For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I must try growing potatoes one day.

FrayedKnot · 23/05/2008 21:29

Evening all, have been to the gym...but I'm bowing in Alarka's direction...words like triathalon make me gulp nervously at teh thought

I think I was scarred for life by a cross-country running experience at school.

Bero, sorry things are still unhappy

Avi, are you feeling a little better tonight?

My tomatoes are failing miserably. Is there anything I can do? They are outside now since we had that nice weather, have plnated in pots with basil and aubergines which are both doing quite well, but the toms look desperate.

Have done a swap for some runner beans which look good, too...sadly my strawberries are still the size of thumbnails....will they still produce fruit in September?!

Yes I have fed them, have mixed a feed into the compost, so hopefully they might suddenly spring forth.

Yes strawbs are this year's. Will they not have any fruit this year then?

I have never grown any soft fruit before.

Have just remembered I can put my emergency veg failure plan into action as I am going to see my parents next weekend and my Dad will have a greenhouse full of luxuriantly healthy tomato plants

I did not inherit his green fingers.

FrannyandZooey · 23/05/2008 21:51

we have killed tomatoes year after year but last year had great big blooming plants
however as usual we planted too late and half the fruit never ripened

same again this year, I have still got millions of things to plant

we are crap

pinkspottywellies · 23/05/2008 22:04

BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB!!!!!!!!! I was just thinking about you x

alarkaspree · 23/05/2008 22:04

I've had pear, raspberries, chickpeas, leek, asparagus and pineapple since lunch. That makes 11. 11! That's my first successful 10/10 day.

Frayedknot I didn't run from the ages of 12-27, mostly because of school cross-country running [shudder]. I am still not good at it. Or in fact at any triathlon discipline.

BBBee · 23/05/2008 22:07

why were you thinking of me PSW - having a bacon sandwich are we????

How did run go?

BBBee · 23/05/2008 22:08

hello alarkaspree - do i know you? are you new or name changerererer?

pinkspottywellies · 23/05/2008 22:15

Run was fab thanks BBB! I finished in 34 and a half minutes and I've raised about £200

No I was thinking about the email you sent the other week.

FrayedKnot · 23/05/2008 22:50

Hello BBBee, how was your week?

I admire anyone who can run.

I can sprint for about 80 metres and then I die.

Can we please not mention bacon sarnies, I am pre-menstrual

BBBee · 24/05/2008 00:26

oh god - yes, bugger, will email.

um, once this week, i recall, there was some salad in a sandwich.

S1ur · 24/05/2008 00:30

Late night checking emails sorta post.

But but but. You're talking growning things and I want to join in. So.

My tomatoes are flourishing and looking all lush However since we were/are still recovering and digging over veg patch at back we have virtually nothing in. NO potatoes. We put some lettace in for a laugh really, we had it and thought well may as well - hasn't been eaten. yet.

But we apparently have tons of strawberry plants around the place. They have flowers now, I'm hoping that's good.

We only moved late last year so its all a bit of a discovery really. We had a terrace with yard, or charming courtyard garden as the estate agent called it

Suppose I'm too late for putting anything in now really. Will have to wait til next season?

Ta for sticker Pinky

ohgodogodogod. Stressful day looms. I have 3 hours to get slummy house shipshape before babysitting a 2 year old for 7 hours. Half way thru, demanding houseguest plus child plus DOG will arrive, then scoot to 2-yr-old's house to put her to bed and wait for nightshift babysitter to arrive then back home to deal with overexcited children and demanding houseguest. WAIL!
And dh is off out to pick up sofabed from ebay and take it to boat so I will be doing this by mhyself....
oh yes, and have to fit in supermarket shop at some point...sob.

And all I really want to do is go to my allotment.

Tatties · 24/05/2008 09:21

Oh Avi your poor head, it doesn't seem right that you are still suffering. Mine is still not tip top either, I keep waking up with it (although it is nowhere near as bad as yours)

I think we are going to a garden centre today [excited] MrsC did you get anything the other day?

Franny how does it feel to be finished work now?
