - in fact I must go out and water it. My tomatoes are doing well but not ready to outside full time yet.

I have walked for about 10 mins today and eaten..... dried apricots, orange juice, mango, pineapple (2 portions), melon, peas, carrots, broccoli, swede, spring cabbage, satsuma. YES I DID 10 PORTIONS First time in ages!

Avi, glad you're feeling better. Sorry to hear that the family TooT now has the lurgy.

Bero if it helps to get things off your chest then we're here to listen and if there is anything we can do then you know where we are. But if you don't want to talk then you don't have to. (I wanted to do a hug or something but I don't know if you're one for (((((((hugs))))))!)

pinkspottywellies · 23/05/2008 20:33

Oh no FMF she sounds like an arse!

TooTicky · 23/05/2008 20:48

Bero, do keep talking to us if it helps. Wish there was something we could do.

Fmf, could you not just say, "BUT WE WILL NOT BE HERE!!" ? She sounds v. inconsiderate.

Ds2 has eaten bread and is now eating strawberries. He seems much better - am crossing fingers for a non-explosive night.

TooTicky · 23/05/2008 20:49

Pink, we will have to compare tomatoes when they appear

pinkspottywellies · 23/05/2008 21:07

Yes! I have 3 tomato plants from my MIL (proper tall ones) but not sure how these containers ones will turn out. I started them in loo rolls on the window sill and I've put them into bigger pots today. They've been holidaying outside today but I'll bring them in at night for a bit longer I think.

One of my broad bean plants turned completely black, but the others are okay. Everything else looking well

Would you mind popping over to my Mars thread ? I am trying to raise awareness.

pinkspottywellies · 23/05/2008 21:16

Oh but Avi aren't potatoes stright from the ground heavenly! Cooked of course. You forget what potatoes actually taste like!
