For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Wow, and Franny never likes name changes so this must be a very good one.

berolina · 19/05/2008 21:06

for me ironing would be exercise, as very much not part of daily routine.

Thank you everyone for kindness in response to my petulant outburst on other thread.

OK I'm in

just read the link

So today I had

loads of apple puree (from last seasons harvest ) on grapenuts

1 banana

Grapes, quite a lot (how many grapes = a portion?)

Dinner had, carrots, asparagus, sweetcorn, mushrooms, tomatoes in. Maybe 2 portions in all

So that is 5 (probably). Room for improvement then.

sorry, was spontaneous and influenced by slightly revolting image of a pie with a pastry M on the top. The venison one had a V. Genius.

Um,

Franny, you are fighting fit
low blood pressured and spiff
your arms are long your legs
are thin unlike your moon

midriff but don't be glum the time
will come to snap back in a jif

FrannyandZooey · 19/05/2008 21:09

usually a handful of fruit is a portion (see nifty chart in OP though)
cooked type veg tends to be a few tbsp, salad is a bowl full

half way there!

hi bero

glad your weekend past by nicely

FrannyandZooey · 19/05/2008 21:12

I had chunky monkey ice cream
it is a nice flavour (except for the nuts) but the pieces of chocolate look like slugs even if it says they are banana shaped

OP posts:
MrsCarrot · 19/05/2008 21:12

lol, no goats, no, despite my daily snort of essence of billy goat plum

Tatterdemalion · 19/05/2008 21:13

ooh I am printing off the nifty chart as we speak. Will clear away all the dds artwork off the fridge to give new fruit charts pride of place.

FrannyandZooey · 19/05/2008 21:13

have you noticed any effects from that MrsC
eg desire to rut, hair on the chin etc?
