that was it, OJ, the mummy diaries. incredibly sad but also uplifting in strange way.

onlyjoking9329 · 25/03/2008 05:15

I will watch it someday, my mate watched it and said it was very sad but very good.

daizydoo · 25/03/2008 05:26

OJ, sorry to butt in. I've been reading this thread and feeling really bad for you and your kids. I've worked with Social Workers and been around when there have been funding issues. What makes me really cross is that if they need to get a person out of hospital/hospice etc asap they can get everything organised in days! I hope they sort everything out soon for you. Can you not ask for the District Nurse to come and give his meds. They wouldn't do it on an adhoc basis, but maybe it could be worked into a plan?

I hope that there is a ray of sunshine for you today.

onlyjoking9329 · 25/03/2008 07:47

hello daisy all are welcome here.
I know a bit how social services work, I did a few years for them, mind you things change so I probably am well out of date.
the funding issue is with the nhs not SS.

We've not yet had funding issues with SS they have given us daytime respite whenever we need it we just phone the families direct. We get a lot of direct payment hours for the kids.

Most of steves meds are early morning and night time, its just if he is in pain and needing the oramorph and that can't be planned for as such.

onlyjoking9329 · 25/03/2008 08:41

I have to be nice to social services, they pay my pension

3NAB · 25/03/2008 12:23

Thank you for answering my question last night and I am sorry if it upset you and I am sorry you have been through all that.

How is everyone today?

lilyloo · 25/03/2008 13:30

OJ just popping in to see how you are and hoping that they sort things out for the best for all of you on Thursday.

Izabella · 25/03/2008 22:20

Hi OJ, only two more sleeps till the meeting on Thursday. I so wish I could fast forward time until then. Hope Steve was not in too much pain or too agitated today. Does he talk about the meeting at all? Hope Beth is ok after her ordeal yesterday. Love to you all. xxx

triplets · 25/03/2008 23:36

Hi Oj, so hope Thurs is a good day for you and you get what you want. My DH gets his results on Frid, I am very scared.

fortyplus · 26/03/2008 01:13

Hi OJ - haven't been on mn for about a week as so manic at work that I keep falling asleep in the chair and snoring! I can't believe you still haven't got the 24hr care for Steve - that makes me feel & .

I'll be thinking of you on Thurs

WanderingTrolley · 26/03/2008 08:28

How are things this morning, oj?

Saw you on antoher thread.

onlyjoking9329 · 26/03/2008 08:45

Nab3 you didnt upset me so worry not

triplets I will be crossing crossable body parts for you on Friday.

Isabella Steve knows about the meeting on Thursday thou he forgets about it most days.
Bethan is ok and won't be locking any doors for a long time.
Steve has rather a lot of swelling to the side of his head again which they are keeping a close eye on in case of infection.
my pc is still playing up so I phoned NTLl yet again had to go throu the routine of we need to speak to your DH as the accounts in his name, I once again had to explain that Steve was in hospice and wouldn't be able to talk to them this time they saw sense and dealt with me. Dunno what's Wrong but it is not the pc so they are sending an engineer out between 12 & 4, just hope they don't need Steve to sign anythhing.
i am sending and reading posts from my phone but can't do email.
for now I can read and post from my phone but can get emails properly.

captainmummy · 26/03/2008 11:03

OJ - re the things being in Steves name - don't you have power of Attorney? It might be an idea to get one, as he is not able to do/sign things with his name on. It would save a lot of the explaining/dithering that companies seem to specialise in.

lucyellensmum · 26/03/2008 11:52

yes, captain is right, as time goes on, sadly this will be more important, especially with regards to any bank accounts etc. So sorry you have to go through this OJ XXX

onlyjoking9329 · 26/03/2008 13:17

i Don't have POA and don't really know if i need it as i am next of kin.
most of the bills are now in my name except NTL and child benefit. Steves bank accounts are sorted.
My PC is now working and i have a new modem
the girls are out until 6pm so me and Elliot are off to see steve and i need to talk to the consultant about tomorrows meeting.

lilyloo · 26/03/2008 16:06

OJ hope meeting with consultant goes well and best of luck for tom.

bundle · 26/03/2008 16:10

good news re: modem

keeping everything crossed and double-crossed for tomorrow, xxx

Izabella · 26/03/2008 16:26

Hope the chat with the consultant went well and that you and Elliot had some good awake time with Steve. Roll on tomorrow! Will be thinking of you. xxx

onlyjoking9329 · 26/03/2008 19:05

Steve was ok today, no pain, well not counting when i gave him a shave
saw the consultant, she says that it is not usual for the funding panel to refuse funding which is what they did a few weeks back, hopefully this meeting will make them see sense. she said not to worry as apart from the funding panel and steves family they are all wanting the funding.
she did mention a sit in until they agreed
i suggested they come sit at my house that should help focus their funding ishooos

bundle · 26/03/2008 20:08

lol @ sit in!

trulymadlydeeply · 26/03/2008 20:17

Will be thinking of you tomorrow, OJ. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

xxx

lilyloo · 26/03/2008 20:18

sounds promising OJ am sure they would take you up on your offer

VaginaShmergina · 26/03/2008 20:20

As I have said before, I'm up for a sit in !!

Sending you all my positive energy for tomorrow Jo, even my DH said to me today, "isn't it tomorrow Jo goes for funding ?"

Bless him, he knows you all - he has no choice, as you are all a big part of my life !

I hope that when you post tomorrow it is a positive one and there are no more wars to be fought to get Steve home.

onlyjoking9329 · 26/03/2008 20:24

truth be told i am shitting myself a little anxious, steve has forgotton about the meeting and i don't know if his family will be putting in an appearance.
so much depends on this meeting. we want steve home, steve wants to be home you would think it would be made easy wouldn't you.
i am on my 2nd R&C
